"I bought the car in August of 2006. I had read and been told that I should only buy a car with a "factory Certified Used Car Warranty", which this car had. I took the car back 3 weeks after I had taken position of the car because of braking issues, and was told that "there was just a little rust on the brake disks, and they sanded it off and that should ...more take care of the problem". Three weeks later I was informed that Smart had sold the dealership to a company in

I took the car to other company and was informed that the factory certified warranty had not been done on this car, that the service techs that transferred to this company from Smart had been told to "Only do safety inspections and repair only problems related to safety" while still at Smart. I was informed that repair of the brakes and changing the transmission fluid (which should have been done) would cost $1400, which I ended up paying. I was advised to go back to Smart and have them look up the service record, which they did, and they confirmed that only a basic service had been performed. The manager of the other company took my paperwork and promised to look into the problem for me and see if he could work something out because they wanted to make me a happy customer and that they also had received some used car inventory from Smart that also had many "service problem issues". I was told that either he or someone from Smart would get back to me, neither of which happened. From my experience I feel that a factory certified used car warranty is a sales tool only and has limited protection for the consumer. I would never buy another used car or another car from Smart."
