The dishwasher problem ended up being a clog that was leaving a little bit of water at the bottom of the dishwasher. After a clean-out, it was about $70.
Lastly, the gas burners were low on my other
Even though it was raining, the day of the pick up, the driver arrived right on schedule. introduced himself and his co-worker, explained that they had a $95 minimum and showed me an estimate after he'd looked over all the stuff that my husband had piled in the driveway. The amount sounded reasonable so I gave the go ahead.
I purchased a voucher for $75.00, and the driver said that was for $158.00, or 1/ 8 load. I said I believed the deal was for more, than that, and had looked like great deal more than what he showed me on their price sheet. He assured me this was the case, and I had no choice but to believe him. They removed a roof antenna, six boards, two plastic saw horses, one sink without the base, 8 mops/brooms, a plastic indoor trashcan, debris from under a bench, one piece of construction debris - six feet by 8 inches by 1 inch, and a headboard.
After they left, I looked at the voucher on line, and it only listed the $75 I had paid. I looked at Angie's List, but could not find the original listing. Finally, I found the original email from Angie's List in my old emails. That listing, dated November 4, 2013, did indeed show the purchase was $75. for a value of $225. and the illustration showed probably five times the amount of items that they would remove. Had the picture the driver shown me as an example of what they would remove for my 1 /8 load been on the illustration, I would never have spent the $75.
The driver, Saoul, did say they could remove it all for an additional cost. I was so dismayed by this up sell, that I declined.
The one positive note was that two men were very nice, polite, neat and personable.
What I find interesting is that they were scheduled to arrive between noon and 2pm. I called, and was told it would be closer to 1:30. Then, we spoke again and I was told it would between 2:30 and 3pm. They explained they had gotten a bigger load than anticipated, and that they'd had to go to the dump. That hints to me that others had also expected the 1/8 load to be what the Angie's list illustration showed, and when they said it was a 1/8 load, that is the time the dispatcher had alloted to each job.
