Teabout and his team at Virginia Home Repair did a great job at doing what we needed, and more. He walked through the rental home we have and made suggestions around colors for paint, doors that needed replacement and easy to do bathroom repairs. The meeting was quick, and we did not have to get involved at all until done. He called us when the work was complete and we could come by to inspect it. On the first day of the work, they arrived on time, did a great job, and communicated with us to keep us updated - but beyond getting updates, they handled any issues that arose. The renters were very pleased and now that the house is on the

, we plan to bring them back to do some additional work to prepare it for the new owners.

The job went really well. They had to take measurements on all the windows which is difficult in an old home since there is settling.
Norfolk General Contractors Provider Name Locked
was able to manufacture the frames on all the windows, some of which were small and others enormous (like 66" x 108"). The windows are great and, since this is an Angie's List report, at one point
Norfolk General Contractors Provider Name Locked
even walked my dog one day during the job (just like the Angie's List TV ad).

did a makeover of my parents' 5-bedroom, 3.5-bath 1916 house to ready it for sale after they had lived in it for 42 years. There was more work to be done in there than we ever imagined.

's quote was the third one that we obtained and it was extremely reasonable compared to the others -- in fact it was so low that I asked him to go over it to make sure it was correct, which it was.
Norfolk General Contractors Provider Name Locked
was very responsive to all of our needs throughout the project. He kept us informed of all surprises that came up during the work and provided a quote for the additional work promptly. He was extremely easy to work with on changes that we wanted to make as the work progressed, and he and his crew always sought our input when there were decisions to be made. The contract was started on time; however, it took quite a bit longer than anticipated to finish due to the surprises that we encountered and the changes and additional work that we requested.
Norfolk General Contractors Provider Name Locked
's crew was always there when he said they would be, they were always courteous, and they did a good job of cleaning up after themselves. They all went out of their way to make us happy, and even did some small extra jobs at no charge while they were there. The final bill came in only 10% higher than the original quote, which was very reasonable given the amount of changes and additions that were made during the process. I would recommend
Norfolk General Contractors Provider Name Locked
and his crew to anyone who has a multifaceted job to do, particularly where price is a major concern. He is very focused on meeting the customer's needs and making sure they are satisfied.

First off, the owner/boss was working on another job other than ours in another state. He was rarely here to oversee what was being done. This left his workers to carry out the day to day building details. One of them was an ex-convict who was rude, vulgar and unprofessional. They cut corners wherever they could and often left us with inferior products. Luckily my husband was there during the majority of the build and was able to catch a lot of the problems. They installed the stairs from the deck down to the beach incorrectly and had to redo them two or three times. The decking is uneven and some screws are too tight or not tight enough. No quality control. There was a major water leak during the last phase of building that soaked our newly installed carpeting and ruined wood flooring in our dining area. They tried to hide that it happened. Had we not shown up right after it did, we might never have known. They were going to try to dry it out and hope we did not notice. Our

windows and doors were not installed to manufacturer guidelines. They leaked during Tropical Storm Sandy. The wood floor in our living/dining area was warped due to water leakage. This storm was nothing in this area and we should never have had leaking. The contractor refused to do anything about it. His suggestion was to cut out the wood and install tile, as he was sure it would happen again in the next storm. He refused to fix the windows and doors. Our soffit rattles terribly with any wind and makes it impossible to sleep at night due to noise. He says he will fix it for a fee. This has been a problem from the day we moved in. The builder would substitute products without our approval. We have a kitchen faucet with no sprayer because what we ordered was no longer available. He just chose to install one without it. Our granite counter tops were not ordered or cut correctly for the faucets. They were installed too close to the wall and now the drain stoppers will not work because they are too tight against the back splash. The tub filler on our bathtub never worked properly (only dispensed hot water) yet he refused to fix the problem. A new filler was delivered yet he never sent a plumber over to install it. Our garage floor is cracking badly and he has not come to look at it even though we had been telling him this for months. He stalled and stalled on all of our problems and now says that since our year is up, everything requires a fee to fix. I would not let this man in our house to touch another thing as I do not trust his workmanship nor honesty. We had since hired an independent home inspector who cataloged and documented errors in our upper deck installation as well as all the leaking. The building contractor refuses to acknowledge this even though he was sent the report. Frustrating! In the end, the builder left us high and dry and did not stand by his work. I would NEVER recommend this company to anyone.

The tearout was done on the day scheduled and work proceeded nicely the first few days. I had purchased the tile, light fixture, vanity, toilet, medicine cabinet and bath hardware on my own and had it staged at the house. The tile was ordered through Prosource and
Norfolk General Contractors Provider Name Locked
picked it up - for some reason, too much tile was ordered in one area and one piece was shy for the decorative eye level trim that had to be reordered. That did slow up the process some but
Norfolk General Contractors Provider Name Locked
did all the tile work except that piece and installed it when it came in. ProSource's policy is not very customer friendly as they will not accept full box refunds even with a restocking fee. Another words, since I paid for it - it was mine to keep.
Norfolk General Contractors Provider Name Locked
did make a small adjustment on the bill but it would have been better if I had purchased the tile at Lowes or Home Depot and been able to recoop a fairly substantial amount. For that reason, I would not use ProSource again.

, the lead mechanic does quite well in many different trade areas so he is an asset to the company. Owner,
Norfolk General Contractors Provider Name Locked
also very personable and responsive. The bathroom looks very nice and was renovated to make the most of the small space we had. All that is needed now are the glass panels and door for the shower area and quotes are in the process now. I think the renovation was a very good value and I would use

Well I have been using
Norfolk General Contractors Provider Name Locked
for years, so when this most recent round of home repairs were needed I didn't hesitate to give them a call. They came out the same day and provided me with an estimate and it was quite affordable. We scheduled a day for the work to commence and when that day came they were prompt and on time. They didn't ask for a dime up front and did and excellent job. We were extremely satisfied!

I came home one evening to find the windows of my two front bedrooms were broken. When
Norfolk General Contractors Provider Name Locked
came over to give a free estimate, they were neatly dressed, professional, and courteous. They promptly arrived as scheduled to take out the windows. They were careful not to disturb my shrubbery while accessing the windows. Plywood was custom cut to cover my now missing windows while waiting for my new ones to arrive. They called the next day to make sure I wasn't having any problems with the plywood covering and I assured them everything was fine.
Once the windows arrived, they called to schedule a replacement date and showed up on time as scheduled. The windows were skillfully replaced. They made sure to clean up behind themselves and a complimentary review of necessary home repairs and preventative maintenance was performed.

Mercaldo is skilled, polite, punctual and responsive at every stage of the process of evaluating, estimating, and performing work we have had done over several occasions.
The first occasion was replacing an original construction craftsman bungalow entry door and sidelights with a customer-purchased replacement. Even though this entailed resizing the opening from 86" high to 80",
Norfolk General Contractors Provider Name Locked
was able to complete the job securely and such that the results appear to be original. He meticulously matched the existing architectural moldings with custom replacements, where needed and finished the framing so well that one cannot tell that the taller door was there - nor that the shorter door is not appropriate, both visually and architecturally, to the space. The outside is equally well done and installed so that the custom door sill was retained. All facets of the job, from preparation to cleanup, were fast, efficient and well-executed.
Our next occasion was for the insulation in the basement/crawl area and some miscellaneous trim work around doorways in our family room/hallway/kitchen area. As with the door,
Norfolk General Contractors Provider Name Locked
provided detailed and responsive feedback as we worked with him to define the scope of work. Once we settled on a plan, he provided us regular notification as to planning up to the scheduled week for the work to be performed. At that time, he coordinated start date and time and proceeded to complete this work as planned. He routinely goes out of his way to ensure he delights his customers - not just with the routine excellence he demonstrates in the work he performs, but in the little extras he brings to the job. In the case of the insulation of our basement area, he observed that the original portion of the house (under which the full basement sits) was built with a rather large gap between the foundation and the overlap of the siding. This seems to have been usual for that vintage but resulted in significant air incursion that was essentially above the insulation he was installing. To prevent this leak, he customized a foam and batting combination that effectively limited the air from entering above the insulation - allowing the basement to vent without allowing conditioned air from escaping the living areas. In the crawl area, he noted that a pump (supporting geothermal) was missing sound insulation on a side not visible from the basement and took the extra step to finish that enclosure - greatly reducing the amount of sound that travels to the living area when the heating/cooling system is in operation. As with the door, he completed this work and cleaned the area well.
Overall, we are well pleased with

We are renovating our kitchen. Previous owners had a portion of the ceiling dropped and we wanted to return it to original height. We did all demo work ourselves, but needed help with drywall and plaster repair.
Norfolk General Contractors Provider Name Locked
was very responsive from beginning to end. Upon estimate request, he was available same day to conduct initial survey. We worked together almost daily to get the right approach for our home. Price was very reasonable and he was able to fit us into the schedule (very busy) to help us keep on track with our kitchen cabinet install timeline. His guys did a great job, and we're very happy with the results.

Baker and his employees really did an excellent job. His carpenter was very skilled and we enjoyed his polite and friendly painters. His office manager was a delight and always reachable by phone or email.
