Oklahoma City Transmission Shops Reviews

"The facility looks =extremely= clean, organized and professional. I have no reason to doubt that they do perhaps great work. The staff was polite, and the receptionist couldn't have been nicer. I ended up not choosing these folks, though, because of what I perceived was a lackadaisical diagnostic/estimate process, and the fact that I got =no= telephone calls from them about progress, estimates, etc.... I had to go down in person each time I needed some info. But my main disappointment was with the mechanic, the only person who was actually talking to me about my car. After having the car for a day or two, I asked him what was the problem, and he said that I'd need a brand new transmission. I asked him why, and he said, "we hooked it up to the machine and it kicked out a bunch of codes. So it'll be about $2200 plus fluids and tax, plus if we find anything else wrong in there." I asked him if what codes or error messages the computer kicked out, and all he knew was that it was a 'bunch' of codes. He told me he couldn't get me a Reman. I had to ask him a few times about that, since I didn't have a clue what a Reman was, or why I might need one. I finally got him to explain that that was mechanic's talk for a remanufactured transmission, and that for some reason I shouldn't get one, but that he was going to get a brand new, top of the line, frankly very expensive factory transmission for my 200,000 mile car. Pretty

, almost no explanation, lots of technical jargon... I kinda felt like I had walked in with a car that had one transmission hiccup, was now working fine, but that his standard response to all transmission problems was, 'You need a brand new transmission.' ==I'm not saying I didn't need a new transmission, perhaps I do (though a week later it's still driving fine) but I am saying that before a consumer should give an automatic Ok to $2,500+ of repairs, more information should be given, or a more thoughtful diagnosis done, or a better explanation of why a remanufactured transmission might not work, or something.== I was just very glad I walked away; perhaps this is just a salesmanship issue, but there's no way I can feel confident that I should spend a significant chunk of money (on a car that might be too old to even profit from it) because of a vague report of a vague bunch of codes. They already had my car; one clear five-minute explanation and they would have had the job, AND oh my gosh, just even a single phone call instead of "why don't you check back with us tomorrow?"... Well, how about -you- check back with -me-, instead of making me do a guessing game of when you might be ready to give me some information? Why do places like these ask you for your cell phone number if they have no intention of using it... :-) Anyway, they might do fantastic work, but customer service is a significant component of the process, and I felt that they lacked a clear, proactive customer service process. Okay for the dollar store, not okay for a 2,000 dollar store.

was good. He didn't screw us over like the last guy. A guy that changed the car's transmission about 3-4 years ago, charged us about $1300 for the same amount of work performed."

"Took our classic 1979 Chevrolet truck in for a new automatic transmission, it was rebuilt not new. When we went to pick it up, drove
it around and it wasn't running like it had before we took it in. The transmission was leaking fluid, the passing gear didn't work, the engine knocked, there was a vacuum leak and would hardly stay running. Took it back and they had to get a new cable for the passing gear because they said it had snapped.
They said the engine on the truck needed to be tuned up - well it ran perfect before

got their hands on it. Took the truck home because they are not capable nor trustworthy to do any work on any vehicle that I own.
Took the truck to our regular mechanic. He said it didn't need a tuneup, he did fix the vacuum leak, work on the brakes because they weren't working properly (worked perfect before going to

Pretty sure they put in the wrong torque converter, it doesn't stall high enough for towing. When you press down for the passing gear all it does is make a knocking noise and it will not go into first gear.
Had to take it back to the mechanic because the speedometer quit working. Found out that it quit working because the speedometer cable got crushed when the transmission was replaced.
All in all I'd say

is the worst place to take any vehicle.

"It went well. Good price, good customer service and car was finished in a timely manner. We had taken our car to the Honda dealership in SW okc several times for the same issues. Each time they charged us more for something new. Took in to this place and they replaced a sensor and repaired the airbag switch (the dealership did not tell us it was just the switch, they said it was probably something to do with a vacuum leak, which was not true). The young guy and older gentleman were both very professional and my car was ready in a timely manner. The young guy mentioned that the sensor may or may not be the reason for the transmission issues and warned us that the transmission could be needing major repair.. he gave us the option to try the sensor repair. Long story short, the guy was right. We wound up having the transmission rebuilt about 5K miles later. I was thankful for the heads up. The dealership would have just had me coming back and forth (40 minute drive each way) to repair this and that without addressing the underlying problem.

"The people were professional and extremely responsive. They didn't keep my car long at all despite its many problems.
They are pricey, but their service is worth the price. There were other potential problems they found wrong with the car. They wrote what the problem was, how much it would generally cost to fix and the suggested time frame of when it should be fixed. I appreciated that they are allowing me the option to fix those other problems at any other auto services location that may be better priced than they are. My guess is that those problems are pretty basic and just about any knowledgeable repair shop would be able to handle the job. I haven't taken my car in anywhere yet because I'm still recovering from the $2K plus bill. I also appreciated the follow-up call I received a couple weeks later to find out if the car is working properly. I would recommend them to anyone and everyone!
They are expensive, but they are not out to get your money. They have a good reputation and I see why.
I'm a VERY satisfied customer.
