"Had roof replaced by another contractor and it leaked. of
Octagon came out and repaired the leaking section and extended the
protection underneath the tile. He showed up promptly for the estimate,
which was in line with the other company's estimate to fix the leak,
and his workers were on-time, polite and clean.
I would use this company again"

"We're admittedly very hard to please customers, because we know what we want and are picky, picky, picky! We do our own research, and give prospective contractors a spec sheet so they can all bid the same job. We're open to their suggestions if they know things we don't, which we pretty much expect them to, so our spec sheet does morph as we get more information, material samples, pricing, etc., from them, but we do send them the spec sheet in advance of the estimate meeting, so we're always disappointed when they show up and ask what we want, not having written anything down from the 1st phone call or reviewed our specs. did NOT do this, and the fact that I'm giving these guys straight As says a lot about their quality. We met with at least a dozen roofers before hiring these guys, and when we first looked up, we didn't even call them because they only had the C39 license for roofs and we needed someone with a B General Contracting license for the deck and deck door parts of the job. We didn't want to hire someone with a B license who'd just sub out the roof, because the roof was too important a job to not hire the roofers directly. So lucky us, a couple of months before we looked at them again, they had gotten their B license.
This is a family-owned and operated company, and they've been in the roof business for decades. is the owner, is an operations/sales guy, and so is , and they're prompt in returning emails and calls. That's a major plus, but even better, they know modern roof techniques, like this modified bitumen torch granule stuff which is white (but you have to keep it clean to get the maximum benefits) to reflect the sun and help keep out some of the CA heat. Here's another major and rare plus - they actually have a store, and don't work out of a truck so you know exactly where to find them and you know they're not going anywhere.
Their workers are great too, hardworking and skilled at their jobs. First they removed the deck, then they put the new roof down, then they installed the new deck, and the gutters, and last, they changed out our old deck door for the new one. They got our roof and deck on fast (during the rainy season!) and without any hitches once we got fit into the schedule. They did hire a contractor who had had his license pulled to do our deck and deck door, but he worked under 's license so we felt covered, we checked one of the guy's references, and we were very pleased with the deck and deck door work. There was a slight delay finishing the deck door part of the job (why the end of construction projects always seems to take as long as the whole rest of job is a mystery but it's true) and some some very minor paint damage from taking out the deck door and putting roof nails in our ceiling (since our 50s post-and-beam has no attic and our ceiling is our roof), but it got done, and willingly paid their share of our painter's invoice.
Basically they did everything we asked, and everything they said they would. It's been months, and so far, there's been rain, but no leaks. We got their warranty, and feel confident that if we ever have to use it, they won't shirk their responsibility. But I'm betting we won't have to use it. we've recommended to 3 people so far."

"Prior to and during the job, all looked and seemed to go well. Communication before and through-out the original job was good. i wasn't home at the time the work was performed and thus I did a visual inspection the next morning and noticed my vent had not been sealed as was included in the Scope of Work of the original estimate that was signed and accepted by me.
After bringing this concern to the attention of Glass, the Co-Owner, via an e-mail the next day, he advised he would check with his foreman (Goyo) to confirm and get back to me. Later that day, advised Goyo advised him the vent was definitely sealed.
Fast forward to mid-December and the heavy rains that lasted a week. Afterward, we noticed the exact leak reappeared below the vent inside the house. I then called and brought this to 's attention, and the following week he sent his estimator, Ed, to look at the leak and the vent issue. Ed took pictures and stated that from what he saw the vent was never sealed. Ed advised someone would be in touch.
About 2 weeks later (2/14/11) called to advise he would be stopping by the next day to seal around the vent before the next big storm that was anticipated shortly thereafter. Given I was out of town and my concern, he advised he would take pictures afterward from where he sealed and have e-mail to me. I never received the pictures...
On 3/10/11 following return from my trip, I did another visual inspection and noticed the vent still had not been sealed. I called and spoke with requesting the pictures that were to have been e-mailed, he then advised he scheduled Goyo to stop-by and seal the , and that he would have to follow with Goyo to get the pictures to me showing where he had sealed the vent. Since that date, I have e-mailed and left 5 messages for either or to call with no response.
I originally found this contractor from Angie's List and I find it disappointing and frustrating that I have to resort to detailing such a negative experience with this contractor in the hope that they will step-up and follow-through with their workmanship."

Prompt response to request for proposal. Co. representative was professional, informative and upfront during estimate process. They were able to schedule us fairly quickly. We were introduced to the people who would be on site on a daily basis. Everyone who came to our house seemed pleasant and courteous. The job took a little longer than originally estimated, but this was due to us (the homeowners) requesting additional services and changing the details of the original estimate slightly, which Advanced happily accommodated. There was a slight mishap that resulted in minor cosmetic damage to our home, but I was very pleased with the way this was handled and corrected.
A few basic things any homeowner should understand when taking on a project of this scope. A) There will be a lot of people/vehicles coming and going around your house. B) This is a messy process, more so if you elect (or have to) remove all existing roofing. C) As a homeowner you should take the responsibility to make yourself available to be on site, if at all possible, during the process.
As a result of the number of people vehicles coming and going and the demo process, the likelihood that a mishap or some sort of damage is done, as in our case, is unfortunate, but not always avoidable.
I believe the measure of a company and the people who run it, is how they deal with any problems that may arise. , the manager of our project, assed the situation, took responsibility and made it right. Further to his company's policy of not demanding payment until the job is done and the customer is satisfied, he extended that offer until such time as we were satisfied with the necessary minor repairs.

"It went horribly wrong. We initially contacted them in November 2010 for the repairs. They came out pretty quickly to take care of the leaky roof, but everything else took months to fix. When they finally returned to fix the interior where the leak was (2 months later) they did a bad patch up job. They didn't even use the same color paint to cover the ruined drywall. It took them another 2 months to come out to fix the fence. When they did they promised us that they would replace the broken pieces with treated and matching wood to the rest of the fence and would be back 2 days later to do it. A week later they came out and slapped up a piece of wood that is not the same type, color or finish as the rest of the fence. They also refused to fix the wood on the broken garage door, telling us we would have to pay $225 for that repair (a job that a handyman could do with a drill and a couple of screws for less then $50 most likely).
I would not recommend this contractor. Taking almost 5 months to fix problems that stemmed from their original workmanship and in the meantime not returning phone calls and being rude to the client proves them to be unprofessional."

"I received several quotes prior to selecting and was clearly the professional that I wanted handling this job. His attention to detail, thorough explanation, patience and general know how was impressive. 's team was also excellent. With all the rain we've received over the last 6 months I am certainly glad that I choose . Highly recommended.

"Booked an appointment with , and I called on the day of the appointment to confirm the appointment time. As we all do, I modified my weekday schedule to be available. 45 minutes after the scheduled time, I called and they admitted they were a "no-show." I imagine a better job came up for them, and they never called to cancel or reschedule with me. Flakey operator, and don't waste your time waiting for them."

"He is on time, he is informative, and he gave me the lowest price of anyone that I have spoke with. He also caught a problem that no one else had picked up on. I have decided to go with him for the work. "

"one of the best experiences I've had with a contractor of any type. ANR came to the house to do an estimate, sent the estimate a short while later and took great care to finish the work before any other rains hit. in fact, ANR mobilized a crew to get the job done in one day and cleaned up to make the place look better than it was when they started. At this point we couldn't be happier."

"I called them for an estimate for roof repairs. An appointment was schedule for 1 week later. I received a phone message the day before canceling the appointment. It said they had other jobs going and no one would be available for an estimate for a while."
