They were punctual for the original bid and once the work commenced they were punctual as well. Great communication calling every time before showing up. I liked the fact that they recycled everything that they could to keep the costs down and to be green.
They did a nice job and I am pleased with them and the results, a nice group to work with. Ed even volunteered a tip for me regarding a ladder of mine that I was about to trash. I implemented his tip and the ladder is as good as new now.

This was the greatest purchase we've ever made. The bookshelves are EXACTLY what I wanted, even when requesting a more modern designer look than the traditional shelving. They used the best materials, allowed us to choose our cabinet door pulls, painted with the best paint. Were in and out in 3 7-hour days, cleaned thoroughly each day, gacve great instructions, and asked for our input at every step. It is a family business, all done my them:
, his wife, and his brother. They were prompt, quiet (as quiet as construction CAN be...), communicative, fast, and friendly. don't hire them. They're all mine.

I hired Mr.
New Orleans Carpenters Provider Name Locked
to do an extensive remodel of a master bedroom and bathroom in my home in Uptown New Orleans. We had problems with a roof leak, which had caused serious damage within the room to the ceiling and hardwood flooring. He contacted a roofer who successfully tracked down the roofing problem, then Mr.

built

in place to raise the support beams, which had rotted because of the leak, replacing all damaged wood to stabilize the ceiling and the area above double French doors, and rehung the sheetrock. He contacted a flooring company to replace the damaged hardwood flooring and matched the replacement wood to my undamaged flooring. He did such an excellent job on the bedroom, that I decided to have him work on the adjoining bathroom, which involved major demolition of several layers of lowered ceilings and additional flooring, bringing the room back to its original proportions. He met the delivery truck bringing my new bathroom fixtures and got those safely placed in the room including a large cast iron bath tub to a difficult second floor location. He constructed a shower enclosure and hung the vanity cabinets. Replaced all of the sheetrock in the room. He was able to put me in contact with other contractors who could finish the job, for instance a plumber, and an electrician. Personally, Mr.
New Orleans Carpenters Provider Name Locked
comes to the job site with a very positive "can do" attitude. I find him to be honest and reliable and would absolutely recommend him to others. § 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 0 - = Backspace Tab q w e r t y u i o p [ ] Return capslock a s d f g h j k l ; ' \ shift ` z x c v b n m , . / shift English

Pierce is extremely dedicated to his work. If you want someone you can trust to do a decent job, don't look any further. He has a rare work ethic - keeps you informed of his schedule, discusses his work plan, and keeps on it until finished. There were never any terrible surprises in the work and cost. Quality was great, he thoroughly knows carpentry. his plumbing and electrical partners were also good, responded quickly when he needed their input... Clearly they respected him. They first removed outer paneling and termite eaten 2x4's in carport. Replaced all damage but kept panelling intact as wasn't damaged. Improved lighting fixtures in carport, repaired hole in roof and large beams which where damaged. Painted. In shed, removed drywall and termite eaten 2x4's. Replaced all damaged wood. Removed a toilet and two sinks, not used for years. Removed inside walls which formed a closet - made one large room and more spacious. Fixed lighting and added about 4 extra electrical outlets. added ceiling with trap door for access to attic space. Used plywood to finish. All debris was removed as work progressed never leaving huge piles. Area left clean at end of every day. All in all a wonderful experience.

I will expand on this report in great detail in the coming weeks. This is a two part report. The first part will detail the outrageous shutter estimate (not yet written). The second part is about unpriced (no quote) restoration work on four windows (eight sashes) for which I was promised an absolute minimum charge based on actual work hours. But when I went to pick up the windows I was instead charged the outrageous sum of well over $5,000, a charge which stunned two other mill work shops who professional restore windows, both of the business owners telling me the new windows could have been made for that price. In fact, two of the three people I spoke to about this new the owner well and offered up the unsolicited advice not to go back there for any reason with a police escort.

The owner claims to work for the best builders in the city. That may be so, but it obviously does not translate into quality workmanship for home owners, as this report details. When I objected to the outrageous price he charges and pointed out that other mill work shops would do the work for half that amount, I was warned against doing business with them because I was a "quality" conscious person and would be disappointed with their work. Let me state flatly that the work on these four windows was unconscionably poor quality, and I have the photographic evidence to back up that claim.

For right now I just want to post a warning to other Garden District families to stay as far away as possible from this business. For one, there is no legal recourse when doing business with them. I am informed that Guy "Carpenter" (the owner) has a lawyer partner who does not charge them for legal services. Thus homeowners are put in a position where legal action--the possibility of which their office manager made abundantly clear to me did not ruffle their

--makes no sense financially.

I have extensive photographic evidence for all of my claims of shoddy workmanship, as well as detailed records I kept for each sash before delivering them to
New Orleans Carpenters Provider Name Locked
in the paragraph labeled below as "GROSS INCOMPETENCE OR OUTRIGHT THEFT" in which I detail the disappearance of almost all of the historic glass in these windows, glass valued at between $40 to $50 a pane.

So far, here is a list of defects I have encounter: As I continue to expand this list, I am left with a feeling that I might as well taken that $4,000 and burned it.

1. Where rails were replaced and other corrective work done on the frames, they were nailed back together using very small finish nails These were made in 1869 out of antique Cyprus using tried and true

and groove joined together with wooden dowels. It never even occurred to me that someone would use nails to reassemble these precious old windows. And if you are going to do that, 316, marine grade nails are the only ones to use in this city, as any decent architect will tell you. How do I know what he used? If it is the wrong nails, it very well could rust out within a few years. In my opinion, this abuse of grand old New Orleans windows is unconscionable.

2. The pointed end of nails protruding out of the frame

3. Massive damage to the frames which they made no effort whatsoever to correct. This includes one place in which a nail is protruding over a quarter of an inch out of the frame.

4. Panes of glass cut so loose that the glazing does not cover the
New Orleans Carpenters Provider Name Locked
.

5. There appears to be at most a single coat of primer on these windows, and even that in chipped all over on each and every sash.

6. While attaching window locks to one of the set of window, the screw just pushed into wood as if nothing were there, INDICATING THAT ROTTEN WOOD WAS JUST PAINTED OVER. On the other side of the lock the meeting rail is clearly badly worn and nothing was done to correct it. So now in order to mount a lock on the window I must remove it and make the repair myself. Why? Why was I asked to pay the insane price of well over $5,000 for this gross negligence? What possible excuse can be offered to explain such incompetence?

7. On one of the window were there was massive damage to the window frame, even after installing all of the trim, light shines through from the outside. I have extensive photographic evidence of this also, and the repair necessary to to correct the problem.

8. Mr. "Carpenter" is using auto body filler or something equivalent to make frame repairs, instead of replacing bad wood. I found this out while making one of the repairs to his work.

9. The side of the window that slide against the window frame were painted. Why? No competent window renovation company would ever do that. It causes the sashes to stick when lifting and lowering the sashes. How can you even claim to be a window restoration company and do something like this?

stayed tuned....

New Orleans Carpenters Provider Name Locked
is a consistent and reliable performer for me for all of my rental properties. In this particular instance we had to do some touch up work to one of our apartments prior to the arrival of a new tenant. The list of chores included: repainting an interior room, resetting the toilet in one of the bathrooms, weatherizing a doorway that was leaking during heavy rains, switching a ceiling fixture for a ceiling fan and rehanging it elsewhere, repairing a leak under the kitchen sink and repairing and stabilizing a rear security gate for the apartment.
New Orleans Carpenters Provider Name Locked
took care of all of these things very nicely and quickly. A couple of items required a second visit, which was also managed efficiently and in a timely fashion.
New Orleans Carpenters Provider Name Locked
introduced himself to the tenant and in no time the tenant was very comfortable with him working on her apartment.
New Orleans Carpenters Provider Name Locked
is also completely trustworthy - he has keys to all of my properties where he has done work, and you never have to bird-dog him to make sure he shows up or gets the job done in a suitable fashion. You can leave him to get the job done, and he will get the job done, even over several days (should the job require a second or third visit, as with painting). Even if you are out of town, he will manage the job and the details on his own without your having to worry about whether or not he will show up and get the work done.
I recommend him very highly.

Came out and gave estimate, returned as scheduled the next week for repair, worked and finished in one day, actually under the original estimate. Looks great, cleaned up outside after the job, friendly and easy to deal with. Would recommend to others and use again.

New Orleans Carpenters Provider Name Locked
and
New Orleans Carpenters Provider Name Locked
were wonderful. They provided me with a reasonable estimate, were professional, punctual, and perfectionists. The wood flooring in the bedroom was a mess and I needed it to be leveled out before carpet could be installed. I was on a tight schedule to get this done in between other work. They came in and saved the day- getting the floor level so that the carpet installers could come the next day. They also painted and installed baseboards and window trim in several rooms, including a difficult bathroom with lots of corners. Their work was impeccable, they finished on time and were able to save me money on materials. They made sure I was happy with all the finished work, and had there been any issues, I know they would have addressed them immediately. I have a number of other projects that need to be completed, and I look forward to working with them again. I have already recommended them to a number of friends without hesitation.
