Orlando HVAC Contractors Reviews
Then, they coordinated the delivery and installed the new AC. Their staff and the crew that installed the system were courteous, helpful, and professional. As I said, we use them to maintain all the systems in our church and over the years have found APPLE to be the best HVAC we have dealt with.
Air Conditioning and Heating, Inc.
Lisandro's quotation was the most detailed and complete of the four
quotations I received. I learned a lot through the bidding process.
Lisandro was one of only two who proposed replacing the "line set" (the
copper pipes joining the compressor and the air handler). Our former
heat pump was 22 years old and used R10 refrigerant which is no longer
legal in new equipment. Two of the quotes proposed flushing the pipes -
a procedure which could leave oils which could compromise the new
refrigerant. The other quote was much higher and did not include many
of the features of Lisandro's quote.
I told all the candidates that the bedroom furthest from the air handler
was not getting cooled properly. Lisandro's quote was one of only two
which proposed running an additional supply duct to this room, and the
only one which also proposed running return ducts from each of the three
distant bedrooms. He also proposed replacing the single 29 x 9 1/2 air
return with two 29 x 17 air returns. He replaced the rotting flakeboard
platform for the air handler with a new, larger 3/4" plywood platform
capable of supporting the new air handler and the new return plenum for
the return ducts from the three bedrooms.
I do a lot of my own shop work, so during the replacement process I was
interested in watching what both Lisandro and his employee
doing. I was surprised by the variety of skills required by the
installation. They did carpentry, plumbing, electrical wiring (both
high and low voltage), along with tasks specifically associated with
HVAC, like pipe welding and leak testing. They were diligent and
skilled and I found no flaws in their work. Whenever it was possible to
do more than "minimum code," Lisandro did more. Lisandro did my work as
if he were doing it on his own house.
Lisandro maintains familiarity with new innovations in HVAC technology.
The new type of cleanout valve he installed for the condensate drain
is not yet required by code, but he installed it anyway because it's a
good innovation. He also used a new type of air return vent.
Of the four quotations, the warranty provided by Lisandro's was better.
The extra features he added made his quotation more attractive than
the others. I checked the three references he provided, and they had
nothing but good to say about his work. He was insistent about the
importance of obtaining a building permit and having his work inspected.
(The inspection itself was short and the installation easily passed.)
Finally, Lisandro is a decent, honest, hard-working, friendly person.
It was a pleasure doing business with him.
I am looking forward to better cooling and lower electric bills next summer!
He did find the capacitors were not working as well as they neededshould be. (There's one in the outside unit and one in the inside unit.) He showed me what the reading was on the tool (I have no idea what it is called but I've seen them before) for that purpose. The capacitors have the acceptable reading printed on them; both were below the acceptable number. This added another $150 with our 25% Angie's List discount including parts and labor. I felt this was a very reasonable price.
After cleaning everything and replacing the capacitors he checked all the functions (emergency heat, heat, and AC) to make sure everything was working as it should.
Listrano provides you with a detailed report of the work. It took him approximately 3 hours to complete the work, which he had told me it probably would. He does not rush through, he wants to make sure everything is done right.
By the time he finishes you feel like you are dealing with a friend, which is part of his business philosophy. He wants you to think of him as your AC mechanic, not just the mechanic. He proves those are not just words by going the extra mile. I ask him about a filter because the size is odd so I've been buying ones that can be cut to fit the size you need. He said he would be glad to go to the supply store and price them. He called me back to give me the price and ask if I wanted him to get one for me. I told him to go ahead. He returned later (since I had left to house at that time) and installed it for me. It should have been a 5 minute job, but to no fault of his he had to make some modifications to get the filter to easily slide in and out, which took him probably 30 minutes instead of 5. He did not charge me any more than he had already quoted for the filter and labor to put it in .
One last thing, I mentioned that our thermostat shows the temperature to be 4 degrees warmer than it actually is. He told me he would watch for a used one that would work with our unit and if it is in better condition he would call and come by and install it for no charge.
My husband and I were very impressed with him from the time he arrived until he completed everything.
