"He estimated the cost over the phone. Showed up when he said he would. Explained the steps that were required and a timeline. Finished when he said he would and" cleaned up after himself. He then explained the dos and the 'ts of the new surface and when it would be dry and when it would completed cured. And for the tub? It turned out great. Thank you.

"I recently was fortunate enough to buy at auction my grandmother's house where I grew up. It had been out of the family for decades and needed a great deal" of attention. I particularly was interested in restoring the fabulous kitchen sink and metal cabinets. The cabinets were a mess... Rusted out shelves and, almost worse, a hand painted, streaked mess. Enter . He said the sink and tub were no problem but he really didn't do cabinets and that it would be for anyone, a tremendous undertaking of time. After talking back and forth I think he just saw how badly I wanted HIM to do it and agreed. Listen to me you Angie's List people...if you have anything that needs you WILL NOT DO BETTER THAN . I really am taking the time to write this because he went so far above and beyond any possible call of duty. We had agreed to let the insides of the cabinets go to keep the cost in my budget. He did them anyway. They are astoundingly gorgeous... Think brand new 1956 Chevy! The finish on them and the sink is that perfect. He is a professional... He is also an extremely nice guy... Believe me... The two do not ordinarily go together. I could not be more impressed. My uncle in an engineer. He wS very skeptical that these cabinets could be restored. He was blown away. Also know that his son Kieren is a professional car detailed and will be doing my car from here on out....great job. Check him out!

bathtub refinishing

Bathtub Liners and Refinishing

Over time, the bathtub can begin to show signs of wear with stains, scratches, a dull finish or other ugly marks. Bathtub refinishing is an option that can return a bathtub or shower enclosure to like-new appearance.

Dear Angie: We're remodeling our bathroom. Which is better to help increase the resale value of our home: a tub, a shower and one sink; or a big shower and two sinks? – Cal Z., Lakewood, OH

OK - terminology issue here. The "shower pan" is a collection liner than underlies the shower floor itself, and is designed (if built and plumbed right) to trap any leakage from the shower floor and route it to the same floor drain pipe. Example image here, copper in this case -

It sounds like your are saying the shower floor or base unit failed - likely a fiberglass or plastic shower, which commonly fail due to incomplete support under them. This can be repaired if fiberglass, but is not usually done unless just microcracking, as it is hard to find an expert - usually you have to have a car body fiberglass specialist or a surfboard repair expert do it, and the color will not match perfectly unless you get a new gelcoat over the entire base unit. Cost about $300-500, ASSUMING the material can be repaired - true fiberglass can, thermoplastic can sometimes be welded but anyone's guess how long it will last without cracking again, plastics like PVC can rarely be fixed so they will hold someone standing on them. Any sort of repair is likely to crack again, because you have done nothing to remove the cause of the cracking which is standing on a base that is not fully supported over its full extent. Some cheepo or desperate plumbers try injecting non-pressuring type expanding foam underneath to improve the support - this does a great job of supporting it but unfortunately supports mold, so starts stinking in short order as a rule.

The normal fix is to remove and replace it, because once it is out there is no sense in putting a damaged one back in for the small increment in cost. Removing it means taking the shower wall liners or the bottom row or two of tile out so you can get the new base unit into place (because they overlap it), then replacing them. So, the $3000 range indicated is indicative of this type of job, which typically runs from a very low of around $1500-2000 for an identical base unit, to more typically $3-5,000 depending on whether a shower enclosure or tile walls. Of course, when the new one is put in, it is CRITICAL that it be fully supported - this means rubbing plumbers rouge or similar marking substance on the bottom, test fitting it, and then lifting it out and checking that all the stiffener ribs and support pads made contact with the pan, and making adjusments as necessary until it has full contact, then standing in it and rocking back and forth to check for any points not making full contat and fixing them.

The $10,000 plus numbers you got must have been for entire shower replacement down to the joists and studs, and the $30,000 range number would be typical for a full bathroom remodel with new shower or shower/tub and doors and surround, wall finishes, vanity, sink, toilet, and flooring and door.

Bathtub Refinishing reviews in Nashville

We never got to use these guys, because we decided to sell building. BUT...they were so nice and so responsive, I actually felt guilty cancelling the job. and Ed were helpful, informative, professional, called back immediately, and seemed so trustworthy . Just call them and see what I mean.

We had to postpone our initial appointment at the last minute and weren't sure when we could reschedule, but when we finally were able to set a date, we called back and left a message. Mr. soon called back to say he had an opening the following morning. He arrived promptly and began the job. The pedestal sink had been moved ...More out of the bathroom in order to replace the water lines. He moved the (heavy!) sink back into the room and set it in place, covered everything in our newly painted bathroom, set up the ventilator fans and got to work. It was finished in about two hours, After the work was done, he left everything in good order -- no dust, no mess. when I asked about the strong odor that resulted from the process, he suggested opening windows for a little while, but assured us that the odor would dissipate as the surface continued to dry. He was friendly and energetic and very professional, and the sink looks good again. We actually paid less than the cost of the service. He told me as I was writing the check that he had misquoted the actual cost on the phone, but that he would honor the cost he had quoted and would not ask for anything more.

We used about three years ago to resurface two bathrooms in a rental unit. We have been very pleased with their work and the way the surface has held up. So when we decided to re-do bathrooms at our house we decided to use them to resurface in two of our three bathrooms. Their work is excellent, and both bathrooms look like new. ...More People who use this process need to remember to clean only with non-abrasive cleaners and nothing caustic. Both in our house and in the rental unit we did a mix of solid color surface (white or beige) and a stone look for some countertops. Turned out very well. The representatives were professional, arrived when scheduled, and completed the job in the time frame scheduled. We would use them again. We have seen other examples of re-surfacing that didn't turn out as well and did not hold up under use. seems to have the right process!

Overall I had a very positive experience with , and would use them again, but don't be deceived by their Angie's List coupon/discount, because it isn't quite as good as it sounds. It is true that they refinished my tub for $500, but apparently that doesn't count removing the old finish which they still charged ...More an additional $170 for, so the tub wasn't truly refinished for $500. Still, the coupon saved my about $50 so at least that's something.
To focus on the positives, first and foremost, the actual job they did was fantastic. The tub I was refinishing was kind of a disgusting nightmare and it really looks better than new now, and it was all done in basically a day. They also did a fine job re-caulking around it. I had a very good experience with both the person who did the estimate, and the one who did the actual work. They were very professional and provided excellent communication. I would happily use them again and encourage others to do so. It is possible that there are people out there that may be cheaper, but was reasonable and most importantly, did a great job.
- Keith L.

When we bought our 50+ year old home, we knew we liked the vintage tiling in the main bathroom, but we weren't sure what to do about the etching, staining and scratching on the bathtub. Removing the tub would have been a huge hassle that would damage/remove the tiling we liked, so we contacted about refinishing it. He was ...More prompt, professional, fast and thorough. The tub (and the sink, which we wound up also having him do while he was here) literally looks brand new.
- Shannalee M.

is a class act. He had glazed my vintage refrigerator in past so of course called him for this job. Came out very quickly to give a free quote and when I accepted quote, he went on and did the work then. Very professional and arrived right when he said he would, which is a nice change from most (sadly) in the home improvement ...More arena who you are lucky if they show up at all or even return a call. Will call him for all future projects...A+++
- Tracey D.

They came out first and showed me the paint samples they had; I didn't like the colors, so I told them I wasn't interested in having the countertop painted. After they left, i called back and asked if they would give me an estimate to paint just the sinks. They called me back and said that because of the work and time involved, it would ...More be the same price as the whole countertop. I declined. They were very nice and professional and have since called and asked if they can ever be of service, to just call.
- Terry P.

I hired him to refinish the tub and tile in my guest bathroom. It took him about two and a half days total to complete the job. He was mindful of my animals and kept them out of the area. The price was great. He did a good job overall. There were a few small places that don't quite match the rest of the tile. Also he got some of his ...More product on my vanity which I can't get off. But it is not noticeable. No job will be perfect and I like supporting local companies. I will hire him again to redfish my master bath when the time comes.
