"It went great.
Madison Carpenters Provider Name Locked
was very informative about what the work we needed would entail. His carpenter made several excellant suggestions including closing up the area above the bay window and filling it with insulation, which makes our living room much warmer and we would have never thought of. Most of the cost of the project was for the actual door and window so the labor charge was very reasonable."

"The carpentry work done by
Madison Carpenters Provider Name Locked
is excellent. All other work was done by sub-contractors. They took time for discussions with me and time to do a very careful job. They worked around my desire to do painting, staining, varnishing and wallpapering myself. I was told that, unlike other general contractors, they inform the client that they charge 20% for handling dealings with the subcontractors. The honesty is nice, but 20% seems excessive to me. They did a bit of carpentry for me at no charge, namely, constructing an arch over a path so that the rain downspout will not

"We gathered 3 competitive quotes in the mid-August timeframe and were finally able to sign
Madison Carpenters Provider Name Locked
's proposal a month later. We decided upon
Madison Carpenters Provider Name Locked
because they had the most reasonable price, and
Madison Carpenters Provider Name Locked
was the most knowledgeable about all the construction/replacement/installation aspects of this job.
Madison Carpenters Provider Name Locked
and his crew were always spot-on in arriving when he said they would; all communications were clear and prompt from start to finish.
Madison Carpenters Provider Name Locked
was also very agreeable in supplying us with references, a certificate of their workers compensation insurance policy, and a release of
Madison Carpenters Provider Name Locked
of materials from the supplier. We learned that
Madison Carpenters Provider Name Locked
also does painting. So we’ll be contacting them in the spring for further restoration of our old home.

"This is a very professional business. This job started out as what I thought would be a
Madison Carpenters Provider Name Locked
replacement of a rotted board at the bottom of the chimney chase. The repairman quickly noted that the rotting was caused by a water leak. He removed some of the siding and showed me that the rotting was much more extensive. He thoroughly explained the repairs needed and that the cost of the job would be quite a bit more than the what we originally thought. The men who did the work were experienced and professional. They completed the job in a timely manner and cleaned up all the rotted wood and insulation. The people in the office who I talked with over the phone were also very professional. In short, I am very satisfied with the work that was done and I highly recommend

"I actually found
Madison Carpenters Provider Name Locked
here on Angie's list and chose him because he could do a variety of interior and exterior projects. I didn't want to have to deal with too many different people. I found it more efficient this way. He basically does the work himself, but did bring on others for some parts of the exterior painting. Exterior painting - did a great job. I don't like ladders so that's why I paid someone to paint this. Also, as it is an old house with wood siding I needed this well sealed from the elements. I think he went through 30 tubes of caulk and repaired the areas where the wood was rotting. Also he brought three different colors of paints that we chose and painted a small portion of the house so we could see which color would work best. You can never tell from the samples. I think the detail was excellent. Was he cheap - no not really but he was competitive. I had some other quotes higher and lower. But for the money it was well worth it. Interior Paining - I had him paint our family room. I painted the bedrooms myself, but the family room walls were in bad shape. This was part of an addition put on in the early 70's and the fit and finish on the trim and walls were terrible. Plus there was water damage on the ceiling due to ice dams and there were 7 round 4-inch diajeter holes put in the ceiling by an electrician. So I needed someone to make this look good. Looks real nice. The trim and doors - Again, in the newer part of the house nothing but cheap trim. I had him install oak trim to match the rest of the house.

did a wonderful job matching the stain that was around the window trim (which was put in last year by
Madison Carpenters Provider Name Locked
). He did the staining and varnishing himself on these. The install job was well done. My walls are not particularly square, but he can bearly tell with the trim. I read this over and see that it is pretty much all positive. There were a few minor issues but these were addressed (such as my wife thinking that the bedroom door let in too much light from the hallway). And when you spend good money you expect a good job. But the bottom line is I got a great job done from someone who is easy to communicate with. One reason you pay for contractors is for their experience. I thought he gave very good advice. It was an overall positive experience. I would hire
Madison Carpenters Provider Name Locked
again and probably will. (The closet shelfing was not part of the original scope, but I added that on at the very end. We are taking about redoing my fireplace mantel if it falls within my budget.) Note, this work was performed over a few month period so the service date is approximate date he finished the major portions of the work - he came back to finish things up after I had some other work done.

Broom is the man for everything. He is the owner of the business. He is awesome. I hire him to help me with projects that I don't have the tools for. I am lucky. I have had good people working for me and have not felt like somebody was taking advantage of me. I never knew what to do with the room he put the shelves in but it has now become a pantry, art supply room, and a storage room with a freezer space. I wanted a small freezer unit and I got a unit that was a perfect fit. The shelves are awesome. I am really happy about that. The exhaust fan was heavy so we had to work hard on that. We worked together and I helped him with some of the other stuff. He is going to help me finish my ceiling. He has helped me with some little projects all around the house. He is always helping me buy things that I need for the house since he sometimes gets a better deal than I would. He is going to help me remodel my bathroom with me. He will help me tile the bathroom. I am an artist doing some other stuff. He is the first handyman out of 6 or 7 I talked to who is willing to do anything I need done and willing to work with me. His rates are great in comparison to another handyman that I talked to and who is affordable.
Madison Carpenters Provider Name Locked
is certainly reasonable and does great work. If he can't do something he will recommend for me to get a professional for that specific case. He got a friend of his who is a professional plumber to come and double check on the plumbing. The pipes were leaking and he wasn't happy with it. I would continue to use him in the future.

"I have been wanting to maximize the space in my dining room for a long time. I thought of an idea for putting in a banquette. I sent my idea to
Madison Carpenters Provider Name Locked
with a few photos showing examples of what I was thinking about. They were able to communicate my vision right back to me, and gave suggestions for materials that I wasn't even aware existed in the marketplace. I was please beyond my expectation. They built something that not only seats more people in a smaller amount of space, they added a significant amount of
Madison Carpenters Provider Name Locked
storage, that allows me to keep my small house clutter free. The craftmanship was outstanding.

"He came out within a day or so after I asked him to come and gave me an estimate. He looked around, measured and we talked a lot about what I wanted. I accepted the estimate that he gave me, so, he came out when he said he would and finished the work in a reasonable amount of time. He did a very good job."

"They are a good company. They work very hard when they are here, as well as clean up well. They are very easy to work with. We had a question on our bill, they adjusted it for us."
