"I had a 7:30 morning appointment with Dr.
. I thought this would be early enough to avoid any backlog of patients so I could get in to my appointment quickly." I was called into the examining room after only a 10 minute wait and told the Dr. would be in shortly. After 8:30 rolled around and no one had come into the examining room to explain to me what the delay was I had had enough. I went out into the hallway to express my dissatisfaction that I had been waiting for over an hour for my early morning appointment. I respect the Dr's time by making the effort to be punctual and it ticked me off that this effort was not recipricated. I was told that there were 22 scheduled patients and 5 walk-ins with emergency problems ahead of me... all before my 0730 appointment! What am I, stupid? I found this hard to believe. About a minute later Dr.
walks in. When I asked why I had to wait so long he didn't mention anything about a back log of patients or emergency walk-ins. He told me he had been in a meeting about how Obamacare was preventing him from opening up his new healthcare facility. I guess he didn't know about the 22 patients and 5 walk-ins. How about if I decide to go to a meeting instead of my appointment and stroll in over an hour late? Would they be as meekly accepting as they wanted me to be? NO, because it would have been an outrageously disrespectful abuse of their time. Yet I was expected to just docily smile and act like no abuse of my time has occured. While Dr.
patiently answers all my questions, has an excellent bedside manner and is a good doctor, I do not appreciate the unprofessional, dishonest way his office staff treats patients. I would consider this before choosing a doctor.

"Dr
performed an arthroscopic surgery for me about 15 years ago and at the time told me I would need father surgery in the future. The future has come and I went" to two other orthopedics before consulting with Dr
. The other Dr's had suggested total knee replacement and ACL replacement. Dr
advised that by putting off the knee replacement as long as possible I could avoid having to have the procedure again in about 20 years. I have lived with this problem for 15 years now, so a few more years will not be a change for me. I think this is the best advise I have gotten so far. My knee is better and I am strengthening it. It feels better everyday.

Sounds like you should be pursuing a disability claim.  Also, you could speak to your previous doctor frankly about your concerns.
Have they made orthotics for your shoes that distribute your weight better?

Hi,

This is James W. with Member Care. Thanks for posting your question.

It looks like when you signed up online on 8/5/2014, that you accidentally joined our greater Portland chapter instead of our Salem/Corvallis chapter that your zip code falls under. I have transferred your subscription to that chapter, so you will now have access to the correct area.

I hope this information helps! Please let me know if I can assist further. You can respond to this thread or submit a new Answers post. You can also reach us at 1-866-783-2980. We're open weekdays from 8:00 am - 9:00 pm and Saturdays 8:00 am - 5:00 pm ET.

Thanks again!
