was the ONLY plumber in 7 years who was able to figure out why our dishwasher was backing up into our bathtub. (we've had many others try, and have spent countless hundreds of dollars needlessly; the problem always came back).
located where the problem was: a pipe,
in a wall. He apologized for having to break through the wall to get to it (we didn't mind)...cleaned out the pipe, replaced it with a new piece, snaked down about 150 feet, and everything has been GREAT ever since. We had no trouble getting an appointment.
was smart, nice, courteous...and VERY reasonable, for all the time he spent here.

I think my previous description is detailed enough. It goes like this: 1.) Disbelief 2.) Must be the city's sewer line (their responsibility) 3.) Call the city who quickly and easily confirms their end is PERFECT (of course) 4.) Call a couple of "snake" firms (Roto Rooters, etc) 5.) The one you hire shows up, works like crazy for a couple of hours, shows you the "polished and dry" end of his "snake," and tells you "That means we're hitting dirt... your sewer line is collapsed. It's gonna' be expensive." 6.) You start freaking-out calling as many people as possible to save the day 7.) They start coming, and you start learning what's happening 8.) You make a decision based on careful examination of each quote to LEARN what obstacles might come-up, and which ones are or are not included in the quote from the firm toward whom you are leaning. 9.) You select the firm 10.) You sign the contract and pay 1/2 up-front (in my case, work did not begin for nearly 2 weeks because of weather, and "other situations" that I didn't understand 11.) A huge construction crew shows up and starts

-hammering, banging, pounding, etc., etc., etc., for several hours 12) Holes get deeper and deeper. 13.) Fortification is put in place to prevent "cave-in" 14.) Inspectors show up to make sure everything is kosher and plan of action is correct 15.) More digging, fortification, etc. 16.) Troubled piping and/or traps are replaced 17.) Water line is replaced cause it is "lead" and is not PC in this day in age 18.) OH BIG THING: at the end of every work day YOU CAN STILL USE THE TOILET (major good feelings) 19.) Inspector returns to OBSERVE them laying and tightening the final pipe and trap installation 20.) Check-book to the ready; Balance Due Now, please 21.) More waiting as the holes are covered in a "temporary but professional make-shift mannter" 22.) After a looong weekend, crews return to do all concrete, cobblestone, and general excavation work required to finish the job. 23.) Start sprinkling down your really filthy sidewalks, and you're back to sanity

On a Saturday morning, the toilet on our main floor started to gurgle and even bubbled laundry soap. We called two other plumbers/sewer companies who came out and stated that they couldn't do anything for us because our sewer line didn't have an accessible clean out station - they thought things would be okay until we could get a company that could install a clean out station early in the week. That night we got a huge storm and the sewer backed up through that toilet. We called Roto Router on Sunday morning and

came out. Instead of giving up, he thought creatively about how to access the clogged sewer line and ended up rodding out the sewer line by removing the toilet and access the sewer pipe to temporarily provided us some security until a clean out station could be installed. He then set up the appointment for a week later and two other guys came out to install the clean out station.

then returned to perform the final rod out with a larger blade to clean up the last remaining tree roots that had caused our problem in the first place. While they aren't as clean and tidy as some other plumbers and didn't bring all their materials with them (for example they didn't bring their own buckets, paper towels and towels like some other plumbers do), I thought they did a great job.

Courteous and professional. Was referred to me by plumber I found on the site. He recommended this company. He said they would call in 10 minutes, which they did. Then 2 hours later they had someone at my house for the repair. Courteous, professional. They charged me exactly what they quoted me on the phone.

Great experience. I called

after another company walked away from the job without completing it.

undid the first firm's work, corrected it, and did the work carefully and well. It took a second visit, and more work, to get the system to work, but that additional work has completely resolved the issue. Throughout, they were prompt, courteous, patient and professional. Just as an example, the plumber insisted on staying after he finished so we could thoroughly test the new equipment. They were late showing up the first day, but the dispatcher was upfront and communicative about the delay, which is not something I can say about other service companies. They're not cheap (hence "only" the second-highest rating for price), but it wasn't unreasonable, in particular because they did such a careful job. They're worth the money.

My basement sewer drain backed up. I called late in the evening to make an appointment for the next morning.

arrived after being in close communication with me (phone calls to let me know how soon he would arrive). He hauled a huge electric snake machine down the basement steps quickly and easily, freed the drain in a matter of minutes, then sweetly offered to clean up!

came and assessed what needed to be done and gave me an estimate. It seemed reasonable for the amount of work involved and the complexity. He then got to work. He explained as he went along what he was doing and why. I was shocked how badly the drain was clogged. It had to be that way for years. I was actually pleased that it did not cost more or take longer.
We will see what the storm brings but in any case, we will have less water in our basement.
