"A large ivy patch began to assert its authority over our front yard. Meanwhile, a large amount of rock we rescued from a demolition was celebrating its 20th anniversary in our backyard, so we decided to mash the two together and put a rock pathway through, and border around, the ivy.
We found
on Angie's List and called him in early May for an estimate. We had our requirements (use all of our rock, allow for future irrigation lines, avoid septic tank and sewer lines) and our list of wants (make it look "natural" and remove some volunteer saplings) . Three days later he came by and spent about an hour talking it over. He emphasized the artistic approach for both and made suggestions that were helpful. He promised a rendering and an estimate which arrived in the mail a week or so later. We liked what we saw and agreed to the design and price and he estimated that he could start in 6 weeks.
He began work near the first of
and over the next two week he and his team fit us into his busy schedule (I would rather have a busy person working on my home than someone who has only us as their client). As the project progressed,
made suggestions and accepted suggestions which changed the scope (e.g. adding a second bisecting pathway exiting to the front yard, adding tubing to allow easy passage below the path for irrigation and/or low voltage wiring, and lighting) .
Early on he texted me about flagstone thinking he needed to buy rock and I had to remind him that we had our own. He tried several times to steer us away from our choice of a more expensive
lighting transformer and fixtures toward an older halogen system for which he had a sample.
has a penchant for artistic flare. He seems to enjoy (as I do) that part of his job, and therefore suggests (or implements) changes toward that end. Any changes born from his suggestions were done without changing the overall expense of the project and were each very attractive and very much appreciated. Our suggested additions did cost more money, but we knew how much it cost before he started on those changes.
He was finished by
15th and we love the result. We opted not to add the lighting just yet, but he wired the area so that we could add it later without having to dig things up.
is a busy guy. He has great ideas and enjoys talking about them and making beautiful things, not cookie cutter results. He works late into the evening to keep his business going, so you should anticipate late night texts with ideas and pictures. The result you want could take more time, so I would advise to give him time to think about and produce the results, you'll be glad you did.
We, in all likelihood, will ask him to do our
when that time comes.

"I originally met with
in February. He was prompt in providing a plan, but was a bit slow in starting the work in early June. However, HE WAS WORTH THE WAIT! The work was completed timely (within a week) and was very reasonably priced. My front yard looks fantastic.
I was most impressed with how
took the time to talk with me to fully understand what I wanted. His initial plan very closely reflected my vision.
was very receptive to my suggestions and incorporated my requests into his plan. The result was a landscape area that was exactly what I wanted! The landscape area looks great and serves the intended purpose (to address a shade are where grass wasn't growing, which resulted in some erosion).
I've already recommended
to friends.

"Access to our backyard is very narrow so

and his guys used wheelbarrows to bring in the topsoil and fescue. It was backbreaking work but they did a super job. While here giving the estimate

offered suggestions for landscaping. We told him we would definitely call him when we were able to have landscaping done. In February 2013 we invited

to give us a plan and estimate for re-landscaping our front yard. It took a while for him to get out here, then more time to get the plan but we liked what we saw and the price was fair so we accepted his offer. Since it was still rather cold out he said he'd get back to us about a start date. He called once and told us he was waiting for the grass to turn green before starting, then later he said he had to get a job done at his own house for his daughter's backyard wedding. Finally around May 1 or so he called and said they would be out the following Monday, May 5 to spray paint the outline of the beds and spray foliage

and crew showed up Monday morning, May 22, 2013. Apparently there was a miscommunication between him and my husband so I agreed to go ahead with this project. If it is completed within a week I will revise my grades and change the question about using him again to "yes".

Update 5/24/13: The project has been completed and we're very satisfied with the results. The pictures submitted are for the May 2013 project.

"This was a very pleasant experience from start to finish.

can on on time for the initial estimate appointment and truly listened to what I wanted. He made several good suggestions and options I had not thought about. I was needing a total redo of my yards both back and front along with a new deck. We had budgeted about $15K for this and his estimate came in at $17.5K. This was due to my decision to use Trex and not wood for the deck. I had at least 3 other estimates and Edmnd was in the middle.

worked with me to get the estimate closer to our budget and finished with a total cost of $16,400.
The work crew showed up on time the morning it was scheduled to start. The total job took about 2 weeks to finish which I was very please with. The work crew was very professional and their quality of work was amazing. The deck had different grades and the access ramp was difficult. The ramp had to make a 90 degree turn onto the deck. Instead of the easy way of making a straght ramp from the side walk to a platform then another straight ramp to the deck he actually curved the ramp by curving the materials. It came out beautiful. They also made sure to put erosion fabric under the deck to prevent plant growth which I did not expect. Over all I was very pleased with the workmanship of the decking crew and the landscape crew.
