Minneapolis Fitness Centers Reviews

D
"In the summer of 2011, I signed up for a gym membership in addition to 12 months of personal training sessions (3 sessions/mo). Before I committed to 12 months of personal training sessions, I asked the manager what would happen if I were to move during the next 12 months. He told me it was not a problem because there are LA Fitness facilities all over the country and I would have no trouble finding another one at which I can attend my personal training sessions. Satisfied, I signed the contract.

Three months into my membership, I moved to another city for a new job. When I went to the LA Fitness facility closest to my new city of residence, I was told if I wanted to use this facility, I had to pay a $90 "upgrade fee." This was not disclosed to me at the time I signed up for everything. So, I called LA Fitness in Edina and asked to speak with the manager who originally signed me up. He was unavailable, so I left him a detailed message and asked him to call me back.

Five weeks went by and I never received a call back. I finally called the facility back again and asked to speak to that manager, again. This time he was available. I explained the situation to him and he told me that there was nothing he could do about the upgrade fee. If I wanted to switch gyms, I would have to pay the fee. He said the personal training sessions are good at any LA Fitness facility, but when you are signed up with a single club, the gym membership is not good at any other facility and you have to upgrade to a multi-facility membership in order to use any other facility outside of your "home gym." While all of this is true, I was not told that it would cost an additional $90 to switch my "home gym" facility when I signed up.

Again, the manager told me he understood my frustration, but there was nothing he could do about it. He then offered to have the general manager (GM) of the Edina facility call me back to see if there was anything he could help with, since he knows more about the membership side of things. I agreed and asked if the GM would be calling me yet today. He said, yes, probably within the hour. Three hours passed and no call back. Before the end of the day, I called the Edina facility again, and asked to speak to the GM. He was not available, so they took a message from me. No call back. Two more days pass, still no call back, so I called again today, was told the GM was not available, so I left another message to have him call me back. Still have not received a return call.

Based on the poor customer service I have received, I will not likely go to any LA Fitness facilities in the future, and I will warn others as well. In the meantime, I am not going to drive 27 miles out of my way to work out at my current "home gym" in Edina. I will be stuck paying the $90 upgrade fee--that I was not told about upfront--if I don't want to waste 9 months worth of personal training sessions. Lesson learned.

"I've been a client of
Minneapolis Fitness Centers Provider Name Locked
(owned by
Minneapolis Fitness Centers Provider Name Locked
Van
Minneapolis Fitness Centers Provider Name Locked
, who teaches most of the classes) for several years. It is a smaller, intimate fitness studio in Uptown. I've been a member of big gyms before but I found I didn't really need a lot of the extra amenities those big gyms provide and felt like I was paying a lot for what I got. On PRICE, I have to say, the best thing is that if you decide to start going there regularly, you can sign up for a monthly autorenew membership plan which offers a nice discount over the normal package pricing. The normal pricing was in line or lower than other smaller studios I've been to but still it's nice you can get a cheaper rate if you decide to become a loyal customer.

Minneapolis Fitness Centers Provider Name Locked
is a high energy person and varies the classes enough to keep it interesting and keep me motivated. As long as I can get myself to the gym to class, I always have a good time and feel better for going. I have also participated in several 2-week bootcamps during the summer, which are held at different scheduled locations in Minneapolis (including some neat
Minneapolis Fitness Centers Provider Name Locked
/places I'd never been to.)

There are people of all different fitness levels in these classes. When I first started I was way out of shape but
Minneapolis Fitness Centers Provider Name Locked
integrates you such that you can fit in and get a nice workout without feeling out of place or overmatched at the beginning. There are some people who are in really top shape and
Minneapolis Fitness Centers Provider Name Locked
is able to give them the level of intensity they need, too.

The best thing really though is
Minneapolis Fitness Centers Provider Name Locked
herself. She has a really great personality and she clearly cares a lot about all of us who come in. I've seen some people come in pretty much obese, who have slowly and steadily over time lost weight and gotten fit and healthy. One woman lost like 85 pounds. I mean, a change like that takes a lot of time but that person was dedicated and
Minneapolis Fitness Centers Provider Name Locked
helped her learn to eat better and she seems to have made a permanent lifestyle change for the better.

That's the kind of thing that I found was missing in larger gym places.
Minneapolis Fitness Centers Provider Name Locked
is very personal to you and what you need and once you get into it you just kind of want to keep going. I recommend the place to everyone!

"The facility is clean and well-organized. They have got a lot of equipment. There was a little bit of miscommunication. I was supposed to get one price, but they accidentally charged me differently, and I am still trying to talk to them. The person I need to speak to is there only at around 4 p.m. and I need to get a hold of him. So far, their customer service has been good. I still need to see how things go. They are very friendly and professional. Their price is very competitive when compared to other gyms in the area. I would use them again in the future."

"I ended up spending about a year at Snap, much longer than I anticipated, because it was inexpensive and served my very basic needs for offering a stationary bicycle, weights, and stretching space. This is no luxury gym -- there are no locker rooms or spaces to wash up, only a toilet and sink. I was able to use the facility during its off hours (middle of the day), but things did get busy during after-work hours. They often have fun competitions that you can use to challenge yourself to get fitter. I would say this gym best serves those who are quite self-motivated already and just need the space to get in, do their workout, and get out. I would also say it works best for those who live close to the facility and can easily go home to shower after a workout. Would absolutely rejoin if circumstances changed and I could no longer run outside for any reason."

"This service is fantastic! The trainers are extremely polite, friendly, efficient and very knowledgeable. They keep you motivated, provide tailor made training programs that keep you challenged and help you to achieve the goals you've set. Working out one-on-one in a private studio means no waiting for equipment so it saves a lot of time and is discrete. Although this service is pricey, I highly recommend it as it has really helped me achieve things physically that I never thought I could and clearly wasn't with my previous workout routine."

"Middle age and being out of shape snuck up on me, so I knew it was time to do or die.
Minneapolis Fitness Centers Provider Name Locked
ended up being the best investment of energy, time and money I've made in a long time. Imo they fill a unique niche in the fitness world for the average person. Small, personal and professional. Ft staff created a progressive realistic program that actually worked, and they stuck with me every step of the way. Results? My energy and strength are up, my weights slowly going down and best of all, I'm continuing to work out on my own since finishing at ft earlier this year. May go back for a refresher or join a club but whatever I do, I'm finally moving again."

"I have since joined up. I have paid 1,600.00 for 20 sessions, plus I got 6 free sessions. The higher the package, the less each session costs. It has worked out to be the same if not less then an individual session with a personal trainer at a "big box" health club. There are no more than 2 people working out at a time in the space. Each space is a private "bay." It is highly personalized, I told them my goals, and each staff person I've encountered knows about my goal and are helping me to achieve it. They assess your current needs and cater a program for you. They even go over a nutrition plan and create a 2 week menu plan. I work with the same trainer every time and he couldn't be more professional and knowledgeable than any I have encountered in the past. This is NOT YOUR AVERAGE workout! This is hard work and never the same. I can feel the benefits already! If you want to dramatically change your life/health once and for all - the investment is worth it, and you won't be disappointed!"

"It's just not worth it to pay extra money for this club. Of the downtown health clubs, I would prefer other clubs. The gym is cramped and stuffy, just like you would expect at a hotel fitness center, which the
Minneapolis Fitness Centers Provider Name Locked
really is. The staff at the club is frequently rude and generally not helpful."

"We have had a great experience there. We love the Y and we know we are paying to be a contributor to subsidize families who cannot afford a membership on their own. Great environment to work out in, people of all sizes and capabilities."

"I enjoy the
Minneapolis Fitness Centers Provider Name Locked
. They are open long hours (I wish until 11 on weekends as well as during the week) and are always bustling with neighborhood people. The walking track is useful during the winter. I have also used the treadmills and stationary bikes, for which there is a great demand. The wide variety of body types and fitness levels makes the experience less stressful for this on-again, off-again exerciser."
