Baker sent, went into the basement, found the feed for the troublesome lines, and installed shut-off valves so that if and when this happens again, those lines can be closed without shutting off water in the whole house. They also devised a plan whereby if we ever want to run completely new lines to circumvent the old lead, it could be done through a closet, thereby avoiding damage to exposed walls some of which are wallpapered.
