, was spectacular. She made sure all of the details of our purchase were correct. I was amazed at how accurate she was in putting our order together. The windows look almost exactly like the ones we replaced, which is what we wanted. I thought I'd find something wrong after checking the order but everything was just as it needed to be. She never tried pressuring us into buying the windows either. She told us what we needed to know, gave us a quote and let us think about it. The installation was a bit of an issue, but in the end the job was done well. The Monday through Wednesday install ending up being Tuesday to Friday early afternoon. If my work wasn't so flexible this would have been a problem. Before signing off on the install, I pointed out gaps in 5 windows which the crew had to fix. The screens were hastily put on as well but this was a minor inconvenience.

came promptly, answered all my questions, and did not use hard-sell techniques. he measured, put in the order, and the windows were ready within the time given me. the installation crew was and competent, and in spite of being short-handed, completed the job in around 5 hours. i ordered 13 windows, but the wrong size was sent and it had to be reordered."

"After the estimate, the work on the deck began promptly, and was completed in a day. One morning's brief rain meant that it had to wait until the next day, but that was no problem. All aspects were fully explained, and the entire job was completed as promised. The window repair was also done in very short order, and was done with so little effort apparently that I really don't remember much about it!"

They are over priced, but for a homeowner who wants a quality product with service over time, they are good. Job #2 was disaster. The three problems were 1) poor communication, 2) inaccurate measurements, and 3) faulty final product. THE STORY: I wanted new windows to add light to a basement room. Per

, I had another company cut the holes and frame in the windows. THEN

(AHD) sent out a man to measure for the windows. He asked the framing carpenter, who was there, to add more framing to make the holes smaller. The carpenter questioned this, but did exactly as directed. I asked for the windows to be expedited because plywood covering the holes = security problem. AHD said they would ask and call back. They never called. Five weeks later (no expediting), the windows came. The lead man measured and measured and kept saying that the windows were too small and kept asking what did I want to do about it. I kept saying I didn't know what to do about it, that I knew nothing about how to fix windows. He said, well "it's your house." I said, "If I had a plumbing problem, even though it is my house I wouldn't know how to fix it." He said they couldn't go back to the office and ask for new windows because "the office would be mad." I said that was their problem. I had contracted for correctly fitting windows to match the existing windows. About a week later I got a call from AHD asking to reschedule the install. I said the windows didn't fit. I was invited to speak with the president of the company. He said that he would send another measurer to ensure the windows were the correct size. #2 measurer came out. He said the windows were the correct size and would look exactly like the other windows when installed. I said I had heard two conflicting stories and the trust factor was gone. He kept interrupting me. I asked, "Does anyone at AHD listen?" He asked me for an apology, which I did not give. Soon thereafter he interrupted me again. I told him that was the fourth time he had interrupted me in the last five minutes. He seemed to realize the behavior at that point and things calmed down and he left. Another week passed. I got a letter from the president explaining the measurements and assuring me that the windows would fit and look exactly like the other ones. I was just worn down with worrying about windows. I called, made an appointment for the install. They came. They installed. The windows do NOT look like the others ones; there is more trim because they DID have to infill due to the error of the original measurer. Moreover, until I had threatened to not pay for the balance of the windows did anyone in the company listen to what I had to say. So there were three problems: communication, inaccurate measurement, and faulty final product. I would NEVER use this company again."
