Roofing reviews in Los Angeles

I got estimates from 5 different roofers, all highly rated, to replace the old roof on a house I recently purchased. It's a small, one story house but it had, I believe, 3 layers of very old roofing and a one car detached garage. Plus there was an addition sometime in the 50's, so I was told the roof situation was a little odd.
Some of the contractors made me even more nervous when they detailed all the problems I might have, extra wood I might need, etc. Sort of like a dentist who pokes around and says "Uh oh...that's not good.." instead of "don't worry we'll take care of it, it will e fine." Ovi was actually the first person I met with, and after meeting with 4 others, I finally decided I was the most comfortable with him for that reason, plus his bid was the lowest. He was also the only contractor that provided an allowance for a certain amount of wood replacement.
I'm so glad I went with Ovi. I wasn't at home during the week the roof was being done, but everything went more smoothly than I could have hoped. He does a ton of roofs, and the experience shows. Demolition started on a Tuesday, and to my surprise, I found out it was done on Thursday. The work was top notch, everything looked great and completely cleaned up. After I paid the remaining amount, his crew even came out the next week to do a few minor additional things I asked for. It's so refreshing to find a contractor who you can really trust, and who isn't out to pad the bill where they can.
To top it off, we had a freak thunderstorm on the saturday after my roof was done in the middle of the summer, what are the odds of that. As I expected, there were no leaks at all.
I highly recommend

Los Angeles Roofing Contractors Provider Name Locked
came out to my property within 24 hours and provided an estimate within 48 hours. He was able to answer all my questions and provided me with insights around the differences between what he was proposing and what another roofer was quoting. Ultimately, what
Los Angeles Roofing Contractors Provider Name Locked
explained made sense to me and his pricing was in line with what was being delivered. It took 2-3 weeks to get the job started which made sense to me (if he wasnt busy, then i would actually be concerned). The total job took 5 days, which was a little longer than i though that it would, but seemed to be driven by the fact that i needed plywood on my roof, which strung out the deliveries of roofing material a bit. The overall quality of the roof seems to be good, but the first rains will be the real test.

was very professional, but I was disappointed by the professionalism of his foreman (I give

and A and his foreman a C). I would use
Los Angeles Roofing Contractors Provider Name Locked
again but would request a different foreman. I feel that I got good value for the money spent.

They didnt call me back until two weeks later just as I was awarding the job, and at that point the nice lady on the phone said that she would have an estimator contact me...they never did. I guess they were too busy to want my $10,000 + re-roof. Based on other comments, they seem to have lost the ability to reply in a timely manner...too bad as they were the most local of the companies i contacted.

Neighbor complained to city inspector after we removed fence vegetation from our property. She was told not her concern. As a revengeful tactic, she said "I believe you should look at their garage". My wife, in good faith, several years earlier (prior to our marriage) had remodeled the garage w/o a permit. Work was done to code...So it goes. We got several bids from contractors to rebuild the garage and settled with

Jr Guy was always on call if I had concerns. He was extremely pleasant and on time. He was always willing to work with my schedule. His crew were very respectful of my property and pets.
Jr Guy was very helpful and understanding of my particular circumstances. I was on a deadline and right before work was to start, my loan was transferred to another mortgage lender. My repairs were covered by my homeowners insurance and the check had been sent to my original lender to be signed and then sent back to me. It took well over a month for me to receive the funds to pay B & G roofing. Jr Guy allowed me to pay what I could afford from my own funds and was extremely patient about receiving full payment.
The work took 3 days and looks great.

All I can say is "Thank you B & G" Roofing.

Ed, the roofer was punctual and friendly. He knew what he was doing and asked me what the apparent problems were that I had noticed. He did find that the garage roof was poorly done by another company, and showed me pictures of the areas that had come open. I will need a new roof on the garage, and he said he would have the company send me an estimate. He said the house roof was OK. No attempt to upsell.

We got the Angieslist deal for them to do the gutter cleaning and that went really well. They also inspected our roof since it's 9 years old. they were very knowledgeable, showed up right on time and even called first, took pictures to show us what needed fixing, etc. I can't remember the pricing on the repairs and seals they did, but it was good since I had shopped around.
The $720 price I'm quoting here is for the install of the 2 wind turbine vents. Our roof has no ventilation so really hoping that this makes a big difference. The price is really good as the other bid I got, also an Angieslist vendor was considerably more--about $1100. The wind turbines are those roof vents that look kind of like giant mushrooms on your roof, and they spin with the slightest breeze.

Originally we contacted Slater rooking for an estimate to repair some loose tiles on the roof, and to replace a skylight, the estimate was very reasonable actually on the low side, As we were talking about the skylight he was in his truck leaving the property as i was trying to explain what exactly we wanted he was almost driving away, i thought a licensed bonded professional contractor would be able to provide some samples a picture or something therefore leaving it to me to look on the internet and guess on what the final product might look like. all i am able to tell him was we wanted to replace what looked like the original skylight that came with the house, i was trying to explain we wanted a tinted type not to bright but not to dark, he said we don't want that what we want is a frosted one , thinking to myself he must know what he is doing so i took his word for it.
A little over 3 weeks pass and a very polite man arrives with the skylight , installs it and WoW the amount of light it let is was amazing as we thought this was completely wrong . The old one let in less light, i call the company and express my concerns , i was told they would take care it, the gentleman leaves and we wait all day thinking he would return witch never happens , i receive an invoice that evening threw the email for the job, the job that is still not even finished and we receive the bill. A week passes by and i hear nothing from them so i call and the remedy i am told is they would apply some window tint ( the kind for cars) to the outside of the dome skylight ( the original skylight being a flat type ) .
Being open minded i think ok lets see if it works, i was given a call the night before they were scheduled to arrive and was told we would be there first thing in the morning, morning arrives and there are 4 men on the roof my wife is in the shower at the time . the skylight is off and there is a gaping hole in the middle of our house ( can you image ) not very professional at least ring the door bell or give a phone call letting us know you have arrived. So disturbing ......
As they are applying the window tint it looks horrible you can see the two pieces of tint are not lining up it is looking horrible at this point, i call the company the owner arrives with a terrible attitude like this is my fault, he is complaining saying things like lets just put a piece of plywood over the hole making comments to his employees , another suggestion he made was to spray paint it black.. at this point i just lost it and asked the to get off my property all this aggravation for nothing
So not getting what we original asked for he makes us pay for labor and materiel, i find the distributor he purchased the skylight for and the cost is only $ 280.00 dollars, and his cost to us for this nightmare $675.00.. and now we have a black trash bag covering the skylight as my wife said he is a
