She made my birthing experience calm and beautiful. I felt that she was in control and very knowledgable. She took a situation that could be scary and made it a calming and relaxing one. She took great care to ensure that I did not tear while pushing. She also let me be in control. There was never any yelling to PUSH like the horror stories I had heard of birth. She let my body tell me what to do. I would recommend her to anyone.

In 2007, the Midwives helped me through two miscarriages - one of which required a DNC. They were compassionate, calming, and most of all there for me through it all. I can't emphasize enough how much their efforts on my behalf meant to me during those difficult times. When I returned to their practice in late 2011, after moving back to Cincinnati, I found myself unexpectedly (but happily!) pregnant. The Midwives have provided all of my prenatal care, including
panicked phone calls at night and treating me at the hospital when I fell. While I'm still several weeks out from delivery, based on the time, attention, and care I've received so far, I can only imagine they'll be fantastic during labor and with my follow-up care. The practice is one of the best for OB-GYN I've been to and I really can't recommend them highly enough. They're skilled, kind, and patient-centered - and all around terrific people.

Midwife Birthing Support reviews in New York

New York Midwives Provider Name Locked
is very personable, knowledgeable and professional. I'd used a midwife for the second half of my previous pregnancy (and used an OB/GYN prior to that).
New York Midwives Provider Name Locked
provides a personalized level of care that I think is difficult to come by in a standard OB/GYN practice.
While she does do home births, we elected a hospital birth at
New York Midwives Provider Name Locked
Hospital and the birth process with her went well. We're trying for baby #3 right now and I'll be using her again if we get pregnant.
- Michelle W.

Both of the home births went fine (they were about 4 years apart).
New York Midwives Provider Name Locked
helped me get organized afterward and even cooked food for my family after the first home birth she attended for me, so I didn't have to. That was nice because my husband could stay and enjoy our
New York Midwives Provider Name Locked
and didn't have to go fetch burgers. For the second one, she helped me get organized afterward, made sure the baby was doing wonderfully, too (she did that w/the first one too, no worries). I don't know if we'll have anymore pregnancies, but most definitely, I'd seek her out again and would encourage anyone pondering a home birth to at least plan a meet &
New York Midwives Provider Name Locked
with her.

Wonderful Experience with all 3 midwives at this practice - I switched to this practice late in my pregnancy because the other place I had been was just more of a disaster at every appointment.
New York Midwives Provider Name Locked
helped me get in and my records and tests fully reviewed immediately and was actually the midwife who delivered my baby boy. She was wonderful at every appointment - knowledgeable caring and really took her time with me. I can say this for all 3 of the midwives.
New York Midwives Provider Name Locked
is the senior midwife there and helps coordinate your experience - they all work wonderfully together. I honestly cannot say enough good things about them. She even opened the office one day after business hours to come in and check me out one day that I was having early contractions. Their relationship with the Dr's in the practice are also excellent. I also had a doula and all the midwives worked wonderfully with her as well to give me an integrated experience of my choice.

It went very well. Sometimes the wait is longer than expected but it is not surprising given the unpredictable nature of women's health needs, especially in a gynecological/obstetrical practice. The midwives are warm and talk to you about your general health before completing any procedures efficiently and with attention to your comfort and ease. They thoroughly explain anything you might have questions about. While the parking at
New York Midwives Provider Name Locked
can be a challenge, it is worth it for the professional care I have received with the midwives.

We worked with
New York Midwives Provider Name Locked
and the other midwives at Park Nicollet when we were pregnant with our first baby. Transferring from a typical OBGYN clinic was the right move for us. They offer a Centering Pregnancy program which is a mix of your traditional prenatal health appointments and a pregnancy/childbirth class. I highly recommend it.
New York Midwives Provider Name Locked
is so professional, but laid back and personable. She gave us so much information so we could make informed decisions about our pregnancy. The midwives at Park Nicollet are on staff at the hospital, so you really get the best of both worlds with this program.

New York Midwives Provider Name Locked
is amazing! Throughout my pregnancy I thought they were terrific, but when I had unforeseen complications and had to be induced our midwife
New York Midwives Provider Name Locked
stayed at the hospital with my husband and I for the THREE DAYS that it took to give birth. Without the patience of the
New York Midwives Provider Name Locked
midwives I would have more than likely had a c-section, but the whole team was attentive and kind and supportive and really made an effort to ensure that my birth was as close to the one I planned as they could. I would recommend
New York Midwives Provider Name Locked
to anyone and everyone!

Where do I begin? I kept ruminating as to how I could write a review that would do the people at ObGynNorth justice. It’s not the same as writing a review on a restaurant or car dealership. This is childbirth. This is a life-altering, once-in-a-lifetime event (even if you have multiple children- each child only gets one birth) that has the potential to shape the course of your child’s existence. So it is with this in mind that I make my feeble attempt to construct a deserving review for the care providers that I feel made a tremendous difference in the birth of my first child. I’ll start at the beginning. My birth plan consisted of the desire for a natural birth (However, if you have a different birth in mind that should not dissuade you from opting to birth with ObGynNorth, nor should it be the determining factor to cease reading this review. Although, fair warning- it is very possible that this might be a long-winded review). ObGynNorth was sadly not the first OB group that I went with, but actually the 3rd. I first started out with a birthing clinic. It was actually quite difficult to get in with this clinic, and by the time I finally got an appointment, my what would eventually be diagnosed as hyperemesis had taken its toll. On top of being extremely ill, I had the misfortune of a dreadful, damaging first appointment with a rather callused midwife who told me to suck it up (as women go through this all the time- using her revered self as reference). So after that first appointment with the birthing clinic I opted to go back to the drawing board and find another prenatal provider (now short some money - lesson being make sure you read the fine print!). So now I found myself quite sick and desperately needing another provider. My significant other pointed out ObGynNorth due to their reviews, Dr.
New York Midwives Provider Name Locked
’s credentials, and the fact that they utilized certified nurse midwives while being one of the few providers that truly embrace a natural birthing philosophy. However, due to some complaints that the office was overly busy, and it was hard to get appointments, I opted to go with Dr.
New York Midwives Provider Name Locked
(of Women’s Renaissance Group). This was the provider that my sister had been referred to through her husband’s work. I stayed with Dr.
New York Midwives Provider Name Locked
until I was 36 weeks along. I had doubts about staying with her practice all along the way, but didn’t get the courage/
New York Midwives Provider Name Locked
to leave until I started really contemplating my little girl’s impending labor and delivery (and people kept referring me to
New York Midwives Provider Name Locked
’s office!). I didn’t like that at 36 weeks I had only met with the actual OB maybe three times total, and that I was never going to get the opportunity to meet the other on-call doctors that could very well deliver my child. I also didn’t like what seemed to be a passive acceptance of my birth plan (among other things- but these are only mentioned to highlight and contrast my experience with ObGynNorth). So finally I made the switch to Dr.
New York Midwives Provider Name Locked
’s office. I cannot even begin to explain how grateful I am that I did. I am fairly sure that if I had not, my delivery would have been via c-section (something the nurses at St.
New York Midwives Provider Name Locked
’s confirmed). I had a very challenging delivery spanning three days. It was not the natural delivery I had hoped for (due to concerns of fetal distress [heart rate decelerations, baby positioning, and decreased activity level], but it was an informed delivery in which I was afforded every opportunity to be an active part in the process. What impresses me the most is that in this day and age of liability fears, they allowed me to take some risks (according to the current medical establishment) so that we could avoid the all too commonly depended on c-section. From the get-go (albeit at 36 weeks), I received exceptional care. I did not have any problem getting appointments, speaking to someone regarding impromptu concerns, or receiving what I felt like was their complete undivided attention. As a matter of fact, I felt less rushed and brushed over in those four weeks with ObGynNorth than I did for the entire duration with my previous care providers. They accommodated my late arrival and made sure I got to meet all the providers (so I would actually have some sort of relationship with the individual delivering my child). They took time during each appt to answer my questions, in addition to offering insight (which up until this point I had not experienced). They even allowed dad to administer the Doppler on our first visit (this was my favorite provider- the one who ended up delivering my baby girl-

). Then of course there was the labor and delivery. Since mine spanned three days I actually had
New York Midwives Provider Name Locked
for most of the labor, and Dr.
New York Midwives Provider Name Locked
for the start and the tail end.
New York Midwives Provider Name Locked
was with me throughout the nitty gritty of the process. She was incredible to say the least. She was warm and comforting, nor put off by the fact that I wanted to be an active part of the process. She listened to my input (not passively either), and kept me informed the entire time (not talking down to me, but also speaking candidly- not watering the information down).
New York Midwives Provider Name Locked
didn’t go home after her shift ended either. She stayed even after Dr.
New York Midwives Provider Name Locked
took over, seeing the birth of my child through.
New York Midwives Provider Name Locked
wasn’t just a provider who came in and caught the child. I received consistent, constant care from her (and distance when I needed it). Her personality, and expertise make her ideal for the position. Here is someone who found her calling in life. She made a huge difference in my life, and most importantly- the life of my child. I would be remiss if I left out praise for Dr. Sebesyten. It is her unique practice that forges new territory in a climate that is quite murky (our country’s c-section, induction, and infant mortality rates are astounding). I believe that her practice is truly life changing, and she leads by example. Even though Dr.
New York Midwives Provider Name Locked
was technically off during most of my labor, she played an active behind-the-scene role (and an active role when she came on-call during my pushing phase). She was in constant contact with
New York Midwives Provider Name Locked
, and even monitored my child’s fetal readings from at home (the plus side to technology). Her encouragement, and expertise (as we ended up needing a vacuum-assisted extraction) helped ensure a vaginal delivery and a healthy baby girl (despite the tremendous amount of meconium in-utero, and a stressed baby girl who was not digging the birthing process). After we finally succeeded she hugged me, and told me she had been rooting for me all along the way, although I gave her some

! In the end, it wasn’t my ideal birth, but I rest-assured that it wasn’t because my doctor was afraid of being sued. They did everything in their power to avoid a c-section (and there were many times it became scary, and it seemed a c-section was inevitable). Ultimately, their prime concern was our health and wellbeing, along with my wishes (knowing that meant avoiding a c-section). Their outstanding care did not end at labor and delivery either. All of the doctors from ObGynNorth came to see my daughter and I while I was in the hospital. I now know why Dr.
New York Midwives Provider Name Locked
was given the title of
New York Midwives Provider Name Locked
’s Best Obgyn with
New York Midwives Provider Name Locked
’s Birth Choice Awards, and why she and the people she practices with receive such rave reviews. They earned them! I am not sure that my own review has really done these people justice, but hopefully it has encouraged some mothers out there to go where they will receive the best care. I would continue the attempt to explain my gratitude and praise, but I have a perfect little girl to take care of :)

The midwives (I've met with two of them thus far -
New York Midwives Provider Name Locked
New York Midwives Provider Name Locked
) were both amazing. Took their time in meeting with me, talking with me, addressing questions and concerns. I switched practices from an OB-GYN in
New York Midwives Provider Name Locked
to this practice to get a more hands on experience and feel like I wasn't just another pregant person. Since this is my first child, I really want this experience to suit me and my husband and we want to surround ourselves with as much support as possible. The midwives group does just that. I highly recommend them, and anyone who read the previous review should understand that it was only one person's opinion as is mine. However, I have had nothing but a wonderful experience thus far.
