"I called him to replace my gas water heater. We discussed pros and cons of alternative equipment and I went with his recommendation. It was a non-emergency job and he asked if I objected to a delay of a couple days as he was in the middle of another job. I said no. He arrived on time, removed the old unit, installed the new unit. He worked diligently alone and was finished within three hours. The job included a rerouting of the copper pipe on the pressure relief valve, adding a shutoff valve, braising the copper connections and replacing the vent to confirm to current code. The job looks clean and professional. The city inspector looked at it a couple weeks later, remarked on the quality of the workmanship and quickly approved it. I have previously used the same plumber to replace bathtub faucets on one occasion and to repair a leaking supply line under the driveway and have been happy with the work in all cases. "

"My water heater broke down and I called
Louisville Water Heater Installers Provider Name Locked
they came. In the meantime, I had ordered the part that was not working from the manufacturer of the water heater and they sent it overnight. It came just in time for him to install it, which he did. However, after he installed it, he found something else wrong with the water heater. I paid him his charges and rather than go any further because it got complicated after that, I just bought a new water heater. I was not really happy with what he did. I am in this house for 12 years and this house is 19 years old. I am assuming that was the first water heater and we are easy on stuff. So rather than have him fix that and have it break down again, we made a decision on buying a water heater. I wasn't happy with the fact that he found something else wrong. I was upset that he found an additional problem that should have been fixed when he installed the other part. Whether he did fix it or not, I don't know. I will never call him again. I think his charge was overpriced because I ordered the part and he just had to put it in. They were here quickly. I would never use them again."

Dear Angie: My water heater is leaking. The plumber I hired said it would cost $150 for a water heater code violation. Do you know what he is talking about? Is there such a thing? – G.C., Columbia, S.C.

Temperature relief valves critical to water heater safety

A T&P relief valve is a two-in-one safety device, which, as its name implies, responds to both excessive temperature and to excessive pressure in a water heater. (Photo courtesy of Angie's List member Robert B.)

Water heaters have many critical components, but none are more critical than the temperature relief valve. Learn how to make sure that your both T&P valve and thermal expansion tank are both working properly

How much should water heater installation cost?

The cost for a professional water heater depends on more than just the unit itself - meeting current plumbing codes, and ensuring safety and proper installation are important factors, too. (Photo courtesy of Angie's List member Michael K.)

"My gas water heater began leaking at 9:30 pm, we called
Louisville Water Heater Installers Provider Name Locked
SERVICE Pluming. The answering service took information and a representative called me back within 10 minutes. The representative gave me an estimate over the phone and arrived around 11:30. They removed the old water heater and replaced it with a new one. They also put in new shut-off valves for the whole house and the water heater, some re-plumbing was needed for the whole house valve. They gave us a one year warranty on workmanship and six year warranty on water heater. The representative was finished with installation around 1:15 am. The representatives were courteous and friendly. I was very happy with the work however the price was a little high."

"Called them about a leaking hot water heater. Agent was ahead of time and friendly, and was always directly on the job. Had right part and checked to make sure it was ONLY the emergency release valve and not a pressure problem. Reasonably priced, professional, and prompt. I will definitely be using them again."

"Mr.
Louisville Water Heater Installers Provider Name Locked
has been a licensed plumber since 1986. He arrived on time in his work van and was very professional. He worked quickly to install my water heater and cleaned up after himself, when finished. The $130 included a $30 service call, 1.5 hours of labor ($50/hour) and $25 for parts, which was extremely reasonable, when compared to the $300-$500 installation estimates, that I had received from other reputable plumbing companies. Mr.

moved my old water heater into an inconspicuous place in my basement for storage until I could dispose of it later. Before he left, he told me to call him, if I had any problems with the water heater. As of now, two weeks after the installation, I have had no problems with the water heater.

"I paid a fair price for a good job. They were able to do the work on very short notice (I called at 10am and had hot water by 5:00 that evening). The plumber was on time (they called within 30 minutes to say he was on his way), courteous, and cleaned up after a messy job with a leaky heater. He replaced a broken cut-off valve and added a few feet of copper pipe to the pressure-relief valve to bring to code at no charge. Although, after he said he would not report the extra $150 worth of work, he fished for a tip."

"He was excellent. We never use anyone but him. We called him and he was here within twenty minutes. He looked around, saw the problem and he fixed it. He didn't mess around. I really like him, he's honest."

"I hired them from a friend's recommendation. They held my hand the whole way through it and they made sure that everything I was doing myself, I was doing right. They were willing to accept the fact that I was going to do a lot of the work myself and were very helpful about it."
