They were in and out, 5 guys and a separate termite inspector. The inspection was very detailed with a lot of photos and descriptions which was overly complicated and no one stayed around to explain any of the notes or findings and there were errors on the inspection based on a second inspection that was done. There was no follow up by them they only sent over the documents and then charged for a wind mitigation report and the first one the send over had an error, it said the home had asphalt shingles when in fact it it tile roofing, I had to call and get it all resubmitted to the insurance company and there was no apology or followup. When I had a 4 point inspection done by another company recommended by my insurance company it was done fast and correctly.

did a great job of installing the system. The construction of our house made radon mitigation much more difficult than planned. When
discovered the difficulties, he explained the issue, how he was going to update the original plan, and when he'd have the work done. The install was very complicated, and took much longer than expected, but he stuck by his initial estimate, and got the work done as quickly as possible. The system works great, and our radon rates tested dramatically under advised levels.
Thanks for the great work.

was the name of our inspector, and he arrived before we did to the home. Had all his tools and he removed his shoes since the ground was covered with snow. He was very thorough during the inspection. He started on the outside and worked his way in. He inspection the outside for damage, rot, and other issues. He wasn't able to inspect the roof due to snow cover. Once inside he went room by room and and checked them from top to bottom. He always let us know what he was doing and helped educate us and what we needed to know as home owners. He also gave us ideas of what potential fixes and upgrades would cost. At the end of the day he told us he would email us a complete inspection report w/ pictures and within 24hrs we received the completed report. It was well worth the price and we feel that he are now getting a great house.

Overall, our experience was average. Nothing major went wrong, but it was not what I was expecting from a company that seems to have stellar ratings on Angie's List.
We had some issues with the front office. All fairly minor but, in sum, show some issues with scheduling and communication.
1. I was told by the front office that the radon sensor would be placed over the weekend so we could get our test results on the same day as the actual inspection. For some reason this didn't happen. The inspector placed the sensor on the day of the inspection, which meant that we didn't get our test results until two days later. This putus "down to the wire" for responding to the seller as part of the purchase agreement.
2. Our coupon from Angie's List wasn't applied properly at first.
3. I was quoted a higher price on the phone for a follow-up inspection than my Realtor was. (Shouldn't there be just one price?)
4. The follow-up inspection was scheduled for the wrong date. To her credit,
Minneapolis Home Inspectors Provider Name Locked
fixed this quickly.
5. There was a glitch with the payment for the follow-up inspection.
As far as the actual inspection was concerned, things were just fine. The inspector arrived 40 minutes early and had already inspected several areas of the house when we arrived. I asked him to go back through the areas he had already inspected with me so I could ask questions. The report was completed quickly and emailed to us.
One thing to keep in mind is that not all of the inspectors on Structure
Minneapolis Home Inspectors Provider Name Locked
's roster are ASHI Certified (I'm sure this is true of other
inspection companies as well). Some are associate members, which is a stepping stone to getting certified. To get certified, an inspector has to take a battery of tests and perform at least 250 inspections, some of which are audited.
Bottom line, my experience was very average.

did the inspection, and he went way beyond my expectations. He was meticulous, careful, and very slow. I asked dozens of ridiculous questions and he answered them all. He acted like he had all day, and as though it was his own home. It was well worth the $500. I payed $125 extra for the IR Scan, and it was worth it. He even had us turn every switch on when we walked in so that at the end of the inspection he could use his IR Scanner to look at the temperature of the wires in the electric box. I STRONGLY recommend

It went well. I've been using MRI as my inspector of choice for a long time and they are.consistently reliable. Always punctual, professional, knowledgeable, courteous. As a realtor representing people in perhaps the biggest transaction of their lives, it is vitally important to me that my clients be protected and well served. I'm pleased to recommend MRI, without hesitation.

failed to detect leaks in the plumbing in 4 places (water meter patched with duct tape, outdoor shut-off valve that was beyond corroded, and 2 nonfunctioning patches in the mechanicals room). Also, the insulation contractor pointed out that the downstairs bathroom was venting directly into the attic, and was not connected to the flu that had evidently been installed directly above it for that purpose. The inspector had spent quite a bit of time in the attic and missed this. Nice guy, just felt it was less than Inspection Lite.
I contacted
Minneapolis Home Inspectors Provider Name Locked
about these issues and sent photos. They explained that their job is to "note problems not repairs that are adequately performing," and I contend that duct tape and rubber hose do not fall into the repair category, but are more along the lines of lipstick on a pig.

offered to reimburse my inspection fee of $285, but it took them a month and another email from me to actually send it. I ended up having to replumb the entire house and replace the downstairs ceiling at a cost of more than $5000.

did an excellent job on the home inspections -- we
ended up not buying the first one, in large part due to some problems found
in the inspection. We felt very good about having
Minneapolis Home Inspectors Provider Name Locked
do the
inspection on the second home, which we ended up buying. Both times he
took us through the home and thoroughly explained all the features and
recommended repairs, and also answered all of our questions. He has been
very helpful in answering questions via email as they have come up since
then. He is very professional and knowledgeable, we highly recommend
him.
