Miami Drywall Contractors Reviews

"They were fast, efficient, professional, and overly-communicative, a trait you always want with any handyman; it helps to avoid mistakes. We entrusted him with our house key to perform services when my father and I were both at work throughout the week. Although it's not a necessity, it definitely made it more convenient for both of us.

We hired Mr.
Miami Drywall Contractors Provider Name Locked
after reading reviews on Angie's list. He ranked high. The initial job was to repair drywall damage on an interiior wall caused by a roof leak. The work needed to be done on two sides of a wall and then painted. When he came to give a quote, he was so convincing and confident that we hired him also to paint a large part of the interior of our house too.
We waited until he had availability to begin so he had complete control over bringing in his best workers to complete the job. It was on his schedule.
Well, while his workers were courteous, there work was not conducive for the work in a private residence. It was all about rushing, rushing, rushing to get the job done in the time allotment he had allowed them for the job. Prep work was sloppy, nail holes poorly repaired before painting, paint just slopped on, double coats not completed in several areas, no plastic sheets used over our new furniture in spite of our numerous requests, no paint tape used even though we were asked to buy it for them (they had a woman wiping up drips behind them with a dirty rag that left a film of diluted paint on whatever surface she wiped). I had to point out numerous areas that they missed or had to give a second coat to. Had I not, they considered it complete.
The paint job was shoddy at best and, in fact, only three months later is already chipping in certain parts of the house. The drywall repair had to be halted when it was discovered that we still had a leak in our roof . We thank them for their honesty in pointing out that we still had a roof leak. However, I could tell that they did NOT have the drywall expertise that Mr.
Miami Drywall Contractors Provider Name Locked
promised they had. The drywall work was inferior and still showed the seams of where the repairs where done. I had indicated that my goal was a seamless wall. They would not deliver on that request.

We halted the job to allow time for the roof to be repaired and we never asked them to come back to finish the job. We just completed it ourselves. Nor did Mr.
Miami Drywall Contractors Provider Name Locked
call to schedule a time to finish up. We paid him for work performed and he agreed to that.

The work performed was more appropriate for an office or commercial environment where the inhabitants may not care as much about detail.
This job was a waste of our money and I plan to hire someone else to redo what Mr.
Miami Drywall Contractors Provider Name Locked
was unsuccessful in accomplishing to our high standards.

"It went great. Bill Shollmeyer is very nice, and it's very important for him that we be pleased. He is not outstanding only because of his conscientiousness, but because he can couple that with a skill for solving problems. He was able to solve the problem of our poorly designed backyard gate by coming up with an idea that never would have occurred to us. But of course, that's why we hire professionals!
At first I was a bit stunned by the quote for our honey-do list, but when I thought about the fact that we had a very long list, and how it compared to similar quotes, I think it was reasonable.
Without a doubt, If ever I need to get a project done around the house, I'll be sure to call Bill.

"We found
Miami Drywall Contractors Provider Name Locked
, and about 5 other companies on Angie's List, and after contacting all 6 companies and getting quotes from all of them we made the decision to go with
Miami Drywall Contractors Provider Name Locked
.
Pricing:
Miami Drywall Contractors Provider Name Locked
was not the cheapest, but also not the most expensive quote we got. It was well wroth the price though.
Professionalism:
Miami Drywall Contractors Provider Name Locked
and
Miami Drywall Contractors Provider Name Locked
, the owners, were both extremely helpful, punctual, and would answer our questions (calls and text messages) no matter when we got a hold of them. Since I work from 8AM to 6-7PM,
Miami Drywall Contractors Provider Name Locked
and
Miami Drywall Contractors Provider Name Locked
would make sure that they were always available on weekends to meet with me and discuss our project.
After going through extremely bad experiences with 5 contractors on previous projects at our home,
Miami Drywall Contractors Provider Name Locked
and
Miami Drywall Contractors Provider Name Locked
provided us with the best care one could ask for. Now, there are always things that are unaccounted for especially in older houses and also when dealing with pulling permits with the City of Miami. Those are things that one cannot hold their contractor accounted for, and one can just hope that they do the very best to make sure that the owner is aware in every stage of the project.
Miami Drywall Contractors Provider Name Locked
and
Miami Drywall Contractors Provider Name Locked
did that. They would notify us of every step that was going on (we had asked for this) and would let us know what was approved and what was not approved and the reasoning why. Sometimes when remodeling a house that is more than 60 years old you will have some surprises when you start the project. the problem to me is not the surprises but how your contractor will deal with those problems.
Miami Drywall Contractors Provider Name Locked
and Jessice exceeded my expectations in that area. I have a friend who remodeled his house and the contractor didnt notify them that their pipes for the sewer and water was too old and needed to be replaced. The renovation was done and within a year, they needed to be redone and replaced. With
Miami Drywall Contractors Provider Name Locked
and
Miami Drywall Contractors Provider Name Locked
when we reached a similar problem (I added a new bathroom and also made the master bathroom a lot bigger) they notified me that the pipes I had would not be able to withstand the additional bathroom and bigger master bathroom. Now, I would prefer to be told and given the option about this problem, than have a similar situation that happened to my friend. When we came across problems with
Miami Drywall Contractors Provider Name Locked
and
Miami Drywall Contractors Provider Name Locked
they would tell us what they believed was the correct way to be done, and the other options we had in fixing the problem. we would then come up with a solution and they would always make sure that we felt comfortable with the decision and pricing as well.
I have never had such a high level of professionalism when dealing with contractors and all of their workers were extremely polite, well mannered, and respectful.
I will always use
Miami Drywall Contractors Provider Name Locked
for future projects in my house (Already have 3 more projects planned with them for next year: Roof, Driveway, Outdoor Kitchen) and will always be the person whom i recommend to when asked if there is a contractor i recommend in Miami.
If you need to have anything done in your house, this is the company to have the job done with.

were very professional from day one. We had recently purchased a new home that needed to be completely renovated. We we looking for a contractor that could do it all and manage the project management.
Miami Drywall Contractors Provider Name Locked
was exactly what we were looking for. They came out to meet us and provided an estimate within two days. We decided to move forward and they assisted us from the design phase, to the construction, all the way through to the very last detail including furniture and window treatments. The experience was great and they followed through on all their promises.
Miami Drywall Contractors Provider Name Locked
and
Miami Drywall Contractors Provider Name Locked
worked with me through out the entire project to make sure we were on schedule and budget. When completing a large project it's important to have communication on a daily basis and it made me very comfortable and I could always reach them. Overall I can say that I am very pleased with both the quality and customer service the company has provided me. I will be using
Miami Drywall Contractors Provider Name Locked
for future projects and will recommend them to all my family and friends.

"Basically I can highly recommend
Miami Drywall Contractors Provider Name Locked
. Service was so professional and normal it was shocking with all the issues I have experienced over the years in Miami. Calls returned, details followed up on, job completed on time. Price and materials all accurate. This is the way it is supposed to be when you deal with a professional. He and his crew even came early and worked around my schedule. I just cannot say enough good things about the level of professionalism. Also, clean and tidy. Just an all around good experience.

"All jobs performed have been done in a professional and timely manner by qualified personnel. In addition, the owner of the company,
Miami Drywall Contractors Provider Name Locked
, has been present each time to oversee that the work is done as expected, and to answer any questions we could have. He has also replied to all my calls, and has even helped on matters not related to jobs performed. We purchased our home in October of 2012, and had one contractor nightmare after the other.
Miami Drywall Contractors Provider Name Locked
) has really been a life saver for us. They have constantly provided quality service at a reasonable price, always performed by professionals who are respectful, clean, organized, and knowledgeable about the job at hand. They are always on time and ready to work, and always clean up any mess created during the job. I HIGHLY recommend this company, from big renovations to small wall painting jobs, I am very happy with the services provided, and will continue to use them as needed.

"What started off as a positive experience, turned out to be a nightmare. When I first met
Miami Drywall Contractors Provider Name Locked
, I was impressed. He came on time, seemed easy going and knowledgeable, and delivered an estimate quickly. The original proposal received on 4/25 was for $22,850. I thought this was a fair price, so I asked
Miami Drywall Contractors Provider Name Locked
to add on a 2nd bathroom remodel and an installation of a new front entrance door.
Miami Drywall Contractors Provider Name Locked
sent the updated proposal on 4/30 for $40,560. I was surprised by the increase, and by taking out a few items I could do on my own like painting, we eventually settled on $38,000 (which included architectural plans). However, before signing the agreement we set another meeting with
Miami Drywall Contractors Provider Name Locked
's wife,
Miami Drywall Contractors Provider Name Locked
. I don't know what happened, but following the meeting I got another updated proposal from
Miami Drywall Contractors Provider Name Locked
for $51,740. I tried coming up with something that fit our budget with
Miami Drywall Contractors Provider Name Locked
for several days, but in the end I asked her to honor
Miami Drywall Contractors Provider Name Locked
's proposal of $38,000, which she eventually agreed to (and we signed a contract on 5/15). It was evident she was displeased with the agreement after a few days into the project, when she started adding extra charges. For example, our contract specified relocating a stack pipe in the bathroom, but she later said it would cost additional $850 for roof work (even though the exit to roof could stay the same). Our contract included adding electrical for cooktop, but she later requested an additional $230 to run the electrical over ceiling. Of course, we had no choice by to approve most of these additional costs.

Before any agreement was signed, I made it clear to
Miami Drywall Contractors Provider Name Locked
and
Miami Drywall Contractors Provider Name Locked
that I would hire a separate company to do my front and back patio. No issues were ever raised about this; however they later informed me that they also do patios and would be happy to give me a quote. On 6/10 I received their quote that was substantially higher (more than double) than another quote I already had, so I decided to stick with the original plan to have another company that specialized in patios to do the work.
On 6/9, we had a fire to our exterior electrical panel; I immediately contacted my insurance and 2 electricians to provide me a quote to fix the work, and of course asked
Miami Drywall Contractors Provider Name Locked
to also quote me a price from their preferred electrician. Once again,
Miami Drywall Contractors Provider Name Locked
's quote was the highest at $20,870 ($8,500 fire damage + $12,370 eliminating cloth wire). After receiving this quote on 6/13, we decided to hire a local electrician whose quote was 1/3rd the price to repair the fire damage.

Between 5/15 and 6/19, the architectural drawings were being prepared to be submitted to the city, and except for a couple days of work at the house, everything was pretty much at a standstill until the permit application was to be submitted. (I should also mention, that we were told Plans would be drafted and submitted within a week or two, we never expected this process to take over a month - The communication was very slow - I would advise everyone to hire an architect separately and never through the contractor).

On 6/19, while I was away on a work trip, and at the airport, I received a call from
Miami Drywall Contractors Provider Name Locked
and
Miami Drywall Contractors Provider Name Locked
around 8 pm letting me know that they did not feel comfortable working on the project if another electrician was to repair the damage from the fire. I was very surprised by this, and said I already hired the other electrician, and that they never notified me before that this would be a problem. I also said my hands were tied, as my insurance company would never pay the amount they were seeking, and that I could not afford their price. They then changed the subject, and said they did not feel comfortable that another contractor would be doing the patios, and voiced concerns about their insurance and the liability. I said this was also not a fair comment, as this was not a surprise, and something that was discussed before any agreement was signed. I also reminded them that the company that would do the patio would get a separate permit for the work, and were fully insured and licensed, and the same went for the electrician.

On 6/20 at 7:20 am I received a text from
Miami Drywall Contractors Provider Name Locked
, asking about lockbox code, and letting me know a contractor was at the property to pick up some tools.
Miami Drywall Contractors Provider Name Locked
then asked when my fiancé and I would be available to meet to finish the conversation from the night before. I replied we were available to meet in the afternoon, as my fiancé works nights and could not meet that morning. I then received a text at 9 am from
Miami Drywall Contractors Provider Name Locked
saying that they made the decision and would not be working on the project anymore. I was completely shocked, and asked her to provide us options of how we can move forward. From that point forward
Miami Drywall Contractors Provider Name Locked
turned into a very unfriendly
Miami Drywall Contractors Provider Name Locked
, and basically said they were done, and that they would not be returning the deposit we paid.

We paid $3,527 deposit upon acceptance to process the permits, and a $1,365 deposit for architectural plans to begin. Luckily the architect hired by
Miami Drywall Contractors Provider Name Locked
was a nice man, and didn't abandon the job, and we chose to continue working with him.

Between 5/15 and 6/19
Miami Drywall Contractors Provider Name Locked
removed a few remaining cabinets from the kitchen, removed part of the kitchen drywall, and removed tiles from the kitchen floor, and put down Durock cement board over the floor. The floor was completely uneven under the Durock, and it began to crumble a few weeks later. They did not create a flat surface under the Durock, they did not put down thin set under the Durock as required, and they did not put in enough screws to hold the Durock. We had all the Durock removed, and I offered for
Miami Drywall Contractors Provider Name Locked
to pick up her material.

The breach of contract and abandonment of the job by
Miami Drywall Contractors Provider Name Locked
has not only cost us our deposit but also several months delay and thus mortgage payments, etc. (since the house is not livable, and we're waiting to complete it in order to move in).

I recently contacted
Miami Drywall Contractors Provider Name Locked
to determine when they would refund us at least part of the deposit, and was met with very rude comments, and she said that we should pay them. What a joke. ...
Miami Drywall Contractors Provider Name Locked
seemed like a nice man, but as soon as his wife
Miami Drywall Contractors Provider Name Locked
got involved it was a nightmare. I would caution anyone with a budget about working with
Miami Drywall Contractors Provider Name Locked
. No matter what you agree to in the contract, she will figure out a way to make the profits she desires from you. And if your budget doesn't allow for it, you'll likely end up with an abandoned job like we did.

"!We contacted this company, based on the excellent reviews on Angie's list, on Sat. 8/4/12. We want to install an interior door, but we need to build up the opening (dry wall). We called and the next day a gentleman came over to give an estimate. He measured the space and said the "president " of the company would call us back within 4 hours with the estimate. Three days later, we have not heard from anyone. So we contacted the company again to ask for the estimate based on the measurements. We were told to call them back once the door arrives. I don't THINK SO!!! (they already knew it was a 36" door). If they were too busy to take on more work or were incapable of doing the work they should have told us, not strung us along for a wekk. We need to get this work done ASAP! Now we have a door and no one to hang it! We have to start the
Miami Drywall Contractors Provider Name Locked
all over again. I don't think this is good business practice. Very disappointed!! This is my very first experience with Angie's List...
