"The team at
designed and is building us the house of our dreams. We started with a 1700 square foot home built in 1947. The owner of the firm,
" , designed an amazing 3200 square foot, two story home that has really blown us away. From designs, to permitting, to framing, through plumbing and electrical,
has done an excellent job.
has guided us through the whole process, helping us make tons of decisions quickly and painlessly.
has been a great friend, has been extremely gracious and generous about change orders, and his team has done a first-rate job in every aspect of the job. His office staff is organized, professional and friendly. His crew is responsible, clean and works fast and efficiently. We have already wholeheartedly recommended
to three close friends, and we will continue to recommend them to any friends who need an honest, hard working and extremely reliable contractor. They have far exceeded our expectations and we are so grateful that we selected them as our contractor.

"the job was quoted as taking three weeks and it got off with a bang. demo complete in a day. basic wiring and plumbing were held up for three days because of the need for a new drain" pipe in tub (from second floor) and a dedicated power line to breaker box. first inspection was completed quickly after which tub was installed and shower stall was cemented to prepare for tile. company avoids use of cement board under tile which is commendable. carpentry was required to reposition the tub and remove some wall insets to maximize the space of the room. about a week prior to job commencement date, we were able to contact
at y.s. design to begin talking about materials. tub and shower valve are necessary immediately since they must be installed in the early going but in that first meeting, at our house, we were able to pin down most of what we wanted since we had notes and pictures already as well as an able guide. other items were established in a subsequent house call.
is a very pleasant and enthusiastic guy. he lugs hundreds of pounds of catalogues around ranging from bathroom furniture to tile and everything in between. as the orders were determined, they started showing up often very early in the morning. trucks would park outside of our house on several occasions until 7 when delivery people were authorized to make drops. item selection was made extremely easy by this system (for those of us who do not get a big charge about laboring over bathroom outfitting). y.s. design has a relationship with
fittings in pasadena. we did comparison shopping on the internet and their deals were generally favorable. back in the bathroom, tile in shower and on floor went in. then toilet. walls were skim-coated, vanity and cabinet wall-hung, paint and poof!, it was beautiful! whoa, slow down. this is not to say that those who choose to remodel will not endure doses and doses of dust and will be consigned to constant cleaning thoughout the duration of the job and will, of course, be without the use of their facilities. if there is one thing that could be improved by any crew, it would be dust management. this is perhaps impossible... short version: we had use of the bathroom in fifth week of the job. not surprising because of extra work required. and it was impressive and beautiful. everything was done with care. the new location of the vanity covered a small portion of the h/vac duct which was originally covered by a stamped steel grate. solution was to cut down the grate and weld it into a 3/4 scale version complete with consistent border. very impressive. only issue was that as the job wound down and there was less and less to do by any tradesperson, the house calls became less reliable and further between. given the economics of this kind of business, which relies on maximizing work and schedules for its subcontractors, this was forgivable. it took a bit of nagging for information though.
, the project manager, was responsive and efficient. all workers were pleasant and business-like. company drops a port-potty on site. fixtures, tub and toilet and vanity were stock items and medium-priced. very pleased.

"I hired the
crew to replace a few windows and the main entry door at my apartment, since it was vandalized few weeks ago (
of living in" Hollywood)... The estimate was quick and concise, the crew was there on time and the whole job went very well. They patched up all of the walls and matched the paint so that I didn't have to repaint the whole living room, so I was pleasantly surprised with unexpected savings in regards to this. Overall, I'm very happy with the service and the no-nonsense approach. I would gladly recommend
for any jobs like this one.

This part of Don's answer follows my thoughts exactly:

"You want to deal with a professional person that is selling you a bath that was not working as a cashier a few months ago."

Do you go to the gracery store and ask for someone to cook your steak?  Of course not.  So why would you go to a building supply store and ask for someone to remodel your bathroom?  Rarely will you see a legitimate contractor take jobs from a retailer.  Why?  Because they don't pay much.  Speed is the most important thing to them, along with getting it done cheap so they can maximize profit.  About 10 years ago I worked on a few contracted structures (sheds, garages, etc.) from Home Depot.  They contracted to another company who then contracted people to build them.  At that time they paid a flat $250 for a contractor to pick up the supplies, build the structure on site, paint it, and use their own tools.  By the time the cost of a helper, fuel, tools, etc. was factored in there was nothing left for the contractor.  Anyway, the point I'm making is that the guy who will eventually show up to do the work will be so far down the line that everyone else has already taken the profits (Home Depot, ReBath, possibly someone else, and finally the guy working) that he probably isn't going to care what kind of job he does for you, quality or not.  He likely won't have much experience due to a high turnover rate and any experience he does have will probably be limited to his teachings at that job.  He probably can't answer any building code questions or identify other hazards once things are taken apart and he certainly won't do anything he doesn't have to while it is apart.

Another problem I've heard of repeatedly is that if (when) there is a problem there is always someone else you need to speak to.  You might have to talk to 4 or 5 different people before you can even get to someone that can address the problem.  Now multiply that due to having (at least) two separate companies involoved.  "You need to call ReBath."  "No, you need to call Home Depot."

You hire a general contractor for a reason.  We learn, understand, and keep up on building codes.  We are the one point of contact for all questions and issues on a project.  There is no manager in some other store, state, etc. to call.  You contract a GC and deal directly with that GC, or a site supervisor in some cases.  There isn't a huge chain of command to get through to reach the main decision maker for the business.  In a bathroom remodel you need someone who can do the plumbing, repair and/or move any electrical, install tile/flooring, drywall and paint, trim carpentry, and someone to coordinate all of that.  Sometimes you can find a qualified contractor to do all of those things and sometimes he will sub-contract out certain components (especially due to licensing laws) but you will always have that one definitive person to go to for any questions or issues.  A salesman in a store doesn't visit your home throughout the project to check on the status.  Even if he did, he likely wouldn't now what he is looking at.  The same goes for a retail manager.

Hire someone who specializes in taking care of your home.  Hire based on reputation & knowledge/experience.  You are right that not every customer can be happy so an occassional bad review can be found on just about any business.  Read the reviews, not the grades (they are always biased).  Look to see if the contractor attempted to rectify the problem, not ignore it.  Lastly, unless you want cheap, sloppy work and a whole heap of other troubles, don't hire based on a low price.

?
Hair spray is one of those things that is really bothersome.  We've run into this alot unfortunately.  And NOTHING we've found will actually clean it off.  The problem is that if you just paint over it, you still see shiny spots wherever the hairspray was.

Our companie's policy is to prime the area with any bonding primer.  This will seal the hairspray in and not let it affect the next coat of paint.  It would also be a good idea to lightly sand the area first.

Our recommendation for primer would be Zinsser's BIN Spray (red can) and can be bought at most paint stores or home improvement stores.  Other than that, any thing that specifically says "bonding" for a primer should be adequate enough.
?
What I always ask my customers regarding this question when remodeling bathrooms is how good they will be about maintaining and cleaning the new bathroom, especially when the old bathroom is obviously neglected.  If you are one of those people who wipes the glass down after a shower and cleans your bathroom every week or two you really don't need to spend the extra money.  If you are at the other end of the spectrum and clean it when it finally bothers you enough it may not be a bad investment.  I've had customer tell me they can tell a difference compared to their old glass without it and others say it made no difference at all.

Your basic rights and protections under law are probably outlined by your state and city's laws. In most states, the easiest way to look up your basic rights and privelges as a consumer would be to visit your state's attorney general website - you can usually find lots of great tips to protect yourself as a consumer there, too. Here's the National Association of Attorneys General's national listing, which includes a link to each state's attorney general website: http://www.naag.org/current-attorneys-general.php

Beyond those basic rights under the law, your expectations of a contractor during, on and after the completion of a job should be explicitly outlined in the estimate and contract. Although it can be a pain in the butt, ALWAYS read the estimate and/or contract before sign it! I cannot stress this enough - frequently the cause of someone's negative experiences with a contractor can be traced back to too few details in the contract.

We've covered contracts, and what you should expect to see in them, here: http://www.angieslist.com/contractor/signing-a-contract.htm

Good luck!

I was in need of a total remodel of my home. Home was built in 1978 and was in need for some upgrades. I contacted the office and made an appointment to meet up with the project manager,
Los Angeles Kitchen And Bath Remodelers Provider Name Locked
. He showed up the very next day on the dot, sat down and talked about the what I need to be done to my home. I started with replacing the old tile on the kitchen counter with granite top and had the entire refacing of the kitchen cabinets. The job was excellent, he even recommended me with choosing the back splash to match the granite and I was really impressed on how it turned out. With that, I went ahead and had the entire home done
Los Angeles Kitchen And Bath Remodelers Provider Name Locked
.
Had the popcorn ceiling scrapped , add recess lightings , wood floorings, carpets and paintings and a new AC unit installed. Basically, whatever you need for your home, he can do it. Its a one stop A-Z project done right. What I really like about dealing with this company is the people in the company are sincere, honest and best of all, they will take care of you. I would recommend this company to friends and families and would call them again if I ever need anything else.

When
Los Angeles Kitchen And Bath Remodelers Provider Name Locked
, owner of
Los Angeles Kitchen And Bath Remodelers Provider Name Locked
, came by to bid tile work in our new house, we knew he was the right guy for the job.
Los Angeles Kitchen And Bath Remodelers Provider Name Locked
explained how his experience and skill could make our vision a reality. Soon after the bid,
Los Angeles Kitchen And Bath Remodelers Provider Name Locked
was on the job. He was always punctual and polite. Working with him seemed like having a friend over doing the tiling, the difference being that
Los Angeles Kitchen And Bath Remodelers Provider Name Locked
and his crew are top-notch professionals at their trade.
First, in around 6 days,
Los Angeles Kitchen And Bath Remodelers Provider Name Locked
completely renovated our guest bathroom. This included lowering the shower
Los Angeles Kitchen And Bath Remodelers Provider Name Locked
floor to make for smooth uninterrupted transition to the shower,
Los Angeles Kitchen And Bath Remodelers Provider Name Locked
compliant for handicapped visitors, but also very sleek design-wise. The floor was slightly pitched for water flow, which was done so perfectly that I knew we had chosen the right tile-man for the job! The tile we chose was a natural stone green slate, a bit more challenging to install in the modern fashion we requested, but
Los Angeles Kitchen And Bath Remodelers Provider Name Locked
took his time choosing just the right tile for each location and resulting in an awesome shower area with 10' x 6' of tile on each wall.
Los Angeles Kitchen And Bath Remodelers Provider Name Locked
also installed a new toilet, shower heads, tub, and sink in the bathroom and they all look absolutely perfect.
Next,
Los Angeles Kitchen And Bath Remodelers Provider Name Locked
prepped our living room/great room area for 2x2 ceramic tiles in around 1000 sqft of total space. He listened to us carefully as we explained that we wanted a modern look and layout for the room and he delivered big time! The 1/16'' grout lines and seamless transitions between the tile and bamboo flooring he provided are just what we wanted and look fantastic.
After that, it was time for
Los Angeles Kitchen And Bath Remodelers Provider Name Locked
to work on installing our foyer area. We had purchased 1'x1' granite tiles and asked that they be shattered and placed in a mosaic pattern in the entry area. This was truly impressive to watch as
Los Angeles Kitchen And Bath Remodelers Provider Name Locked
broke and placed each individual piece in the pattern. I was watching over like a hawk and he graciously asked for my opinion throughout the process, even thanking me for giving him the opportunity to do such creative tile work, which he clearly enjoys doing and is exceptional at. The outcome is custom tile work of the highest quality.
The last project that
Los Angeles Kitchen And Bath Remodelers Provider Name Locked
performed was another complete remodel in our master bath. The work was similar to the guest bath, but the tile continues throughout the whole room. This entailed about 10 days of tiling and a few more finishing. The room is now so impressive, with bright white tiles from floor-to-ceiling. The space required about 500sqft of tile...it looks like a 5-star hotel. The shower
Los Angeles Kitchen And Bath Remodelers Provider Name Locked
area was laid with river rock pebbles that are so soothing to stand on in the shower. Through the job
Los Angeles Kitchen And Bath Remodelers Provider Name Locked
was like a machine, focused on delivering the finest install possible.
Throughout all of this work,
Los Angeles Kitchen And Bath Remodelers Provider Name Locked
was always beyond helpful, respectful, professional, and
Los Angeles Kitchen And Bath Remodelers Provider Name Locked
. He was on-time, maintained a clean workspace, was conscientious about not wasting materials or tracking debris into other parts of the house. There were plenty of times when he worked well into the evening in order to finish a stage of the job in our best interest without even thinking twice. He is a man of his word and a talented tradesman.
I can't say enough good things about this company and its owner. I feel like I should have paid much more for such a pleasant and stress-free experience as well as the remarkable resulting work. You will not be disappointed if
Los Angeles Kitchen And Bath Remodelers Provider Name Locked
handles any of your tiling!

I made an appointment with this provider to send out one of his
contractors to give me an estimate on a bathroom remodel and some other
misc. repairs. He acted like he did not want to do the work since I had a
lower budget of $4000 - $5000 - I guess this company only caters to
the very rich. I tried to call them to confirm the appointment that
morning and could get no response after leaving several messages. I went
to the house and waited several hours but the contractor did NOT show
up! I would NOT recommend this company to anyone, unless you are very
rich they will blow you off!

Let’s get the easy part out of the way.
Los Angeles Kitchen And Bath Remodelers Provider Name Locked
was terrific.
Our project was a 50 year-old bathroom that we wanted to bring into the 21st century and improve functionality. We had never taken on a project of this size or scope before but were smart enough to know that we didn’t know what we were doing. My wife and I have had a mixed bag of experience with contractors over the years. (Some very good, some just “eh,” others down right criminally negligent.) We were not enthusiastic participants and had to be dragged to the process. From the start, Southwest answered our myriad of questions with enthusiasm and encouragement.
None of the work we previously did had required more than one or two tradesmen to accomplish. A bathroom remodel requires demo, framing, electrical, plumbing, tile work, carpentry, and painting. Unless you have a crystal clear idea what your layout will be or have architectural drawings, you will need someone to bring fresh design ideas and flexibility to the table.
Los Angeles Kitchen And Bath Remodelers Provider Name Locked
and his team did just that. They gave us multiple choices and suggestions and changed direction on the fly - without haggling over dreaded “change order” charges and
Los Angeles Kitchen And Bath Remodelers Provider Name Locked
haggling.
The finished product is way more than we were hoping for. In fact, it is drop-dead gorgeous. We are kicking ourselves that we didn’t do this years ago and are looking forward to working with them again on several other much delayed projects.
If your project includes multi-disciplinary talents with a great deal of coordination, these folks should be one of your first calls. Next to the actual quality of the work performed, communication should be at the top of your requirements. We can’t imagine working with anyone who would be as on top of it as they were.
Los Angeles Kitchen And Bath Remodelers Provider Name Locked
, one of the owners, was at the job site almost daily and was in constant contact either by text or phone.
Were there some issues? Sure. None of them major and all of them fixed to our satisfaction.
Los Angeles Kitchen And Bath Remodelers Provider Name Locked
was never satisfied until we were satisfied. Did it take longer than first anticipated? Yes, but most delays were self-inflicted or due to external forces. (I’m looking at you City of LA building inspectors!) Were they cheap? No, but they more than made up for up with their value-added approach and guidance. (Really, would you want to go with the cheapest physician/accountant/lawyer or one that you trusted was putting your interests first.)

Excellent, professional and cost efficient. I worked with
Los Angeles Kitchen And Bath Remodelers Provider Name Locked
on my parent's home, I was tasked with soliciting quotes for several renovation for their room addition. I contacted five contractors. one of whom was
Los Angeles Kitchen And Bath Remodelers Provider Name Locked
from
Los Angeles Kitchen And Bath Remodelers Provider Name Locked
. He was early to our consultation, polite and very professional.
Los Angeles Kitchen And Bath Remodelers Provider Name Locked
was extremely focused on our needs and was able to suggest cost efficient solutions to some of our concerns. To my surprise
Los Angeles Kitchen And Bath Remodelers Provider Name Locked
's quote was the most sensible quote. This was especially surprising given that
Los Angeles Kitchen And Bath Remodelers Provider Name Locked
's quote included higher end materials. Pretty unheard of.
I've always heard of Construction horror stories; delays and companies going over budget. I stressed to
Los Angeles Kitchen And Bath Remodelers Provider Name Locked
that my parents needed to everything to be on budget and he managed to do that for us. The room addition was built where the backyard patio once was, my parents wanted to expand their entertaining area in a sophisticated way; we've seen some really cheap room additions in the past and were so happy that ours is not one of them! We choose a really chic gray wood and recessed lighting that
Los Angeles Kitchen And Bath Remodelers Provider Name Locked
suggested and rounded doorways and beautiful french doors that lead out to the backyard. We were so happy with the results from the room addition that we decided to add a small bathroom into the new room as well. Our entire family and extended family are extremely pleased with the quality of
Los Angeles Kitchen And Bath Remodelers Provider Name Locked
and teams work and appreciated the fact that he finished the project in the time fame that was given to us, and the fact that there was no over runs in budget. The guys cleaned up the job after every working day which is very important to us because my father suffers from asthma and the dust would bother his breathing I'd highly recommend
Los Angeles Kitchen And Bath Remodelers Provider Name Locked
to anyone and we will be engaging with them for other renovations in our home.
thanks guys!
