The real issue came when I contacted A to C to come do the 2nd service. This may have just been my misunderstanding, but I honestly thought when I purchased, pre-paid, a "Full Seasonal Gutter Cleaning" I was getting TWO cleanings (a year's worth). Again, this may have just been my misunderstanding, but I sincerely thought the deal was "pre-pay now and get two cleanings for $160." [I used to pay $70 for one from the previous service.] Of course, I can't see the ads they were running last January anymore, so there's no way to verify this. Anyway, the person who called me back when I contacted them about coming for the 2nd cleaning said she not aware of such an offer, and she would have to contact the owner. I have yet to hear back from them, but I'll be interested to see what happens!
For future projects I need to hire out to a contractor, I will definitely consider
After a short while, I went out to see how he was doing and he informed me he was able to raise the gutter so the water would flow toward the existing down spout but he would have to add another down spout on the opposite rear corner of the house. I informed him that would not be acceptable, because the water from that down spout would flow into my neighbors basement. I than would have to run a PVC pipe to direct the flow to the Front of the house. I asked him if he thought it would work if he pitched the gutter on the side of the house toward the front of the house and the water would flow onto my front lawn and not toward the neighbor's house and he agreed. I also told him I needed a longer extension on the down spout since it ended on top of a flower bed. He said they only allowed him 12' of gutter Down Spout and that's all he had. I than figured I would go to Ace Hardware and provide him with an extension to reach to the
He than wanted full payment for the job, which I refused to give him. He then called his office and I informed them since I was not sure his installation was complete and served my purpose I was refusing to pay them, until I was satisfied with their installation.
When I tried to explain to him WHY I was not paying the full amount at that time, he would not listen and kept interupting until I finally had to hang up on him, he was so insistent on receiving the full amount, he threatened me by telling me he would file a lean
against my property.
I had heard all I wanted to hear from him, since he refused to listen to my explanation, I hung up on him.
I than received a call from their OHIO office and after trying to explain my situation to him another representative with a LEAF FILTER sign on his vehicle, the individual I was talking to told me to talk with him.
He and I walked around the house and I showed him why I was not paying and at that time he informed me I had to, because I "SIGNED A CONTRACT", and I told him, "I NEVER SIGNED NOR EVEN SAW A CONTRACT" .
I than agreed to pay him for the
MATERIALS but not the installation, since I did not believe it was completed.
He called someone from LEAF FILTER and put on SPEAKER PHONE, and I told him the same thing. I agreed to pay him 1/2 of their estimate, until they had satisfied me. When I asked him for a card, he informed me he was the SALES MGR. and upon review
of his card, I discovered he was the individual which was totally disrespectful on the phone. Had I known that prior to making an
agreement, I probably would not have agreed to paying any portion of the bill.
He advised, someone would be out the following Wednesday to take care of my concerns. It was raining Wednesday when he called and asked if he could come the following day? I approved.
On Thursday, he called and informed me he would be at my home in a half-hour to let me know an installer would possibly be here
before he got here and I should let him know when he would be here. Which I did. The installer waited in his truck and when I
looked out my front window, he had left. When the individual which called, arrived I noticed the other individual had parked along
the side of the house.
We all went around the house and I explained again what my issues were with the installation. He left and the installer began his work. Upon completion of his work, I checked what I was able to see and confirm and wrote the balance of the check.
I TRULY would not recommend LEAF FILTER to handle the installation of there product, since the Management is not the people
to be able to explain your issues about their installation.
I will admit, they finally sent someone (other than a BOSS or MANAGER) that knew how to install there product.
