Plumbing Reviews in New York

the flapper on the toilet closes too quickly providing only half a tank per flush, not enough to give adequate suction. I had replaced the fluid master and flapper myself and purchased the base for the flapper to try next but as this was a tenants toilet decided that I would hire a professional to finish the job to return the bathroom to my renters as quickly as possible.
the plumber did come as promised on Monday morning, though 90 minutes after the appointed time.
I had asked him to purchase a ballcock to replace the fluid master, since that was the original design. A 9" device is not widely available and I figured he could access one more easily than I could. He agreed to do it but showed up with a fluid master instead (which I had already installed) for reasons that were never made clear. He then installed the flapper base (3 screws) for which he charged $120. He then insisted the toilet was clogged (it wasn't) and snaked it for $240.
The flapper still closed too quickly--the original problem--all he could come up with was to hold the handle for 15 seconds per flush--not a reasonable request for tenants.
He then claimed the waste pipe was 3" and this was the problem. This is untrue.
He then said I should purchase a new toilet which he would be happy to install--fat

These guys were great. They arrived on time, diagnosed the problem, worked in a timely manner, and communicated clearly at all times what needed to be resolved. They cleaned after themselves. They were polite and professional at all times. Definitely a recommend!!!!

Based on reviews I read on Angie's List, I called

when my AC, which is part of my buildings central air system, stopped working. While they responded quickly, the rest was downhill. Two technicians came to my condo and after taking the grate off and examining the unit, they showed me what looked like damaged wires and what they said was an oil stain on the system. When I asked if it could be refurbished, they said "no". They suggested that I buy a new unit for $3500 including labor but excluding tax. When I informed them that I would not spend $3500 until I got at least 1-2 more bids, they started to write-up a "service" invoice for $250. When I told them I would not pay for what was a "diagnostic call" , they ripped up the invoice and left. I guess they figured that a woman residing in a nice apartment was going to be an easy sell. Little did they know that I've run an organization that operates low-income housing for 25 years so I'm no

was very professional and thorough. He knew exactly what was wrong with my shower before even working on it, was courteous and respectful, and I would definitely use him in the future.

was the plumber on the new construction of my house. The owner and team are professional, punctual, and helpful. My only "complaint" would be that the finish work could use a little polish (not everything straight during install, etc), but they fixed everything that I asked them to and I just lived with whatever was good enough. Like their plumbers and staff very much.

I think the clog was so bad that the sink and tub were about to come face to face with g***. They immediately got to work and with some effort accomplished the job. I was happy with their work.
I think their accounting practices could be better because I began to write a check for service, but was told I would be billed instead. I was invoiced 4 months later. Perhaps business is too good.

plumber was on time and very polite. he even insisted on wearing booties over his shoes. he reviewed an outdoor drain that turned out to be not a drain at all but a pipe with a hole over it. even though there was no work to be done on that item the plumber came with me to another property a block away to fix a garbage disposal. he didn't even charge me above the service fee of $49 plus tax. this was very classy and i would definitely use them again in the future.

never showed up to fix our leaking faucet. He gave the job to another plumber, Empire State Plumbing, located in Whitestone, Queens without telling us. That plumber was 2 1/2 hours late for the appointment, about 19 years old, and had no idea what he was doing. He told us we needed to replace our faucets, took a check for $204 and said he would be back in an hour with new faucets to install. He never contacted us with the promised pictures of the faucet choices. We waited two hours and called Empire. They said they thought he was finished with the job and agreed to try to contact him. The "plumber" then called and said that all the plumbing supply stores were closed, which was a lie. It was a Saturday afternoon and Home Depot was clearly open. He said he would come back on Sunday, instead. Obviously, if the stores weren't open on Saturday afternoon, they weren't going to be open on Sunday--which also happened to be Mother's Day. I called Empire back to complain and received a call from a manager. I told him we were no longer interested in their services and instructed them not to cash our check or we would take them to court. (They mailed the check back to us about a week later.) I also left a message that same day with

, the Angie's-rated plumber we thought we hired. They never called back. Our first experience using Angie's List, and it was a complete and utter failure; what a waste of months of subscription costs. Oh, and by the way, our super fixed the sink; it was a $.69 cent washer that needed to be replaced!

on Monday afternoon. They were very nice on the phone as I explained my problem and had someone here Tuesday afternoon to assess what work needed to be performed. He (

was back, on time, with all the required materials. He worked very efficiently and kept me informed of what he was doing throughout the process so that I would be happy with the work when he was finished. I couldn't be any happier with the overall work and service that was performed.
