Radon Testing Reviews in Minneapolis

I reviewed Angie's List write-ups and decided to call two companies and then a third company came recommended by someone else. From the start
was very easy to communicate with. I invited him out first and he gave me his easy-to-understand, "no nonsense approach" that made complete sense. On the day they arrived to do the install,
and his partner
assessed the situation and they recommended installing the PVC pipe in an area of the basement that would be less noticeable and at the same time a very effective location for removing the radon gas. After they drilled the hole in the concrete slab and inserted the PVC tube, they were able to determine (from their diagnostic testing) that the system did not require any additional PVC piping throughout the basement. Believe me, if you can accomplish radon gas reduction to the level that you want with this
and straightforward approach, why would anyone want more PVC tubing hanging in their basement anyway? Before having
install our system, our radon level was 7.8. Afterwards, their testing equipment measured the average radon level at 1.2. For anyone interested in cost (and who isn't), their cost breakdown was $1,300 for the system, $285 for the electrician to extend the electrical circuit into the attic where the radon fan is installed. We opted to have the electrician "pull the electrical permit" and that was an additional $85. The second contractor we invited over was very knowledgeable (like
), but he recommended a much more comprehensive installation and at an additional $1,000 cost to us. Turns out that would have been a waste of our money. Hint - don't let someone tell you that you need to extend the PVC piping into the sump pump basket. Not always true.
was able to reduce our radon level without this extra work (and saved us $1,000 in the process). The third contractor we invited out (who came recommended by someone) did not match up to
or the second contractor's confidence and on top of that, his warranty for parts and labor was only one year.
's warranty is five years.
have built a well-deserved reputation and if you want a quality, professional install, then
is an excellent choice. Trust me, you'll see more and more reviews like this in Angie's List for anyone who cares to share their experience too. Nice job
! PS: I have an aunt who died from
cancer and did not smoke a day in her life. No one checked the house for radon, but from what I know now, I believe that's what caused her death. Go buy yourself a short-term test kit and check the radon level in your house. If the radon level is 4.0 or above (the EPA's recommended level to install a remediation system), then call
. You'll be glad you did!

Our home was built in 1925 so any work done in our house is usually complicated. I am so glad we contacted
Mitigation to do this work.
checked out the basement and found an area in a storage room to install the pipes to get good suction and then planned on running one pipe outside and up the side of our house. Truthfully, I don't even notice the pipe. The fan(outside) is not noticeable when in the basement. I can hear it in our small room off of the living room on the main floor, but it is just enough to know that it is working. My husband said the workers were very professional and thoroughly cleaned up after themselves. I liked that
followed up with us after the work was completed and told us to run another radon test 24 hours after the mitigation was started and then every two years after that. He also provided info on the usual life of the fan. Radon levels before: 4.9 pCi/L. Radon levels after: < .3 pCi/L

and his crew arrived promptly and got the system installed by lunch time. Radon levels were reduced from 8.9 pCi/L to 0.5 pCi/L according to short-term tests. The exposed parts of the system in the basement and on the roof look very neat and orderly. Overall a very smooth experience.

It went extremely well. They lowered the radon emission in our basement from over 4 to an average of a bit over 1. The man who did the work did a wonderful job and completed everything in one day.

We called ARS because our radon level in the basement was 5.0. Their mitigation reduced it to less than 0.03. The whole process went very smoothly. Communication was clear, everyone was pleasant and easy to work with, and the work was excellent.

and his crew were set to install a complete system to reduce the radon at our house today. Of the three potential vendors we talked to, he alone pointed out that we needed to seal certain parts of our concrete floor that would prevent the system from working. So we chose his company.
Minneapolis Radon Mitigation Experts Provider Name Locked
walked us through the entire process in expert detail, and scoped out where the holes in the floor would be drilled and the pipes installed.
But before starting the work, they drilled a couple of test holes in the floor to ensure there was sufficient suction under the concrete floor. Well, because how our concrete floors were poured after the plaster walls in the basement were built, there wasn't enough suction, so while the planned system would help reduce the radon,
Minneapolis Radon Mitigation Experts Provider Name Locked
advised that it may not be enough to make it worth it. Instead, he advised that we install an air exchanger to reduce radon. An air exchanger will cost more, but will work for our house. In the city of Minneapolis we have to hire and HVAC company to install and air exchanger, so we'll look for good candidates on Angie's List, otherwise we'd want
Minneapolis Radon Mitigation Experts Provider Name Locked
to install it.
Since their test showed that their planned system would not work well enough,

and his crew then sealed up the holes they had made, even closing off the biggest potential leak in the floor (that they had not made). All at no charge.

was our inspector. I have lived through 4 home inspections and I must say this was the most thorough and effective inspection I have ever seen.
Minneapolis Radon Mitigation Experts Provider Name Locked
did an outstanding job of not only thoroughly inspecting our home, but also interacting with me on all of the details of our new home. I walked away so grateful that I used
Minneapolis Radon Mitigation Experts Provider Name Locked
for these services and feel confident we have all the information we need to make a very good decision on such a big investment.
The pricing was also almost $200 lower than a different vendor on Angie's list that was not rated as high.I am 1000% satisfied and highly recommend.

came out for an estimate the day after he was called. He took the time to examine the features of my basement and was able to determine the best placement of the system - which in my case was running the exhaust pipe up through an abandoned flue instead of the traditional install through the garage. The work was completed as scheduled, the basement was electronically monitored for the next few days which showed the radon level steadily decrease and then settle at the new safe level. He was organized, professional, and I would definitely use him again.

was contacted in mid November. He talked me into a subslab depressurization system over an ERV system. We talked about my house configuration and that the tube would be located outside the house. He asked if I was ok with a flexible schedule and I said I was as I had a plumbing project going on at the same time that would preclude the installation of subslab depressurization. I was finished with that project in early December. By January it was apparent to me that
Minneapolis Radon Mitigation Experts Provider Name Locked
was more concerned about his schedule than mine. His approach to scheduling appears to be call the day before he wants his crew to be out to complete the work and badger you with that date or he gives that slot to someone else. The crew when they showed up were professional and quick. The radon levels were reduced to adequate levels.

As it turns out I should have used the ERV system as I later found out my house does not have enough air exchanges per hour and will require an ERV or continuously running exhaust fan. In the end the system they installed works but there was probably a better solution for my house.
