New York Veterinarians Reviews

"Their prices are very reasonable compared to other places in the area. They are very attentive to each person and they don't rush me through or anything. They don't do test unless they feel it's absolutely necessary. They are not out to make a lot of money with extra testing. They have three different vets. They are open from Monday to Friday and also on Saturday & Sunday. One of the vets specialized with Chinese veterinarian medicine and acupuncture. My dog responded fairly well with them. She is a rescue dog. She has a little nervousness about everything, but they handled her well. I have gone back to them several times."

"It was unclear whether my cat needed to visit the vet (and add more stress) or not. The person answering the phone told me that she would have the vet call me. Unfortunately it was a Saturday and they were swamped so I had to follow up multiple times (this was frustrating). A few hours later, the person answering the phone said she spoke with the vet and he didn't think it was an emergency and it could wait until Monday. She informed me that my vet was on medical leave and asked me which of the other vets I wanted to see on Monday. Since I had never used either one, I chose the one based on availability that worked with my time preference (morning) on Monday. I was late getting there because I was driving from my new home uptown and they worked with me. When I got there, I got in to see the vet immediately. The vet was professional and my cat felt comfortable with him. He did an exam and offered me some options and we discussed details. When we were done, he walked my paperwork out to the front office and asked them to process me quickly as I had mentioned I was parked at a meter. I really like the vets and the staff here.

Some background -- I only take my cat to the vet when he is sick and not annual check ups.

"The receptionist was nice. Doctor was great. She sent a card the next day. This is the first time I've been to this

, and I will go back, even though they're moving a bit father away."

"They are very knowledgeable and efficient. They answer all questions and explain everything well and thoroughly. They are accessible if there are any issues with your pet. They are honest about all the options available and know what your pet needs. They do not concentrate on the price, instead care for the animals. I like their services and will use the same in future."

"The only things that aren?t excellent are their punctuality and availability. They treat a range of animals and they are close with
New York Veterinarians Provider Name Locked
?s school of veterinary medicine so they are on top of all of the new technologies and things. It is just a quirky place for people that love animals. It is pretty clean, all things considered, but it isn?t perfect. You can call any time to get advice which is really great. Usually I have to wait for an hour or an hour and a half which is a long time when you have a little animal with you."

"Our cat had been ill for several days, but I'd been avoiding any vet because we are new in town and we've all been stressed with the move. I called his previous vet earlier that week and she also felt that his diarrhea might be due to stress (new environment, new litter box). We were seen immediately by the receptionist, asked to wait in triage briefly, seen by a lovely vet tech, who took a brief history and took our cat back for an exam. We then sat down to wait. It wasn't 15 minutes before the veterinarian on call took us to the exam room to ask more questions and explain what they'd already done to diagnose the source of the tummy upset. He was very clear, was careful to explain all costs, and tried to explain how to treat conservatively rather than running up expensive tests. When I asked about ultrasound over x-

, he explained why that would be an unnecessary expense at this point and recommended against it. At all times, however, he was willing to do whatever would also have made me feel better about the diagnostics. In the end, after I specifically asked for an x-

out something scary the cat had ingested, it turned out to not be an emergency (i.e., no ingested string) and we were sent home with inexpensive, effective antibiotics and a fast for 24 hours. It was truly an amazing experience. It felt like a human hospital, but more efficient and less expensive.

New York Veterinarians Provider Name Locked
IS NOT KIND AT ALL. Recently, our 13 year old dog,
New York Veterinarians Provider Name Locked
, began to go into distress in the evenings, pacing and panting, pawing at our legs in a way that was emphatic, unrelenting and very uncharacteristic for her. She also began to pace, on and off, throughout the night. After an exam and initial blood work at
New York Veterinarians Provider Name Locked
, they suspected lymphoma, but said that nothing could be prescribed for the distress/anxiety until a diagnosis was in. Two days later, Thursday, we received the call that
New York Veterinarians Provider Name Locked
was (correctly) diagnosed as having lymphoma and we made a follow-up appointment for Tuesday to discuss treatment options. On Friday, she seemed to be in even greater distress, with increased panting, pacing and an inability to settle down and get comfortable. I phoned
New York Veterinarians Provider Name Locked
and requested that they prescribe something to alleviate
New York Veterinarians Provider Name Locked
's distress. 4 hours later, the Dr. phoned and said that
New York Veterinarians Provider Name Locked
's distress wasn't physical but psychological and there was nothing to do, as anti-anxiety medications that she could prescribe would take weeks to build-up in
New York Veterinarians Provider Name Locked
's system. On Saturday, after a night of pacing, panting, pawing and no one in our household sleeping, I phoned the Dr. again and had to insist on a quick call back, rather than at the end of the day. The Dr. phoned, annoyance in her voice. I reiterated the degree of distress and I specifically asked if there was a canine equivalent to Valium or Xanax, something to get her out of distress. The Dr. became very insistent, "no," that there was nothing to do for
New York Veterinarians Provider Name Locked
. At this point I became very skeptical of the clinic's advice. Though never needed for
New York Veterinarians Provider Name Locked
, I'd known other dog owners who at the 4th of

(fireworks) and during extended travel via car or plane, had given their pets anti-anxiety medications that acted quickly. I voiced my disbelief that there was "NOTHING?" for canines along the lines of Valium or Xanax, &
New York Veterinarians Provider Name Locked
again reiterated that there was "nothing, those meds are for humans only." After several more hours, on Saturday, of pacing, etc, I took

to
New York Veterinarians Provider Name Locked
and waited 2.5 hours to see a doctor, by this time a friend had told us about a dog tranquilizer and I asked for it, or something like it, for
New York Veterinarians Provider Name Locked
's distress. AND EVEN AS
New York Veterinarians Provider Name Locked
PACED AND PANTED AND PAWED IN FRONT OF THE DOCTOR, THE DOCTOR'S RESPONSE WAS ... "SHE'S JUST ACTING LIKE A DOG."! 13yrs of living with
New York Veterinarians Provider Name Locked
, & this stranger is telling me my dog, in obvious and great distress, IS NOT IN DISTRESS AT ALL. I challenged the doctor who finally prescribed Acepromazine.
New York Veterinarians Provider Name Locked
responded immediately, and for the first time in days she could settle down and sleep. On Tuesday, we were given one choice, an aggressive course of chemo, OR, to find another vet if we weren't willing to go forward with their torturous advice. I now know Valium is commonly prescribed in just this kind of situation, so while I can't imagine their motives,
New York Veterinarians Provider Name Locked
either lied or is incompetent.

"I have used their services for 5 years. Dr.
New York Veterinarians Provider Name Locked
Giangola is my veterinarian of choice. He treats my pet very well. I got my cat from a rescue league. On the initial visit for my pet, Dr. Giangola was very kind, cleaned the ears and really did a great job with him. During the ten day hospital stay, my cat was not eating. They made arrangements for me to come into the hospital to encourage him to eat. Through my experience, the waiting room time becomes a little of lengthy wait. An appointment time doesn't mean too much unless it is an emergency. The office has a very plain atmosphere, which does not bother me as my main objective is good medical care. I do not wish to state the cost."

"They were very professional and knowledgeable, but we found them very expensive. They also had us come back to give our dog one more

of a vaccination (at additional cost), which we had never had to do before for routine shots. I would use them again if their prices weren't so out of range for the
