Hvac Reviews in Louisville

When I first called
- which I've been using for years - to come check my a/c, it was
11. I was told the coil was leaking, and then it "there's a crack in your furnace, so it should be replaced." Considering both were 15 years old (though I know now, from reading the other reviews, there might not have been), I believed it (without having seen it myself) and I okayed a new one ($6355). They installed it that day, taking 5.5 hours to do it. (I was told it would only take a couple of hours.) The new coil and furnace were installed, but by Sunday night, the a/c was again not working. I called and they came out Monday morning. It took from 10-2 before I kicked them out because I had things to do and they were to come back after 4pm. One came back just before 7pm. By 9, he told me he thought it might be the high pressure switch (hps), but could he come back the next day to work on it. I said no, as I already had other plans for the day, and they'd wasted 2 of my off days as it was. Another came back on Friday (18th), and got it working. Again, by Sunday, it wasn't. Monday (21st), the one from the previous Monday eve came back; said it was the hps, but the part would have to be ordered; it would cost $883; he could give me the "club" price for $795. He also suggested to replace the heat pump ($6100). I nixed that, and that was the point I was done with
. I contacted a couple of friends for referrals for 2nd opinions, and they came through. I had 2 other companies come out. The first one wasn't Carrier-certified, but he recommended the 2nd one, who was. This 2nd company was able to bypass the hps, and will replace the switch in a day or 2, by making it an easier access, and so much less (like, nearly $600 less). So there you have it.

Another company had replaced the coil (& furnace) a week ago, but the a/c was still not working. They came back last week without having been able to fix it. Came back Friday and it seemed fixed, but by Sunday night, it wasn't working again. The man came this morning, told me it was the pressure switch but the part had to be ordered so it'd be maybe a couple of days and cost $883.
In the meantime, today, I got a couple of referrals from friends. I had called the first of the 2 (
& Son), who came out but couldn't help me, but he gave me
& AC's name (certified Carrier servicing). I called
and "
" came out and found the above as stated. He fixed it up by bypassing the high pressure switch, which should hold for a couple of days until he gets the part he needs and then he'll be back to permanently repair it. At that time, the figure will be about $40 for the part and $40 for labor. So for $300, I'll have it fixed properly, thus saving me nearly $600! I actually called "
" from
's to thank him for the referral, and contacted my friend who'd referred me to
's. He did tell me that the reason it's so much less, is the switch could be replaced on the outside of the a/c unit with very little difficulty and it would still work very well. If he replaced it on the inside, then that's the increase in cost, as there is much more work involved (emptying out the freon; cleaning it up; replacing the switch; replacing the freon; charging it up).
I told
they have a new customer. I had also told
's), I'd be happy to recommend them, too, even though he couldn't actually fix my unit.

went beyond what other contractors were going to do. he is extremely knowledgeable and helped us understand what work needed to be done and why, no other a/c service has done that before. His price was a little higher but because he explained the whole process and why things needed to be done this way we felt more comfortable with him decided we trusted him more and that was worth the cost. His work was very meticulous and we are so glad we went with him.

He was very friendly, and performed the service efficiently. My unit was low on coolant so he filled that up. He also spent a moment glancing at my furnace to see if everything looked ok - not an in depth investigation, but just a once over.

I made the appointment via the Angies List website, and they called back maybe the next day. No problems with scheduling, the guy showed up on time, was professional and courteous. Took maybe an hour for the tune up and replaced the filter. We have paid $140 for this filter before, but his charge was only $40. Very happy with the experience.

was quick to respond to the unit not working correctly and then worked with us to explore the different options regarding the different replacement units available, taking into account a wide range of budget options. He was a great resource. Once the decision was made, he worked with us to quickly process the paperwork to get the unit ordered and complete the installation.

Arrived on time at 9:30 and finished up about 4:30PM. Cleaned up debris, etc. Gave me copies of all documentation and then sent me documents so I could claim a rebate from our local electric company (LG&E). Personnel were extremely polite with over 20 years experience performing such work. This was the 2nd time I used

- last time was at my residence and this time was at my 2nd home. The equipment is first rate and American Standard is rated #1 by a well-known consumer magazine. They size the units correctly so that my electric bill is way below what others pay and far below my old system. I estimate that I save from $50 to $175 per month in utility bills (varys with the season and temperature). Its important that the unit is appropriate for the size of the house. When they arrived, they had already looked up the property and knew the size and square feet of the residence before we even signed a contract.

The day of the tune up they called and asked if they could push me back. To me, not good as a new customer. They came out, checked my air conditioners and recommended a repair, but also said it wasn't urgent and probably would last the summer.
The next morning there was no cold air. When they came back out it turns out there was a connection that was not connected from the previous day. Then about a week or so later, there was no cold air again. The tech I spoke with essentially did everything in his power to not have to come out on a Sunday.
I waited until Monday and called and was told I would get a call back in about half an hour. An hour later I called to find out when they were coming to repair my unit. It was in the high 80's that day and I work at home. After a discussion with the dispatch coordinator indicating my displeasure with the customer service thus far, she asked for a

to make it right. Within a couple hours my unit was fixed.
My comment is this: they made it right, but my jury is still out until the furnace tune-ups in the fall.

These people were horrible. In January it was determined that I needed a thermostat that read the outdoor temperature because I have dual fuel. They sent out a nice young man who had no clue what he was doing. He came back with a thermostat that did not work, then no contact for months. This work was through the American Home Shield Home Warranty company. I finally asked for another company, they sent

Mechanical. The same rude technician was boss now of that company. They sent a technician who was in a great hurry, he installed the thermostat. We could hear the fan working. He left, we found out the compressor wasn't running. I called and was told he could not come back until another day. By then I did not want to see anyone from this company. I called the company that installed the system, they came out within the hour, all was well. So, $400 later, I will never use
