"Was preparing to gut and renovate bathroom. Went to Planation Marble to get prices. The two female employees that I encountered could not have been any more rude or unresponsive. I looked over the showroom and was never even acknowledged. One employee ...more seemed to have a nasty cold and continued to sneeze, snort, and cough while I was in the showroom. The other employee would only answer my questions with one word or minimal answers. Seemed like I was bothering them, so I left. "

and her helper arrived on time and went right to work cutting and measuring wood for shelves and braces. While
was installing the shelves, her assistant completed the electrical task and then returned to ...more assist her. Almost everything was finished the first day.
returned the next day for a short visit to touch up some of the painting and check for problems. As usual, I was completely satisfied. The pantry looks great. She has doubled the amount of shelf space. The outlet works. And the hood over the
looks like new.
Frenchman House is great!! "

"It went great. Nice fellas, easy to work with. No BS. No time waisting. Feel like I am in good hands at every step. Communication is never an issue. Truth is, I don't have too much to worry about. Things look great and feel solid. Tiles are fantastic, piping under the house is repaired and working.
about 8 weeks ago to obtain a quote on installing a kitchen in walk in basement of my home. They scheduled a time with me to come out and evaluate the room in order to provide a quote (which I took off for). The gentlemen evaluated the space and came up with ideas ...more on how to install the kitchen, took measurements, and evaluated my plumbing and electrical. I asked how long before I would receive a quote and he stated I should have something in about a week.
I waited two weeks and then contacted
again to follow up on the quote, they then said they needed to bring out a plumber to evaluate the costs (ok - fine, but when where they planning on telling me this?), So, I scheduled another appointment for the estimator and the plumber to come back out.
On the day of the appointment, I waited, and waited, and waited (took off again for this mind you), so I called after they were about an hour late and they said they had forgotten but would send someone out that afternoon. 4 hours later they did send the estimator and the plumber out, went down stairs, spent about 3 mins (or less) and said they have everything they need....
4 weeks later.....I still don't have a quote on the kitchen install...lol, and I have no plans on calling them back. It's a real shame to, I budgeted close to $100k to have a new kitchen installed downstairs and if that went well I was going to completely remodel my main kitchen upstairs....better luck next time.....Maybe you'll have better luck with these guy's but I was not at all impressed. was very responsive when I initially called. He actually answers the phone, somewhat of a miracle in itself in New Orleans. I made an appointment for him to come by and estimate the job. He turned up when he said he would and gave me an estimate and time frame for doing the job. I provided the materials, all purchased from Lowes ...more which included tile, grout, backer board, backer screws, etc. I also removed the old tile and backer board (not a job I would recommend) which saved a lot of money.
also said that I could
the backer board myself and save some more money. I didn't do that. We had 2 of
' guys at the house each day, the same two each day. They started on a Saturday at 8:30am and worked until 5pm. They did this every day and finished the sealing of the grout on Thursday morning. They left the area clean when they left and did an excellent job.
does all remodeling projects and will be the first person I call when I want anything else doing. I had a couple of other quotes which were a little more expensive but included materials. "
works intensely with a small crew of 2 other people. He is very knowledgeable and takes part in every part of the renovation. Nothing is left to his crew to do alone. This is generally great, but also can lead to prolongation of the project. Our project was supposed to take about 3 months, and it ran over by 2 weeks (small ...more delay when compared to other contractor stories). That is the only reason I rate a B on punctuality - but this may not be fair as it was our first experience with a contractor and there were some weather related delays. There is also the silver lining of
being involved in every aspect of the job - it takes more time but it worth it for complicated jobs on older homes.
The work was solid and well-done, used recycled doorways and trim from our house, and used new more durable products on the exterior.
was easy to ask questions to, provided good responses, and handled change-orders well. We were most impressed with his ability to include "surprises" in the initial estimate and contract so that we did not incur many cost-overruns. For instance, although the work focused on the rear wall,
saw some issues with the side framing and wrote in corrections to those in the contract. This made the contract higher than other estimates, but it was a good thing to be able to budget for the underlying problems ahead of time and get the work done properly. Cost overruns were less than 5% of the initial contract price, excluding change orders from us that were not required. Overall we are very happy with the quality of work and our renovated house. "I embarked on my kitchen and bathroom renovation of my New Orleans double with great expectations, and much ignorance. I chose
because a neighbor had just competed a beautiful renovation of their old New Orleans house with Bastion. My project included a new bathroom and kitchen including three custom windows, new plumbing and ...more electrical, wainscotting with beautiful moldings, custom open shelves and painting and repair of the walls of my kitchen, living rooms and bedroom. The project manager, Baha, is very attentive to detail, explains the options and possibilities and enjoys the process of bringing out the best in an old, oddly shaped house . He never rushed me to make decisions. He has high standards and was sure that each step of the project was done right, and to my liking. Now that the work is done, I feel like the results I will live with are of high quality, and will be a pleasure to use and admire. My old house will be practical to live in for the first time. My new rooms are better than they ever were and better than I had even envisioned, and they still fit into the 120 year old style of the house. "
