The metal front porch railings were unscrewed and the whole railing removed (
had designed it this way knowing that one day in the future we would need to do this for some kind of repair or fridge removal!) A scissor lift devise was rented to take down and out the old unit and lift up the new unit. Then the railings were rescrewed into place. All of this was accomplished in about 90 minutes, with the help of a four person team. Our hardwood floors were not scratched, no nicks or dings to house or furniture! Only a newly installed and leveled fridge sitting in the place of the old one told us that anything had been done :) As always,
Laws was a pleasure to deal with....punctual, upbeat, helpful, and a real professional! My husband and I HIGHLY recommend
Laws if you are considering building or renovating a home. You can be assured that he will do a fabulous job AND he will be there in the future if/when you need him.

Personalized service, constant updates, always did exactly what they said with no runaround. My family has a beautiful home that was well-constructed at a competitive price, and WE ALL couldn't be happier. These people know what customer service is all about PERIOD

This contractor (
New Orleans Home Builders Provider Name Locked
) made every single appointment on time during the course of nearly a year. He managed and supervised the entire process. He didn't hesitate to rip out something that was incorrect and redo the work. Since we've move in, he's returned to correct or change some things that would occur at any new home.
New Orleans Home Builders Provider Name Locked
and his crew have been just great. I would use him again and again.
With all the horror stories I've heard about contractors we were careful with whom we chose to build our new home. We certainly chose the best person / company. If anyone would like more detail, I'd be happy to help. Our new home is in New Orleans, LA. I simply cannot say enough good things about this project. By the way,
New Orleans Home Builders Provider Name Locked
completed our home 60 days ahead of schedule.

works intensely with a small crew of 2 other people. He is very knowledgeable and takes part in every part of the renovation. Nothing is left to his crew to do alone. This is generally great, but also can lead to prolongation of the project. Our project was supposed to take about 3 months, and it ran over by 2 weeks (small delay when compared to other contractor stories). That is the only reason I rate a B on punctuality - but this may not be fair as it was our first experience with a contractor and there were some weather related delays. There is also the silver lining of
New Orleans Home Builders Provider Name Locked
being involved in every aspect of the job - it takes more time but it worth it for complicated jobs on older homes.
The work was solid and well-done, used recycled doorways and trim from our house, and used new more durable products on the exterior.
New Orleans Home Builders Provider Name Locked
was easy to ask questions to, provided good responses, and handled change-orders well. We were most impressed with his ability to include "surprises" in the initial estimate and contract so that we did not incur many cost-overruns. For instance, although the work focused on the rear wall,
New Orleans Home Builders Provider Name Locked
saw some issues with the side framing and wrote in corrections to those in the contract. This made the contract higher than other estimates, but it was a good thing to be able to budget for the underlying problems ahead of time and get the work done properly. Cost overruns were less than 5% of the initial contract price, excluding change orders from us that were not required. Overall we are very happy with the quality of work and our renovated house. Working with
New Orleans Home Builders Provider Name Locked
was a good experience.

They came out after a hailstorm. They kind of persuaded you to use their services, so they could contact your insurance company. They're not really responsive on your calls or returns. The workmanship was really poor. The materials that you choose were good. It's just the workmanship that was bad. They take a long time to get back to you, or to return your calls. If they come back to make repairs, they use silicone or duct tape. They trample all over landscaping, not taking responsibility for it. They don't do what they say. We hired our own inspector to make sure the work was done properly. The reports came back with negative remarks. The contractor just left the job without a response. It was really terrible work.

I contacted
New Orleans Home Builders Provider Name Locked
because upon asking for a recommendation from coworkers and friends, 2 unconnected coworkers recommended him as their handyman. I contacted
New Orleans Home Builders Provider Name Locked
because I was hoping to purchase my first home but wanted a professional estimate for work that was needed and/or cosmetic updating. In full disclosure, I am a twenty-something recently married and am not originally from New Orleans so I was very inexperienced in the home repairs process and did not have family close by to rely on for advice.
New Orleans Home Builders Provider Name Locked
was very nice to meet me at the house and was very honest. He is one of the best communicators among contractors I've ever met!! He was always open to questions and didn't mind answering the same questions multiple times. He was very clear and concerned about presenting different options and price points. Not once did I feel overrun or questioned about why I wanted something changed. I find that he is a unique diamond in the rough land of gem contractors! I've had many interactions with other contractors who ask you to tell them what you want and just ignore your wishes because "they are the professionals."

I wouldn't hesitate to trust planning projects with him!

REVISED POST

The following entry is to correct certain statements in the previous post.

Although I stated previously "My husband was convinced he (
New Orleans Home Builders Provider Name Locked
) bought the home", we later learned that
New Orleans Home Builders Provider Name Locked
was not involved with the purchase. I also stated that
New Orleans Home Builders Provider Name Locked
provided a "10 line (category) estimate". Instead, Mr.
New Orleans Home Builders Provider Name Locked
provided 11 categories. Further the actual estimate was $398,941.89, not $400,000 as was stated.

In reconsideration of these and other factors, I am also revising the grade(s) associated with my experience with
New Orleans Home Builders Provider Name Locked
, Inc. However, despite these revisions, I remain very disappointed. This post and my previous post reflect only my personal opinions.

When I talked to the salesman I was supposed to get two AC units. After the house was built there was only one in there. After I complained, the owner said it was not in the contract. They also said I didn't need one and never honored this. They also put in 8 ft. ceilings instead of 9 ft. which was in the contract. There was a lot of other things that went wrong. I had picked out oval medicine cabinets but they put in flat mirrors instead. I did get them to change it out on two of the three bathrooms. They said the third one couldn't be done. I was not happy with their service and regret using them. I would not use them again.

The work started off ok with the exception of delays after taking the roof off my house which resulted in serious interior flooding in the kitchen due to rains. This damage was never repaired by the company. Construction continued and was near completion over two months behind schedule at which point I was presented with an additional list of charges over and above the agreed upon amount. I paid what I owed with the exception of the additional charges which I agreed to pay once work was completed. This arrangement was agreed upon by
New Orleans Home Builders Provider Name Locked
and myself. After the check cleared I never saw
New Orleans Home Builders Provider Name Locked
nor his partner
New Orleans Home Builders Provider Name Locked
Fousse again. Essentially, I paid the total price of the contract and they left me with over $3,000 in repairs and unfinished work to my home. In addition to the unfinished work,
New Orleans Home Builders Provider Name Locked
hired unprofessional subs to do work in my home. The crew that did the mudding and taping caused damage to many of the surfaces in my home that they weren't even supposed to be in. The plumber was incredibly unprofessional and hostile. The electrician was prompt and courteous but he was never paid by them for my job.
New Orleans Home Builders Provider Name Locked
and
New Orleans Home Builders Provider Name Locked
Fousse simply cannot be trusted to complete the work you hire them for.

I attempted to act as my own contractor prior to hiring

New Orleans Home Builders Provider Name Locked
is extremely knowledgeable, a former president of and an active member of the Homebuilders' Association. He shows up when he says he is going to a first for me (I have had two other major renovations in the past that didn't go so well). He worked with me to accomplish my goals, or let me know when something was impossible or impractical. I am very pleased with the end result.
