Hardscaping Reviews in Madison

I hired Nick
to plow the driveway and parking lot of my commercial building in the winter of 2012. I called him in December 2013 to find out if he wanted to continue to plow it in 2013. He never called me back. I saw him plowing the driveway and parking lot next door to my building one day and I asked if we wanted to continue to do mine. He said yes and he plowed the driveway and parking lot that day. During the next snowfall I cleared the snow from the driveway and I left him a message telling him that I still needed the parking lot plowed. He did not plow the lot and he did not return my call. I know a lot of folks don't check their voice mail, so I sent him a text message. No response. I ended up clearing the lot myself with a snow blower. Two voice mail messages, two text messages and two messages through his website later and I have still not heard from him.
He did a god job last year, but I need a contractor who will return my calls.

I was extremely impressed with the work ethic, knowledge, care and professionalism of everyone who worked on the project over the week they were here. These guys know what they're doing!During demolition, there was very little room to maneuver the bobcats between the wall being torn down and my neighbor's garage and deck, but these guys were pros all the way. They also left a clean work site every night, which was no easy task. The employees who built the new wall did an incredible job that required a lot of hand-digging and absolute accuracy to make sure the new wall stayed inside my property line. They also incorporated an attractive curve and steps that show creativity and pride of workmanship. I added some landscaping to the original project and I'm very pleased with the way they planted the trees (to make sure they were aesthetically pleasing) and regraded and mulched one side of the house. The final price was in keeping with the estimate and with the price
quoted me as I added the landscaping. Overall, I'd give
's an A+ (which I don't hand out easily).

Hardscaping reviews in Madison

Overall, it was a perfect experience! From start to finish the process was smooth and a complete success. This was our first time using
Madison Patio Pavers Provider Name Locked
as I found them on Angie's List, and the reviews here are accurate.
Madison Patio Pavers Provider Name Locked
was our landscape architect and from the 3 different bids and plans I received, he listened the most closely to what I wanted and for all that the plan included by far it was the best price and certainly the most creative.
Madison Patio Pavers Provider Name Locked
was very responsive to questions and modified the plan as necessary to fit our budget. Another aspect that we appreciated is that they have a big crew, so the project didn't drag on and on for weeks...they were done with the grading and hardscaping within 3 days.
Madison Patio Pavers Provider Name Locked
was our foreman and he kept us informed of their progress and made great suggestions.
We have done several building and landscaping projects in the past (on different homes) and
Madison Patio Pavers Provider Name Locked
provides truly excellent service...we will definitely be using them again!

The overall experience was excellent. The price was good, because that kind of service is expensive in general. They were punctual, responsive, and professional. They were courteous. I would use this provider again.

The area was not properly graded away from the house prior to installing the pavers as was discussed prior to installation. Patio is not level, contains dips. Where patio

meets a gate, the pavers were not secured in any fashion, and would move around and drop over the

. They were called back and fixed it somewhat, but still not graded properly and still contains dips though less so. They put a concrete strip in to secure the

pavers at the gate. The concrete cracked over the winter and some of the other pavers have sunk in a little. Will have to apply more setting sand, too.

We first contacted three people for bids and based on the quality of the bid we chose
Madison Patio Pavers Provider Name Locked
. What impressed us the most was that they were prompt in returning calls and also developed a plan that was more than the bare minimum we asked for - without being beyond our targeted budget.
Madison Patio Pavers Provider Name Locked
was great at helping design the patio to be both functional and look like more than just a square brick patio, suggested several plants, and also suggested areas where we could save on costs. After signing the contract it took ~2-3 weeks for work to start and everything went smoothly. They did a great job and cleaned up the yard very well after all of the work. we've been happily enjoying our yard for the last month - worth every penny.

We met with
Madison Patio Pavers Provider Name Locked
several times. We had detailed plans that we gave him to bid out the project. We visited his previous work. His personality and demeanor are excellent. He gave us a bid that was very competitive and we decided to use him. He asked for a 50% deposit but while we checked his references, one suggested that we should 'pay as we go' because he had a problem with time management. So I negotiated a 'pay as you go' payment arrangement and he ordered the materials and began the job. He originally told us that it would take 6 weeks to complete the project. He works primarily alone but at times one or two others did help him. He worked long hours, sometimes for early AM til 8, 9 or 10 PM! While we were well into the job, the days he worked on our project became sporadic, sometimes working only Fri, Sat and Sun. It seemed that things were going well until early August (now about 3 weeks into the project) when he was absent for about 3 weeks. He stated that he was doing some work for a contractor on homes he was finishing! When work continued it was mainly on the weekends; we were now 8 weeks into the project and things were slowing down. The

and arbor were holding things up and we started hearing plausible and implausible excuses. Fortunately, I was paying as he went and I stayed ahead of him and began to set goals before the payment went to him. (Throughout the whole process the quality of the work was custom and excellent.) We dragged into Sept and then into Oct with painful slowness and some doubt on my part that the project would be completed. Lots of phone calls, lots of excuses, slow and slower work. We were now getting into Thanksgiving time and the slow work continued...but remember, the work remained excellent. Now it was getting cold and the work continued. Very cold and some flurries were in the air; it is now December, nearly 6 months from the start (remember, this was a six week project). The final work and most of the cleanup were done right before the first snow and that was the end of the project for 2008! I stilled owed several thousand dollars and paid half by January and suggested that in the spring of 2009 when the 'punch list' was complete, I would pay the final $1,000. that didn't happen until April 2009. We absolutely love our new hardscaping, but need therapy for all the angst that

caused us.

Fantastic, clearly the best contractors we've ever used on any type of home improvement/repair project. Extremely responsive and cordial, always willing to offer helpful advice and tips. At every step of the way it was obvious they wanted to do the best job possible for us. I saw the
Madison Patio Pavers Provider Name Locked
crew installing the patio and re-grading the back yard and their speed and professionalism was amazing. This was without a doubt the best investment we've made in our home.
- Kent B.

They spread the work out over the entire summer, so as to attend to their nursery, but we understood that the work would be done on an as available basis and accepted that. We were not seeking fast, but rather a work of art and that's what we got. We have also been to their nursery to choose additional plants and they are of the highest quality and include a broad and lively assortment.
- Henry S.

It went well! One neighbor was walking his dog and stopped by and talked to me about the driveway because his driveway needed some repair. I was very pleased with the timeliness and neatness of the work. It looks great and the landscaping looks super too!
