The roofing team came out and completed our re-roof in 2 days - they were quick and completed quality work. The siding crew came, ripped off the siding on our house and then Window team came and started replacing our windows. They screwed up the windows: They were INSERT replacements - NOT the NEW CONSTRUCTION windows were repeatedly said we wanted. Additionally, 2 windows were wrong (they put the wrong finishing put on the wrong sized windows).
My husband called the representative from the company who had come to our house & taken the order, only to have him try to convince us why we wanted replacement inserts (even though we'd already told him at our house that we'd done the research & wanted NEW, not replacement inserts). The representative was less than customer-focused, arguing with my husband so my husband asked to talk to the owner. The owner was much more customer-focused, apologizing for the situation, offering that he could order the new windows but it would take another 3 weeks or put in the replacement inserts and provide us a discount on them since they were not what we had ordered. Based on the fact that it was the mid-of January with all our siding off our house at this point, we didn't want them to put the siding off & have to peel it back (risking damaging the brand-new siding) to put in the new windows 3 weeks later, we opted to just go with the replacement inserts but were EXTREMELY disappointed and unhappy with Window experience with
Finally, when we received the final bill, there were errors on it. The amount that should have been credited to us for error in the windows was added as another charge, rather than a credit.
In more detail: I started looking for a contractor in March, 2013 to handle removing and replacing roof shingles, removing a chimney fireplace bump out wall, replacing some cedar siding, and removing and replacing windows. After meeting with at least 6 contractors who I found via other internet review sites I was having no luck finding a business who I felt confident in hiring. Some did not respond with quotes (SELA was one of them), some could not handle all parts of the project, one was just a terrible high-pressure sales man, and another offered a super great deal on "low end" materials along with plans to repair rotten cedar siding by just painting over the rot. This is when I decided to join Angie’s list.
After reading hundreds of reviews I called Craftsman’s Choice, spoke with Amber, and was quickly scheduled to meet with
progress on the projects.
The roof was done with GAF Woodland Designer Series shingles in the color Castlewood Gray by a roofing crew of fellows who were smiling while they were sweating through the 95+ degree weather. YOU should check out the look of these shingles – they are unique and stunning on a steep pitched roof!
Through the months of projects we did run into some unforeseeable situations; which, if you have had any experience with home projects or if you watch any home improvement TV shows, you know that construction projects can be unpredictable and sometimes things happen that turn one project into another project. Working with contractors through these types of difficult situations is how you really learn about the people you are dealing with… and this is how I learned what makes the Craftsman’s
Choice really great!
What started out as a shaky relationship with one of their salesmen, and left me questioning the company has turned into something that I can say has left me eating my words. I have learned a lot through my experience with this company as a first time homeowner (most lessons self-induced by learning things the hard way).
The company is a class act and won't let you down. I am extremely happy with their customer service and their commitment to make things right. Their siding craftsmanship is gorgeous and flawless.
