Window Replacement Reviews in Minneapolis

My husband is a retired architect and is very discerning regarding details. As a test, we had four
Renewal windows installed in our house last Fall. It was such a good experience, and the quality of the windows is so high, that we decided to replace all of our other old windows with
. The most recent work was installed on May 20, 2014. The windows have transformed our house, both from the exterior as well as the interior… we love the windows! The window(s) in every room are different and custom for that particular room and application: awning, casement, fixed, white interior, oak interior, off-white interior, clear vision panel, obscure/translucent panel for a bathroom, etc.. We are so impressed that every window is custom for that particular window's mission. Everything about the window product is high quality.
Everyone we have encountered at Renweal by
has been very professional: the salesman, the measurer, the third party asbestos investigation person, the scheduler, and especially the two installers!! The job was scheduled for May 20 about two weeks prior to that date. Despite rain and other things that might cause other contractors to renege on a schedule, the
team came on the day they said they would and did the entire job in one very long day for the installers. They are top notch!!

A neighbor recommended
to do the repair work, in addition to the local hardware store. I knew it was going to require custom work but wow was it expensive!! They were very prompt and scheduled us quickly (in a few days after quickly stopping by to take a look at it) and it looks great. I didn't have much of a reference for how much it would cost or who could do the work.

Window Replacement reviews in Minneapolis

Everything went well,
Minneapolis Window Installers Provider Name Locked
really knows how to restore windows well. He is very skilled and communicates information very well. He is friendly, prompt, courteous and honest. The price he charges for his service is very reasonable. We are very happy with our windows, they are much tighter now and open smoothly, which was always a pain before
Minneapolis Window Installers Provider Name Locked
worked on them.

First of all, this project is ongoing. In fairness to
Minneapolis Window Installers Provider Name Locked
we will update this review upon completion of this project.
We had a prior relationship with
Minneapolis Window Installers Provider Name Locked
. In 2011 they replaced 3 windows for us. While they were not cheap, the windows were quality and the installation went well. The windows went up and down smoothly, and we were very satisfied. Because of this, when we decided to replace 10 windows in our house we called
Minneapolis Window Installers Provider Name Locked
directly without getting any competitive quotes.
After we signed the contract a technician came out to do the final measuring, and he discovered a small discrepancy in our order. We ordered all our windows to have oak veneer rather than vinyl, and one of the windows showed vinyl. Of course there was a price increase. We would have ordered the windows anyway as we were spending $16K and this was a couple hundred dollars difference, but our salesman would not compromise on the price. Yes it was a mistake but it was not our mistake.
Now, the windows. When the installers were done, they pointed out that one of the windows had a wiggly sash and they would take care of ordering a replacement. They also said we should not be concerned with how tight the windows were. When I say tight, I mean difficult to move up and down. They said when the windows "settled" they would loosen up and become easier to open/close.
When we started staining the windows, one of them was so tight that it was scraping the sides of the lower window. Not only that but the handle on this window wiggled. When we went to tighten the screws ourselves we found the screws were stripped. The same thing happened on another window. So immediately 3 of our 10 windows had issues. Admittedly the stripped screws on the handles were minor issues but there should have been NO issues at all.
We waited 4 weeks for the replacement sash without hearing from
Minneapolis Window Installers Provider Name Locked
. After we inquired about it, it was there the next day. When the technician came to install the sash I asked him to look at window that was scraping itself and he determined it was shimmed too tightly and needed to be totally replaced. So, it was ordered 5 weeks ago and no word from
Minneapolis Window Installers Provider Name Locked
. I sent
Minneapolis Window Installers Provider Name Locked
an email this morning and
Minneapolis Window Installers Provider Name Locked
and behold, again it will be in tomorrow.
Suggestions for
Minneapolis Window Installers Provider Name Locked
- keep customers informed about potential delivery dates. 2 times after we inquired about the status of our orders "they will come in tomorrow". When the technician ordered the replacement window I asked him if it would be another 4 weeks and he said it shouldn't take that long as we are existing customers and they had the measurements. Ironic that he said that because as of today it has been 5 weeks.
I will update this review and "grades" when the project is complete. As of now we are totally unsatisfied customers.

I wanted a new front door that would still fit in with my 1909 house. I realized this would be spendy, but wanted something that looked really nice. I looked at a few brands, and
Minneapolis Window Installers Provider Name Locked
is really the only one that seemed decent enough to use. Setup an appointment for an estimate online, the rep showed up exactly on time with samples, etc that allowed me to purchase right on the spot. Got a discount for not financing, and another discount for fully prepaying.
On install day, they arrived again exactly on time, removed the old door taking great care not to damage any woodwork or walls that were being re-used. Being that it was a 100+ year old door being replaced, I think they had to jump through a few unexpected hoops, but in the end everything looks great, and the archiceture series door is well worth the preimum price. If you're looking for a premium door, then
Minneapolis Window Installers Provider Name Locked
is hands down the way to go. If you're looking for a cheap replacement, there are probably better options, but for premium options, I can't really think of any other way to go!

In January a window in our kitchen cracked in two places (me trying to melt the ice with a hair dryer on a setting that was clearly too hot). The inside pane of our insulated window cracked in two places. I was able to put tape over it to prevent too much condensation from forming, then found this company on Angie's List. I was contacted quickly. I was told that depending on how the glass was in there they may not be able to just replace the glass because when they go to take it out the wood frame splits. I took pictures to send him and he promptly replied that it looked like it would be fine and he could just replace the glass.
Someone then came out to get measurements. During this visit he told me that the vinyl frame outside was falling apart when he tried to take it off. We would need to replace this but he had to find one first. He contacted me a few weeks later saying he had found a company that had one. We scheduled a time for someone to come out- the day they did it was too cold and the window wasn't going to move easily. They came back a week later and completed the work quickly and it looks great! I would definitely call this company again for any window needs we had. They did whatever they could too help us fix our window including searching for a piece that was not readily available.

We have a 1916 South Minneapolis home with original windows and (for the most part) the original wooden storms and screens (the kind with hangers above the windows). We love the classic look these provide, but they are a big hassle -- swapping them out is a multi-hour process each spring and fall, and replacing some of them on the second floor involved climbing out on the roof. So, starting last year, we have been working with
Minneapolis Window Installers Provider Name Locked
to replace all of the storm windows on our second floor and some on the first floor.
The aluminum storms that
Minneapolis Window Installers Provider Name Locked
provides are from Allied Aluminum, a local Minnesota company. They come in a few colors and can be painted as needed. They look a LOT better than the old bare aluminum storms that you see from the 1960s and '70s and have noticeably reduced the draft coming in from the windows. They're also reasonably priced -- most have been around $250-300 per window -- much cheaper than replacing the entire window, and allows you to keep the original window intact.
In addition to replacing windows,
Minneapolis Window Installers Provider Name Locked
's specialty is carpentry work to repair older, rotting wood in window frames, casing, and sills. He has fixed multiple frames around our house and in many cases has been able to re-use good wood in his repairs to keep the cost down.
Minneapolis Window Installers Provider Name Locked
is a true craftsman and has an encyclopedic knowledge of issues and fixes for older homes, especially in South Minneapolis. He really cares about doing good work, leaving a house looking great, and providing a good value to his clients. I always enjoy working with him and look forward to continuing. The only thing to keep in mind is that it's mostly a one-man show, so it can take him a day or two to respond to you in the middle of the busy season.

The product used has a faux wood finish that very nearly matched the wood trim in our 1950's home, price was extremely reasonable, product is beautiful, job was done in 5 hours on the day scheduled. I think the floors were actually cleaner after the job than before, they were very good about cleaning up afterward. So pleased! We still have a picture window to replace one day, we will definitely use Pane in the Glass for that when the time comes.

Stay away from this company!
The job probably would have gone okay if they hadn't run into a problem, but they found that the soffit and facia was falling down on one side of the house. The installer called me out to look at it and said he could get the gutters up, but had no suggestions for how to fix the problem. When I asked him what my options were he said, "I don't know I'm just the gutter guy." He installed the gutters, but they don't work at all, the rain just pours down off the roof, never getting into the gutters. It is a much worse situation than I had with my old gutters.
When you call the office no one is ever home. An answering service takes almost all of the calls. I call
Minneapolis Window Installers Provider Name Locked
, the person who gave me the bid, and it always takes at least 3 days to get a return call. I have contracted with another company to fix the soffit and facia, but I can't get Northwoods out to take down the gutters so my contractor can do the work. They basically created a problem I didn't have before and also created an obstacle to me getting it fixed.
I work for a real estate developer and we work with contractors all the time, I should have gone with the firm recommended by our construction supervisor but they were scheduled out so far. We never hire anyone who can't work with you to solve a problem, because they come up so often.
It's been almost a month that I have been trying to get the situation resolved, and nothing has happened.
Minneapolis Window Installers Provider Name Locked
said he would have a crew out last Wednesday to take down the gutters, but of course that didn't happen.

- Deborah W.

Very responsive and professional. We had a slight scheduling issue where they accidentally scheduled for the wrong day but they were very responsive and apologetic. They were able to reschedule quickly for the next day which worked for us. When they arrived to do the work, they were professional and quick. The prices were very reasonable as well.
