Minneapolis Nurseries Reviews

C
"The nursery is huge, so there is a wide selection. However, we had a very difficult time finding anyone to help us. First, in the shrub department, the card for the particular shrub we were interested in was missing so we did not know the price or other specifics about the plant. When we did track someone down by walking to another department, she was apologetic and helpful. When we moved on to buy grass seed, the gentlemen was not very helpful. I told him I knew nothing about grass seed (and therefore wouldn't know what questions to ask) but he would only answer very specific questions. When I returned home and searched the

's website, I found that I should have bought a different type of seed mix, as well as ground cover and fertilizer (which I did ask about). I was over-charged $30 on the mulch but received a refund. One of the sales associates was apologetic but the other, older woman, interrogated me before believing me. I hope the plants turn out well.

"Having enjoyed their store and having admired the landscaping work they did for a friend, I called them about a consultation for a project landscaping our front yard. My info was taken and I was told one of the designers would call me back. After 2 weeks, I had heard nothing, and called again. no response. After another week and a half, I called a third time, was told they were "really busy," but one of the designers would call me. It has now been a month since my initial inquiry, and I still have not been contacted. I was very disappointed in their lack of any response at all and have found another company to do the work. Their store is lovely, and I've had good experiences at the store itself, but that's it."

"I took my two nieces to

to buy plants for Mother's Day. It's especially fun to bring children because there's plenty of colorful plants and decorations to keep their attention. We bought a large hanging plant and three smaller plants as gifts for Mother's Day. The folks who work there are always friendly and take the time to answer questions and show you interesting things. Also, they don't rush you out the gate at closing time."

"This was the only place I could find the kind of plant I was looking for. They are native to this area and suitable for a shady ground cover. One staff member tried to talk me out of just using native plants, but she left me alone after I said I'd already made up my mind to use native plants."

"Wonderful selection, especially of native plants, and a great variety of sustainable gardening supplies like rain barrells, permeable pavers, and other hard-to-find items. Staff was very helpful and knowleadgeable without being condescending to a gardening newbie like me."

"Anytime I have questions on flowers or plants, I always go to

. Sometimes, I'll even just call with a question, and they're always happy to answer and never tell you to buy unnecessary products. They have an extensive nursery, and the people who work there really know their stuff."

"For a big nursery, not the best actual selection, just a lot of the same stuff. But there's always somebody on staff to help with choices, and it's nicer than shopping at the big box stores!"

is a real gem. She may not be the most personable business owner, but I'd rather have the most knowledgeable anyway. She is a local expert in rock gardens and rhododendrons, and her peony and day

selections are incredible. I'm getting hooked on the alpines though and you'll think you've died and gone to heaven when you see the rare and unusual plants she has available. The gardens themselves are worth the trip, bring the family! My favorite in the twin cities."

"This nursery offers over 3000 varieties of plants, trees, and shrubs many that I haven't seen at other garden shops. Their garden art selection is also wonderful with many unique and high quality items. Their location is a bit crowded but is very fun to browse through since you are bound to discover something interesting each time you stop in. If you have a friend who loves gardening a gift certificate from them is sure to please - they are printed on beautiful square stationary stock, with the corners folded in and 'wrapped' up with a raffia bow. In the winter they offer great fresh wreaths, garland & trees. If that's not good enough they are located across the street from a great frozen

"Tree guy (forgot his name) was helpful and patient with us. He helped us make our selection and gave us helpful planting tips (we know nothing about gardening). He really knew his stuff. So far, our little crabapple is thriving."
