Awful -- Scsepko is a liar and a thief. He did the demo but then never installed the new walls or doors. His electrical guy did everything illegal (14 gauge wiring, multiple
junction boxes), and he left the wiring exposed in my son's room and my little boy (6 years old) received a bad shock. Scsepko left the work unfinished, with no explanation, and he won't answer phone calls or texts. I have to pay to have the whole thing redone.

I interviewed a number of contractors to finish the job and choose
because I was impressed with his precision and honesty and what appeared to be an excellent eye for detail. At first I thought there was just the last 20% of the job that needed to be completed but after a thorough inspection by
, it was clear that the cabinets and counter-top had been installed incorrectly and the electricity had been poorly wired.
was very honest with me about what needed to be done and gave me options about the extent of "repair" he could do for me. He told me that it was difficult to come after/fix another contractor's work and finish it; that he did not know what they would find once they dug deeper and, thus, indicated he could not estimate the job. He charted me for time and materials. He was upfront with his hourly rate and that of his team. He said he would try to keep his time (the most expensive) to a minimum to make it more affordable. In the end, there were few surprises. The amount came in around what he very roughly estimated in terms of hours and his team (especially
) were top=notch. The electricians that he uses, although not cheap, were top-notch. They were very responsive to my concerns about cost and did just what they needed to do to ensure that the job was up to code and that the wiring was correct.
All of
's workers arrived on time, were incredibly efficient, perfectionists and just all around nice guys. I love the kitchen and will be forever grateful for their work "saving" what could have been a nightmare experience with an unethical contractor (my previous contractor). I have since called
to do another job--a much, much smaller one--and again am pleased with the results. I will be using him often for my future contracting and renovation needs.

I: My LR window wall was crumbling and during cold weather the room was almost uninhabitable. The existing heating unit was an inefficient floor radiator which one turned on and off by bending down and reaching into an awkward little opening for a stubborn rusty knob. The radiator cover was ugly metal. Additionally, electrical components in my apartment were woefully outdated. And the place needed painting. I was completely at sea about how to remedy all this, where to go and whom to trust with the work.
Enter Clay. After assessing the problems, he offered to act as project manager and contacted three companies expert in their fields. One of Clay's many advantages is that over the years he has done many projects with reliable and skilled people, so he is able to recommend only the best to his clients. This also means that since everyone has worked together before, things proceed smoothly.
The old radiator and through-the-wall A/C was to be replaced with a single packaged terminal air conditioning (PTAÇ) unit combining heating and cooling. To house this new unit Clay designed a handsome cover with a panel that can be easily removed when necessary (as for maintenance). The new cover spans the window wall, going up to the sill and providing a wide ledge. Now not only do I have efficient heating and cooling, but the room looks more attractive.
I also needed a new ceiling fan, but was unsure what would look best. Clay took me to a lighting store (off the clock!), and sat down with me at the computer to go through websites. With his help I found the perfect model and had it delivered by the time the electricians arrived.
I cannot imagine how I would have accomplished all this without Clay overseeing it. The three phases of the project--A/C-heating unit, electrical work and painting--had to be carefully coordinated to avoid wasted "waiting" time. This was vital because removing the existing A/C was only part of it. The entire wall there had to be broken up and replaced, and my electricity had to be updated to accomodate the new unit. Then the wall had to be repaired and painted. Thanks to Clay's scheduling and the efficiency of the workmen, everything proceeded like clockwork. I couldn't believe how quickly three teams of workmen did their jobs.
As for cost, Ç

is completely fair in what he charges. And he's scrupulously honest. One phase of his work proceeded more quickly than he had anticipated, and he adjusted his bill down to reflect the fewer hours.
Phase II: Actually this began a year later, but Clay and I had discussed it during Phase I. I had always dreamed of floor-to-ceiling built-in bookcases in the living room, and since Clay is a meticulous and gifted craftsman I knew I wanted him to design and build them. (Being a painter and sculptor as well, Clay has a fine eye.) The bookcases had to span an entire LR wall, and have sturdy, adjustable shelves that wouldn't buckle under the weight of my books. And I wanted them to look elegant. In addition, I needed access to the outlet on that wall, so Clay had to adjust his design to fit that.
To begin, Clay sketched out a design and brought in

's Catalog to help me choose a cornice. He discussed the advantages and costs of different woods. During this time I had a new carpet installed. Clay had already taken measurements for the bookcases before this, but came over again to be sure the bookcases would fit with the additional height of the new carpet.
Well, I have my dream built-ins. They are topped with an elegant cornice, stand on a recessed base and have handsome side trim. Painted white, they go perfectly with my contemporary LR. Best of all, these bookcases can be taken with me if I ever move. They were built as five separate units, yet installed to look all of a piece.
Next, Clay designed free-standing bookcases for my bedroom. These house my extensive paperback library, so I had them built to fit paperback dimensions.
While in that room Clay noticed that my windowsill was eroded by water damage and thus quite shabby. He repaired the damage, then suggested a cover to protect the sill and add architectural interest to the window. The room does look 100 per cent improved!
My strange little kitchen has no display shelves and I wanted to show off some of my crockery. Clay built the perfect shelf for that.
Clay is certainly a "find." He's honest, personable, dependable and immensely talented--the kind of pro anyone wants working in their home. He and his assistant Nick were obviously an experienced team, working steadily and quietly throughout the day.
Clay uses his time efficiently. There were no delays. When he said he'd have a design sketch for me by a certain day, he did. Ditto for every phase of his work. He shows up when he says he will; is astonishingly neat and organized and cleans up beautifully at day's end.
When I'm ready for my next project, I will certainly call on Clay. I would not hesitate to recommend him.

Slight delay in starting due to building fault of contractor. Floor refinishing did not come out as expected, and it was redone at no additional charge. People very easy to work with.

made a suggestion we took, to build a bookcase running half the room, and we love it.

New York General Contractors Provider Name Locked
arrived to inspect work needed and to give estimate of same. This was in late October 2011, at which time he told us he would send the estimate. We never received any communication from him. By December 2, 2011, we called again and left a message with the receptionist. On December 5, 2011, we received a call from the receptionist to inform us that "he was not interested in the job". It was so unprofessional of him to ignore us completely and make his "receptionist" do his dirty work for him. Shame on him!

I seldom stop and write reviews but

New York General Contractors Provider Name Locked
is someone who anyone doing work on their home should know. This is a general contractor who treats each facet of the job as if he was doing his own home. He was extremely hands on with all vendors on my new home and negotiated on my behalf and saved me major dollars wherever and whenever he could. I just finished completely redoing a home from the very frame of the house through to the to bottom. He handled each and every aspect including the landscape. This was a seriously huge project which was made painless. It's nice to know that service and courtesy like this still exists and at super reasonable rates. For any of you doing work on your him first! a must try

In March we asked him to come up with an estimate for the renovation work to be done. He visited the apartment and when no estimate was forth coming he asked again to visit and measure (which we'd assumed he'd already done the first time). We continually asked him for an estimate, providing him with a detailed list of what work needed to be done. None came -- the best we got was a general figure attached to a non-specific work item, i.e., replace flooring $7,000. We liked Mr. Muamba and wanted to continue with him, but his lack of responsiveness and inability to deliver a professional estimate after 5 months had gone by forced us to consider alternative contractors. (Incidentally, when other contractors came to do estimates, they delivered detailed lists within a matter of days.) Meanwhile, Mr. Muamba was going to have the architect he works with come by the apt to draw up the needed blueprints. I asked that he do it anytime except the 3 days i was in the hospital as I wanted to be there and hear the architect's ideas and impressions. Mr. Muamba scheduled the visit while I was in the hospital, despite my specific instruction not to. The lack of estimate, the unresponsiveness to emails and phone calls, the constant stream of email excuses (headaches, family, staff, "cash flow") forced us to tell him we could not hire him as the contractor on the job, and we were sorry but we'd need the balance of our $10,000 deposit returned. Mr. Muamba agreed that he indeed owed us this money but said he didn't have it -- "cash flow problems" he said. He told us told draw up any payment schedule and he'd adhere to it. This was in

of 2010. We then were forced to hire a lawyer who then

up papers and devised a very generous payment schedule. Mr Muamba made not one payment -- not one dollar was paid back. In fact, he emailed our lawyer saying eh agreed with the judgment and would sign the papers and send them back "immediately." This was in early December of 2010. Despite what he wrote Mr. Muamba did NOT sign and return the papers and we've had no payment from him, nor has he returned any of our calls or emails. We have been very disappointed to learn that the man who we thought to be good and capable was in fact untruthful and dishonest in
New York General Contractors Provider Name Locked
and word, and he has quite a bit of our money that does not belong to him. At our lawyer's suggestion we contacted the Dept. of Consumer Affairs and have recently fund out that he "was not licensed at the time relevant to our agreement. In other words, he was unlicensed to boot. Unless Angie's List can help we'll be forced to take Mr. Muamba to Small Claims Court and try to recover our money. What we can never recover is the loss of time, emotional well-being, faith, trust and cash we desperately needed during renovation.

I've done 3 renovations and found that any renovation, large or small, is stressful. There is no getting around it. What sets
New York General Contractors Provider Name Locked
and his team apart from others is that they know it can be stressful, that the client will be stressed out that things go wrong that are not the fault of the contractor, and they work with you to alleviate the stress. They suggested work-arounds, alternatives, schedule changes, a lot of things--whenever problems arose, and on those rare occasions when they made a mistake, quickly took responsibility and made it right at no cost.
New York General Contractors Provider Name Locked
and his team of workmen are excellent. He provided an initial bid in a timely fashion, and worked with me to come up with a price that was within my budget but still accomplished the task. He began when he said he would, and proceeded according to schedule. When he found unexpected problems, we worked them out agreeably. He was very agreeable to revisions as we went along, and charged reasonably for the changes I wanted. He was always available when necessary, by email, phone, or if necessary in person. He regularly appeared on the job to supervise the work, although his team was so good that little supervision was necessary. His team was very professional, having had a lot of experience doing work of this type. The work took place right underneath the unit I live in, so I know it was not overly noisy. On the rare occasions that I wasn't satisfied with some of the work, he quickly redid it to my liking and did not charge me for this additional work. He involved me in decision making as much as I wanted to be involved. Some things I left to him and his judgment; others I accompanied HIM to Home Depot or other vendors to select cabinets, etc. I am extremely satisfied with the work that his company did. If I have another project of any kind,
New York General Contractors Provider Name Locked
would be the only person I would contact and be assured that he would give me a fair price. I wouldn't even have others bid a future job because with
New York General Contractors Provider Name Locked
I would know that his price was a good price, and he would do the work very well and on schedule.
