of course had me worried.
initial estimate by $150, but that was understandable. He and his
workers arrived 10 minutes early, were very nice, and did a great job.
It took them longer than
they didn't rush and did a good job. There was no mention of having to
charge more despite the job taking close to eight hours when originally
We weren't expecting high quality finished carpentry here, just a basic wall with two windows, and
some sliding doors, but I am happy to report that what we got was
significantly better looking and well built than I expected, especially
for the price. I have nothing to compare the work to, since this is the
first time I've had a wall put into the house, but I am very pleased
with the work that
can do more work, and I'm already thinking of having them come back and
do some more work in the house.

This group is so well regarded that it has gotten many jobs in this building. Our neighbors say that the paint jobs have proven to be much more durable than other jobs, and ours looks as if it will last a long time too. Also, everything was done neatly and the painting was quite precise. Everyone involved seemed eager to do quality work and gladly returned for a couple of very minor touch-ups.

The big deal approach ($500 for 500 square feet of painting) was in hindsight not the best approach for me because I needed more than painting and a more individualized approach. it was a more complicated job and I would have been better off getting a range of estimates for skim coating.
So I didn't realize until the day the work was scheduled that it would be such a big undertaking and a high price. (The painters did not make a visit until the day the work was scheduled to begin.) If I had gotten estimates rather than a big deal, I could have had time to compare estimates, plan and prepare.
In terms of the job itself, it was a top quality job. For the price I paid, however, I would have liked better communication during the job. The workers themselves were trustworthy and I was comfortable giving them my key. But the communication was only done through the supervisor who was not on site constantly. So I didn't get an update every day about what went on.
To make a long story short, the project went on for two and half months with one worker.
