Family Doctor reviews in Minneapolis

When I was scheduling the appointment, I asked the staff for an estimate of how much an initial consultation costs with no additional tests. They said it varies based on insurance. I was very clear that I have a high deductible policy, and I was going to be paying the whole thing out of pocket. The office refused to provide an estimate of any kind. Due to difficulty in finding any other appointments with internists on short notice, I went ahead and scheduled the appointment.

I arrived at the doctor's office on time and was taken fairly quickly. It was my first time visiting Dr.

, so he asked a series of background questions etc. The doctor was very thorough asking a long series of background questions that covered a whole host of problems I had in the past, some of which had been resolved, some which were ongoing. At some point the doctor got a phone call, and he was on the phone for about 5-7 minutes.

Overall I would say the doctor was very patient and thorough in regards to the questioning and investigation. With regards to my cough, the doctor did a very thorough set of physical inspections (listening to the chest, checking nose & throat, checking for hernia, etc.). No lab tests were done. In the end, the doctor suspected that my cough was somehow related to my acid reflux. He suggested that I could see a pulmonary specialist if desired, but I declined at the time. The doctor suggested I send some prior lab test results I had to his office for further diagnosis and perhaps a follow up visit related to my high cholesterol.

I was hesitant to send any further information as I wanted to see what the cost of the visit was going to be first. When I finally got a bill in the mail a few weeks later, the amount was $320. Insurance negotiates that to a lower rate, but still the cost of the visit to me personally was $276. That is the highest bill for a doctor's visit I have ever seen when no lab tests or x-rays were involved.

With further investigation, I was able to learn that the visit was billed as a 99205 consultation code - one hour initial consultation with high complexity and thorough examination of past history. Compared to the Medicare billable limits for 99205 consult code in Minnesota, the $320 bill was more than 50% higher than the maximum limiting charges ($207.27).

While I'm not sure the visit even lasted a full 60 minutes, the doctor's effective rate was at least $5.33 per minute assuming a 60 minute visit. That means the 5-7 minute phone call the doctor took cost me at least $26-38. At those prices, I would expect the doctor to take no phone calls during my visit, or at least provide a rate adjustment for that. I have learned my lesson about watching the time when I go to see a doctor, that's for sure.

I called the billing department, was referred back to the doctor's office, and then a few days later received a call indicating the doctor would adjust the charges slightly lower. I did receive a letter from Dr.

, which summarized my visit and indicated the charges would be reduced lower. The visit summary was mostly accurate, but had one glaring error - it showed that I had some spine surgery when I never had any such surgery or procedure. Now weeks have gone by and I haven't received any bill adjustment, but I did get another reminder from billing to pay the full amount owed.

Basically when it comes to this doctor, I would say go if you have an insurance company that will pay everything. If you're like me with a high deductible plan and have to pay for the visit out of your own pocket, the prices are very very high and you won't be able to get any up front estimate of what the visit will cost you. The doctor's competence, skill, and patience are quite fine, but not so exceptional that I feel I couldn't get a comparable service elsewhere for much less. The billing practices are nauseating and not patient friendly at all.

Pacala and she was the most attentive doctor I've ever been to. She listened carefully to any concerns I had and gave them full consideration and follow up. Plus, she has a good sense of humor!

The doctor I saw was very thorough and I never felt rushed. She and the NP student working with her spent a lot of time with me and answered all my questions.

It went very well. Dr.

is thorough, respectful and always makes me laugh, which is of great help to me - I am basically afraid of doctors and try to avoid them whenever possible. I feel completely comfortable and trusting of his skill and am sure he will not over treat nor ignore my concerns. He is very accessible and always gets right back to me when I call or if I have had tests for issues of concern. I feel he knows and cares about me and that I have received the best care possible from him over the years...he is a doctor's doctor and I believe he also knows who are the best specialty referrals to meet my needs.

’t have a regular primary care physician, so I just use whoever is available at the practice. I think the knowledge that they have is good, and they provide good care. I

’t like the accessibility; it is hard to find parking and hard to get in. The emergency room is fine, but their accessibility for urgent care could be better. I would continue to use them in the future.

. I never feel rushed with Dr.
Minneapolis Family Practice Doctors Provider Name Locked
. I never feel that she has slated 10 minutes to see me. She always explains everything there on a central computer which she can pull up or the co-coordinated test, if I have to go to a different physician such as a mammogram or conoscopy. It is always there because she can discuss it with me. She never leaves without asking whether I have any more questions for her. I just really appreciate the length of time that she is willing to give me. Her staff is very friendly. I have been very impressed with them. I am used to private physician groups as opposed to a clinic and I have lot more respect for this clinic than some of the physician groups I have been to. I never had to wait. Even If I am early they come in and get me, then there is a nurse that kind of goes over what medications, or vitamin pills you are on and I never really had to wait. They

He is very practical he is an excellent diagnostician, he is great at getting things right the first time. Always is wonderful with keeping the appointment times. We are so happy to have found him and have been seeing him for the past 25 years.

This specialist that Dr. Borken sent me to basically said whatever happened in May was effects from a stroke that had taken place a long time ago. So my symptoms began to increase and I started feeling very fatigued. I was hospitalized again in November and it turns out all along I did have a brain tumor, which I am now undergoing treatment for.

I had been going to
Minneapolis Family Practice Doctors Provider Name Locked
since I was a child. However, in the last 5-10 years, service has deteriorated significantly. It is always a long wait to get an appointment with my regular doctor. If I had a problem and wanted to talk with a nurse, I'd call the main line, wait on hold for 5-10 minutes, explain my situation to the scheduler, then be transfered to the nurses line where I'd have to repeat everything over again. It feels like the nurses and doctors are being protected from their own patients. Furthermore, i tried two different doctors in the last year and neither would really listen to my concerns. I would be cut off mid-sentence and prescribed some pill to address a single issue, rather than them waiting to hear the entire story. I was also never asked about my diet - an important factor in health - and diet, exercise, or vitamin changes were never offered as a natural way to address my problems.
