Home Building reviews in Minneapolis

they started at the end of March.. tearing everything down was a major task. but, they worked a hard 8 hrs a day and cleaned everything up each night. they kept me informed on the progress constantly. Then came the framing. It is absolutely perfect. Every thing is plum. Then the sheet rock folks came through with another incredibly perfect job. They were very detailed and the finished product shows the workmanship. The painter was/is awesome. I hired him to paint the rest of my house. The electrical and plumbing were done well and efficiently. They were in my house while i was on a trip. They were respectful and honest. They said that it would take a little over 3 months and that is exactly the time frame. They were easy to work with. I had a couple of days that I could not have any workmen around and they were flexible with that. I am so pleased with everything.

is very reliable, very creative, and does exceptional work. He always does a great job, often doing little "extras" to ensure the job is top-notch and that you'll be very happy with the finished product.

could've just done basic closets (framed out with finished walls) and they would've been very nice, but he went the extra mile and put in extra shelving, shoe dividers, and finish trim work to maximize the use of the space and make it look really great. He also worked to match the stain on the new closet doors to the existing trim. I have been extremely happy with my closets!
Minneapolis Home Builders Provider Name Locked
is very honest and trust-worthy, and is always willing to work with you to get the job done within your budget. I've worked with
Minneapolis Home Builders Provider Name Locked
on many house projects over the years (he basically remodeled my entire previous house) and I have never been disappointed. He's a rare find in a contractor!

The installation of the toilet and repair of leak went well.
Minneapolis Home Builders Provider Name Locked
purchased the toilet and removed the old one and installed the new toilet. Once that was done he cleaned up the area very well and hauled the old toilet away. Also, in order to repair the leak he cemented the area in the window well which was done very neatly and efficiently. That made a big difference.
He also returned the following day to check out the site to see if everything is working well and it was and we very relieved that we not only had a second toilet in the house but that the leak was repaired.

did an excellent job with the electrical work and the dishwasher. He's fast and efficient. The door, unfortunately, still needs work, and the caulking should really be redone.
Minneapolis Home Builders Provider Name Locked
was responsive prior to the work. But since then he has not replied to my messages asking him to come back into the house to tweak the door and caulk within a reasonable amount of time. This surprises me, as it's clear as you watch him work that he takes great pride in it. We also had some other work we would likely have offered him. But seemingly not standing behind your work and getting back to customers is something of a red flag. I knocked him on quality, as two of the jobs really do need tweaking. And I knocked him on responsiveness, and professionalism as well, as being responsive is a part of one's professionalism. I understand that he may be slammed with work or ill or some such. I hope I do hear back from him. Perhaps my experience working with him can be improved and something worked out.

Top notch quality work. A few unfinished details. Discussed future jobs, but impossible to reach since even though last contact said he'd love to work with us. I am so disappointed.

I use the term "manage" very
Minneapolis Home Builders Provider Name Locked
does the worst job of not-managing this property that anyone could ever
imagine. I visited their executive offices, on Park Avenue above the Spaghetti
Factory in Minneapolis, to see a plethora of awards for excellence. I am
baffled that
Minneapolis Home Builders Provider Name Locked
could ever be considered for any type of award, especially
in view of how they conduct business at Midtown Exchange Loft Apartments. I
moved into my apartment, near the end of August, and was out of town quite a
bit. However, in September I discovered that the water didn't get hot enough to
wash dishes by hand, in the dishwasher, take a hot shower, or even adequately
wash my hands. The water was barely warm, with cold water mixed in.
When I complained to the onsite manager, she instructed me to run the water in
three locations; the kitchen sink , the tub, and face bowl for 15 minutes and
it would get warm. That didn't work! She then offered to send someone to change
my filter and that may help. Since I had never heard of a filter having an
affect on hot water, I passed on that idea. After writing a letter to the
Minneapolis Home Builders Provider Name Locked
, and leaving several messages for him, without
response, I finally spoke with
Minneapolis Home Builders Provider Name Locked
at the executive offices.Initially he said
he was unaware of a problem with hot water in the building. After I threatened
to organize the tenants, they installed a $1500.00 part that would correct the
problem. In the mean time I learned from other tenants that the lack of
hot water has and is an ongoing problem, in addition to the deterioration in
the care and maintenance of the apartment complex. The $1500 part proved
to be a short term fix. A few weeks ago we were notified that there would
be extensive work done to attempt to correct the problem of no hot water.
Today, December 26th, when I spoke to
Minneapolis Home Builders Provider Name Locked
about another one of many issues, he
informed me that they are still working to address the problem. For the past
few weeks we have had hot water, but I hold my breath
each time I turn a faucet on, wondering how long that luxury will last, and
I'll have to return to boiling water to take a bath and wash dishes, and resort
to using hand sanitizer at home to clean my hands. There are, however,
many, many other issues that remain ignored by all levels of the

Management team. I will be meeting with the Minneapolis Housing Inspector on
December 30 to discuss problems that have long been ignored by
Minneapolis Home Builders Provider Name Locked
. It is
my understanding the US Bank and
Minneapolis Home Builders Provider Name Locked
Hospital, among other corporate
entities, provided generous financial support for the development
of the Midtown Exchange and that
Minneapolis Home Builders Provider Name Locked
Associates receives special financing
and ongoing tax benefits on the grounds that the development would include
apartments for those of moderate income, which is where I reside, Midtown
Exchange Apartments. The entire
Minneapolis Home Builders Provider Name Locked
development (Midtown Exchange)
which includes, the high-end Chicago
Loft condominiums Allina Commons, and the Global
Minneapolis Home Builders Provider Name Locked
, was touted to be an
effort to revitalize this area of Minneapolis. The shame of it is that
every area of the Midtown development is well maintained except the apartments.
The main level, Allina Commons, and the lower level, and the
Minneapolis Home Builders Provider Name Locked
, show no indication that the apartments that were the
bargaining chip which made the entire development possible, is turning into a
slum at the hands of the award winning, developer, and property management

Left a huge mess of construction debris first promised to get rid of it then changed tune to " job is finished and debris removal was not part of bid"
we hired
Minneapolis Home Builders Provider Name Locked
to do excavation ,footings, block work and slab for a 14x28 addition. He seemed to be very trustworthy . Contract was signed 10/16/13 and we gave him a check for $2000 for deposit, Th full contract was for $4500. He wrote out a very
Minneapolis Home Builders Provider Name Locked
contract ( too

) where he promised to have the job done in 4-5 days rain pending, it took him a month to complete the job many days were fine weather and he could have worked but
Minneapolis Home Builders Provider Name Locked
did not show up or call. The hole was dug fast and he seemed promising at first. Then we apparently upset him by my contractor calling him to find out when he will be done and why it was taking so long. ( not under my instruction) after that it was down hill , he had an attitude and was very rammy he completed the work, but with the bulldozer ran into the corner of the block ruining that,an into a tree in my yard ,that he ripped out and tossed to the side and covered up 2 of my gardens (that were clearly fenced around to be avoided, i even told him to avoid tree and gardens) originally he bid was for $4500 tops, he ran into a bit more work than expected with our back step having to be taken out it took 1 man 5 hours to get rid of it He added $800 for this . we asked to have the space sealed and he charged and additional $800 for this we asked to have a window cut so have entry to the crawl space . He charged $500 . At many different times i asked to make sure grading the yard was included he said "yes the yard will be graded " at those times later at pay off time all of a sudden they were not, and he charged another $500 for grading. in total he was paid $7100 not $4500 . at all times the debris removal was part of the job. when i later called him to ask him if the yard had been graded and when he would take away the debris he started saying the job is finished. The debris was placed on in the
Minneapolis Home Builders Provider Name Locked
on my neighbors pad taking up their parking space they had agreed to let us use this for a short period of time , but not to leave it there. My carpenters started working on building on nov11th and needed the nuts for securing the bottom plate to the flooring, I sent him a text asking about them to which he sent me a text back saying" the guys accidentally threw them on the truck and he would drop the off tomorrow, and pick up the dirt as well" he never came to get the dirt/concrete debris.I tried calling texting , calling from other #'s but no response. it has been 2 weeks i finally reached him yesterday to talk to him about coming to get it again he said " jobs finished" when i said no he promised to come back and get the dirt he started making personal attacks about myself, family , life , husband and children. very inappropriate since I was only talking to him about his work and business . i ended the conversation but did resend him the text i received from him of november 11th saying he was coming to get the dirt but no response. I also asked if the grading had been done already to which his response was " jobs finished" i asked what the yard would look like had I not paid you to grade my yard? he said " like s***" I said well thats exactly what I have here, my yard looked better before he started.
Also when they cut the hole into the cement wall for the crawl space
Minneapolis Home Builders Provider Name Locked
kept assuring me that the mess of dust would be minimal, I taped an area off for the work to be done. My husband who also works construction said the workers should have made their own work space and been responsible for cleaning up after themselves. They made no effort to secure the space any further and began cutting, without turning off the furnace . The dust went everywhere 2 weeks later Im still dealing with this. The dust was sucked into the brand new vent work and is covering the inside of all my vents throughout the house.

was right on time for the estimate and installation. They did a great job and left no mess. I would highly recommend them. My husband was worried until I showed him from the inside that the windows are very sturdy. We have an old home so not everything is exactly the same size.

I have entered all the information in the last box. I should probably have kept hounding the business but I hated all the hassle they gave me about the whole thing. It was stressful to talk with them, especially the man who was so unpleasant on the phone.
