"They kept on delaying the procedure and wanting to charge more each time. Could never get a firm price for their services. We decided not to do business with them. Be carful and beware.

"He was plain spoken and described the issue clearly using MRI and X-
results side by side. He explained the nerve problem, its aggravation by heavy physical" activity and suggested treatment. He wanted to avoid any back surgery so he recommended an injection into the problem area. The injection plus limiting extreme activity has managed the problem. We would recommend him.

"Back pain, weakness and pain in left leg, knee and hip. Originally seen in 2006 for this issue, Dr. Johans indicated there was an issue at L4 or 5 and maybe S1 but did not think operating" would be the best decision. So I instead received injections which helped for short terms (2 weeks
). October 15, 2014 he operated and the entirety of pain in my knee is gone...no throbbing. The main issue is his sanctimonious, self righteous and arrogant manner. He looks down on me because I am a veteran, who had no insurance, and was trying to get the VA to help with paying, and admitting these injuries were service connected. "I hate dealing with Vets" were his exact words with me during one visit. I had complained about the same problem to the VA since my release from active duty and retirement in 2005. I was deployed to Operation Iraqi Freedom (OIF III) in 2004. I had a vehicle accident in 2004 and the VA rated my knee and service conected it. But they didn't really treat it, they simply indicated I had some arthritis, and put me on pain meds. I told the VA in 2005 my back, hip, leg and knee all hurt, and they simply ignored this for nearly a year. In 2006 I had an upright MRI done, and there was an issue in one of my L-S discs. Dr. Johans saw this right away...the VA didn't. The VA put me on pain pills, and reluctantly I started using them, because they helped. I travel extensively (averaging 150 segments per year since 2002), and pain medication helped on plane rides especially. In 2007, I was laid off and lost insurance, and did consulting work, and continued to travel. The pain became worse, but the VA continued to treat me with more meds, and soon I became mostly tolerant of these. The pain became excruciating in 2014, I had a new job with insurance, traveling more extensively, and went to Johans again....he agreed the issue was worse after another MRI, and said surgery would help. He told me, to "Continue taking the pain meds...you need them" Now I have to admit, most of the pain preoperative has diminished, and I am grateful. But Dr. Johans is now treating me like I am an idiot for taking the pain meds int he first place. He refuses to give me anything post operatively to help with the surgical pain. I told him I only wanted 2-4 pills of non acetaminophen Oxy which will help for the next 5-7 days. The surgery folks indicated this was a fair ask, and would not be wrong considering my "Opioid tolerance) Great surgeon...horrible people person, and completely judgmental. I would likely go back, only because he has helped me overall. But I would rather NEVER speak with him in person, because immediately I get this "you're a bad person and idiot" attitude from him as soon as I begin speaking. He has no compassion really, and doesn't seem to empathize at all. I admit my dependence...I admit the opioid tolerance, and am looking forward to dealing with all of this in the next few weeks. But I don't feel I should have to deal with it 24 hours after having major back surgery.

I have a fairly severe curve in my back that cause my Spondylolisthesis at L4 L5-S1 to slip forward significantly. This causes me to have numbness and tingling in my legs and feet. Dr.
Louisville Back Surgeons Provider Name Locked
is the first and only doctor to show me what my spine would look like post surgery (hardware included). He showed me 3-4 examples that were similar to mine to give me a good example. Since the surgery wouldn't be for 3-4 months he wants me to see a nutritionist to get as healthy and as light as possible since I'm around 40-50 lbs. overweight. He knows losing weight will help me heal better. I also have a blood clotting factor and he is having me see a Hematologist to ensure I get prepared for surgery. This doctor is so thorough. Right now he is at the top of my list for spinal fusion. Ignore the post from the other person since he didn't even meet with Dr.
Louisville Back Surgeons Provider Name Locked
. I'll post again if I get surgery from him. I'm pray he's the one. I'm 29 and have dealt with this for a decade. Ready for a new chapter:)

I wanted to be fair with him. I thought after the surgery, I would be walking and it’s been more than a year. My understanding from him is that some of the things I’m probably having trouble with now, he did not operate on and they have gotten bad. I
Louisville Back Surgeons Provider Name Locked
’t know if I can blame him for that or not but I’m really concern about it. I didn’t want to take the shots in my back because I had them before and they generally
Louisville Back Surgeons Provider Name Locked
’t do very much for me after three-month period. If haven’t had the surgery, I probably won’t be doing anything and I’d be lying in bed but I’m disappointed that I’m not walking. They seemed to be very busy and it’s not that easy to get an appointment right away. You certainly have to wait for a time. One thing they have done is try to refer me to someone else to those shots but I’m not interested in that. I
Louisville Back Surgeons Provider Name Locked
’t think that there is anything else that they provide me will help me feel better. None of them was on time. The staffs were quite friendly.

Dr. Tohmeh is a genius and an amazing orthopedic surgeon.
I have suffered from chronic back pain for years, but I still had my mobility, so I had done all I could to avoid an operation on my spine.
Unfortunately, as time went on, a vertebra in my spine began compressing another nerve, causing sharp pain to shoot down my right leg whenever I tried to walk. The back pain I could still tolerate, but this new leg pain was debilitating to the point that I became home-bound.
I had visited another surgeon prior my visit to Dr. Tohmeh. When this other surgeon proposed a much more invasive procedure with a much longer recovery time, I said no because of how complicated the surgery would be. It would involve incisions in both my stomach and back, and I just couldn't stand the thought of being opened up on both sides.
Thank goodness I then sought out Dr. Tohmeh. Believe it or not, my spinal fusion and decompression were MINIMALLY invasive! Dr. Tohmeh made two small incisions in my back and one above my right hip. That was it!
He and

, the physician's assistant, made sure I was satisfied with what the surgery would entail, and

, his nurse, was always kind and patient during my recovery. They were all excellent teachers and coaches.
It's been ten months almost to the day and my right leg is still pain-free.
I highly recommend Dr. Tohmeh and his team!

Dr.
Louisville Back Surgeons Provider Name Locked
does an excellent job of diagnosing painful knees and developing strategies for controlling the pain. He orders a knee brace and crutches, gives you pain medication, and determines what additional treatment is needed by means of x-rays and MRIs.

This whole experience (it's not over yet) has been the worst thing to ever happen to me. I can't sit, I can't stand. I
Louisville Back Surgeons Provider Name Locked
around all day long hurting. I'm destroying my liver and my kidneys because instead of fixing the problem, Dr.
Louisville Back Surgeons Provider Name Locked
only wants to medicate me to death. I think they are spending more money on a lifetime's worth of drugs than they would to just fix the problem and let me get on with my life. I would rather be paralyzed from the waist down than to hurt like this every day. This accident has destroyed my life because this doctor didn't feel like helping me. Of course, there's no telling how may thousands of dollars he got paid to treat me this way either. The worker's comp. system in Oklahoma isn't for the worker's, it's for the insurance companies, attorneys and crooked doctors, and they are all like vultures hovering over a wounded animal, picking at it all of the time, trying to torture every last breath out of it, before it

I had seen probably 30 surgeons, including neurosurgeons, who refused to do anymore surgery on my back. I was in a wheelchair and could not walk. After a few visits with Dr. Maxy and trying everything he suggested including injections and therapy, he finally agreed to at least attempt to help me. I threatened suicide if he didn't! (laughing now) Anyway, he finally agreed that he would "try". All the doctors were afraid of paralyzing me. Six weeks later he did the surgery and the next day I WALKED!!! I cannot say enough about his love and care for his patients. He is the most awesome surgeon ever! I recommend him highly out of all five surgeons who have operated on my back. Neursurgeons would not even take the

After the surgery Dr.
Louisville Back Surgeons Provider Name Locked
told me everything I wanted to know, including things I didn't even think I need to know, for making the best recover. Following his advice allowed for him to remove the cast in less than 4 weeks. He gave explicit instructions on the do's and
Louisville Back Surgeons Provider Name Locked
'ts for recovering, and in less than 5 weeks I had my full range of motion back, something a friend of mine who had suffered the same fracture some years before never recovered. I think he could sense my anxiousness because he emphasized the importance of not over exerting my arm. I really have to thank him for that because I know that is the reason my friend didn't properly heal. His office has been very accommodating as far as scheduling. Upon each visit Dr.
Louisville Back Surgeons Provider Name Locked
has answered all of my questions clearly and has given great advice on how best to continue with what I feel is a very rapid recovery. Words cannot fully express how grateful I am that Dr.

was my surgeon. Again, if you are in need of an orthopedic surgeon, Dr
Louisville Back Surgeons Provider Name Locked
is amazing at what he does and I would personally recommend him to anyone I know.
Thank You Dr.
