"In March we asked him to come up with an estimate for the renovation work to be done. He visited the apartment and when no estimate was forth coming he asked again to visit and measure (which we'd assumed he'd already done the first time). We continually asked him for an estimate, providing him with a detailed list of what work needed to be done. None came -- the best we got was a general figure attached to a non-specific work item, i.e., replace flooring $7,000. We liked Mr. Muamba and wanted to continue with him, but his lack of responsiveness and inability to deliver a professional estimate after 5 months had gone by forced us to consider alternative contractors. (Incidentally, when other contractors came to do estimates, they delivered detailed lists within a matter of days.) Meanwhile, Mr. Muamba was going to have the architect he works with come by the apt to draw up the needed blueprints. I asked that he do it anytime except the 3 days i was in the hospital as I wanted to be there and hear the architect's ideas and impressions. Mr. Muamba scheduled the visit while I was in the hospital, despite my specific instruction not to. The lack of estimate, the unresponsiveness to emails and phone calls, the constant stream of email excuses (headaches, family, staff, "cash flow") forced us to tell him we could not hire him as the contractor on the job, and we were sorry but we'd need the balance of our $10,000 deposit returned. Mr. Muamba agreed that he indeed owed us this money but said he didn't have it -- "cash flow problems" he said. He told us told draw up any payment schedule and he'd adhere to it. This was in

of 2010. We then were forced to hire a lawyer who then

up papers and devised a very generous payment schedule. Mr Muamba made not one payment -- not one dollar was paid back. In fact, he emailed our lawyer saying eh agreed with the judgment and would sign the papers and send them back "immediately." This was in early December of 2010. Despite what he wrote Mr. Muamba did NOT sign and return the papers and we've had no payment from him, nor has he returned any of our calls or emails. We have been very disappointed to learn that the man who we thought to be good and capable was in fact untruthful and dishonest in

and word, and he has quite a bit of our money that does not belong to him. At our lawyer's suggestion we contacted the Dept. of Consumer Affairs and have recently fund out that he "was not licensed at the time relevant to our agreement. In other words, he was unlicensed to boot. Unless Angie's List can help we'll be forced to take Mr. Muamba to Small Claims Court and try to recover our money. What we can never recover is the loss of time, emotional well-being, faith, trust and cash we desperately needed during renovation.

"I've done 3 renovations and found that any renovation, large or small, is stressful. There is no getting around it. What sets
New York General Contractors Provider Name Locked
and his team apart from others is that they know it can be stressful, that the client will be stressed out that things go wrong that are not the fault of the contractor, and they work with you to alleviate the stress. They suggested work-arounds, alternatives, schedule changes, a lot of things--whenever problems arose, and on those rare occasions when they made a mistake, quickly took responsibility and made it right at no cost.

and his team of workmen are excellent. He provided an initial bid in a timely fashion, and worked with me to come up with a price that was within my budget but still accomplished the task. He began when he said he would, and proceeded according to schedule. When he found unexpected problems, we worked them out agreeably. He was very agreeable to revisions as we went along, and charged reasonably for the changes I wanted. He was always available when necessary, by email, phone, or if necessary in person. He regularly appeared on the job to supervise the work, although his team was so good that little supervision was necessary. His team was very professional, having had a lot of experience doing work of this type. The work took place right underneath the unit I live in, so I know it was not overly noisy. On the rare occasions that I wasn't satisfied with some of the work, he quickly redid it to my liking and did not charge me for this additional work. He involved me in decision making as much as I wanted to be involved. Some things I left to him and his judgment; others I accompanied HIM to Home Depot or other vendors to select cabinets, etc. I am extremely satisfied with the work that his company did. If I have another project of any kind,
New York General Contractors Provider Name Locked
would be the only person I would contact and be assured that he would give me a fair price. I wouldn't even have others bid a future job because with
New York General Contractors Provider Name Locked
I would know that his price was a good price, and he would do the work very well and on schedule.

"Move was very fast and pleasant, they were good problem solvers too about a few odd situations with the new apt. Couldn't recommend rabbit highly enough. Great folks. Also one of them came back separately and did some great carpentry work"

"Some interruptions due to extensive rainy spells in '09, plus certain complexities of the house extended work-time for a couple weeks, but the quality and execution of the work was superb, with a consistently well-ordered and clean job-site.

and his assistant are impeccably honest and thoroughly skilled in multiple areas of building (structural and finish carpentry, painting, roofing, and general maintenance). We have known and engaged his services at least a dozen times over the past twenty years, and always felt thorough trust in his work and character. His pricing, though not inexpensive, is uniformly fair, but what brings us back to him again and again is the spatial intelligence of his work, and his consistently agreeable disposition. His scope of work has ranged broadly from building us a sizable home addition to fine crafting of furniture."

Ringl totally exceeded our expectations. This was a very small job, refinishing some raw oak window sills to match our pickled oak floors. He gladly accepted the work and then spent over a week doing test stains and finishes until his shop got what he considered a good match. It was not only good, it was dead on. And then two of his crew, a master carpenter,

and his assistant did the final installation, making sure everything was level, straight and square. Then,

did one of the neatest and cleanest caulking jobs to finish of the

returned all my calls and e-mails, if not the same day then by the next day, he showed up for appointments on time, he followed up if we missed each other (and we did, several times due to MY forgetfulness), he was very pleasant and reasonable to work with, very concerned about doing a good job and very solicitous of me as a customer. Excellent work.

"We moved into an apartment that needed renovation. My wife and I chose
New York General Contractors Provider Name Locked
because of his Angie's List rating, telephone conversations with previous clients and a reasonable price. My building required city permits for both plumbing and electrical work as well as approval from the building management company. Although it took some effort to get the approval,
New York General Contractors Provider Name Locked
and his contractors had a positive attitude and ultimately helped us get approved.

's crew basically redid our kitchen other than preserving a few cabinets. They did a great job. They removed our flooring and appliances, waterproofed the floor, leveled the floor, installed new tile and made the floor look great! Then they moved onto the cabinetry. The cabinetry required changes to accommodate new appliances. They did good woodwork, and when changes had to be made that were minor, they were accommodating and didn't try to nickle and dime me on cost. Next, they installed new appliances and hooked them up. My wife and I are very happy with the kitchen now thanks to
New York General Contractors Provider Name Locked
's crew's good work. In addition, they installed a new wall to make one room become two rooms. They installed the wall quickly and did a thoughtful job in rebuilding the moldings. Then, they replaced tiling in our bathroom and did a great job on that project as well. Lastly, they helped us replace a medicine cabinet and removed old fixtures from a closet. Throughout the project,
New York General Contractors Provider Name Locked
replied quickly to my emails, was friendly and professional. I'm very happy I gave
New York General Contractors Provider Name Locked
a call and RECOMMEND HIM!

was prompt and professional. The work in installling blinds was excellent. There was a slight issue re: communication on the phone about price for the overall job. But we quickly cleared that up.

issue. I would recommend his services."

"Started out as the dream contractor but quickly went south. Promised a 1-month timeframe, took 3-4 months. We finally gave up on getting our floors right, which were stripped, stained and sealed TWICE and we're still plagued with the polyurethane chipping off, air bubbles, etc. A very stressful and disappointing transaction. May be fine to use for small, short projects, but for major renovations, STAY AWAY."

"For $109k, the work was very good when he worked at the job. However, overall my experience was not good because: 1. It was not completed within a reasonable and mutually agreed upon time period. 2. Portions of the work were not completed correctly. 3. The consumer s home was left uninhabitable for extended lengths (4 months or longer) of time on multiple occasions while he accepted and worked on other more profitable jobs. 4. They damaged consumer provided parts/supplies/fixtures/etc., and have not provided financial repayment for the damaged items. 5. They refused to provide a readable complete and corrected billing for job. 6. Contractor did not provide a contract that included all information required by the Department of Consumer Affairs as stated in Home Improvement Consumer Guide, pages 9, 10, and 11. 7. Contractor was responsive to emails, letters and telephone calls pleading for work to be completed only when he thought it might benefit him directly. "
