When I called him, he seemed surprised that we had an appointment but covered by saying he was running late. "The first heater had appeared to not have been in use for at least 10 years. The technician cleaned the dust and cobwebs from the vent and verified everything was in working order. He was very thorough and very knowledgeable. He was training a new technician so it was interesting listening in on the training. He was unhappy with how the generator hung ...more a little loose and used bolts to firm it up. He checked each part and deemed the unit safe and in good working order. The pilot light of the second heater would not stay lit. Within a few minutes he diagnosed it as a bad PG9 generator--luckily only a $39 part. At the same time, he noted that the gas line should be replaced with a flex line to be earthquake safe. He did not have a flex gas line with him, but I ran to the hardware store and he installed the one I bought. Again he was very thorough, checking each part and again going on the roof to clean the entire vent. I couldn't be more impressed with his knowledge of both units. He fixed both, with no suggestion that they should be replaced. He explained everything he was doing and had a real positive attitude."

I had been trying to get my husband to come with me to pick up some large heavy bags of soil but he was always too busy.
