Door Installation reviews in Los Angeles
Initially it was great - but when they secured the job and received the deposit, things went down hill quickly. The main problem with Exodus was they chopped up the duties so much that when we had problems (scheduling, product defect, installation problem, workmanship, etc), the crew kept pushing responsibilities to the next guy.
Here's the individual review:
The salesperson: we felt his main job was simply pitch the work, but once the deal is complete, he became unresponsive. Though he apologized, the responsive-
The Coordinator: the person we originally dealt with was let go, so we were told. Exodus claims that most of our scheduling issue, missed appointment date, and continuous postponement of the job was due to this person. However, the new coordinator we felt was no better. Since we were thrice-delayed and about a month late for the installation, we felt it'd be nice for them to compensate and bump us up the queue. It's after arguing and complaining to the highest level of the company for us to get a somewhat reasonable new date for installation.
The installers: nice guys, but they had to read and re-read instructions in order to get the door installed, and were having trouble to get the necessary components (door arms, etc) installed properly. I had to check in myself and point out various requirements and issues for them to adjust. In terms of the door arms and door slam issues, these guys are claiming it's due to the strong wind in our neighborhood.
The Supervisor: the most competent of the crew, fairly responsive. But we had to call the company in order for him to come out to inspect the finished work plus inspecting door arms problem (inspection was part of the contract). Once on site, he seems eager to leave. He did a bit of adjustment, and convinced us that the door arms was functioning properly, and once again claims the door slam issue is due to the strong wind in our neighborhood.
The door arms installed by Exodus turned out to be defective. After living with it for a few weeks, we suspect something is indeed wrong with the door arms. We had our trusted locksmith to come by (Advance Lock & Key, on Lincoln Bl - these guys are amazing), and they confirmed it. Instead of playing phone tag with Exodus and being told once again "the doors are functioning properly", the
Of course, Exodus now claims we did our own modification, so we are not entitled to refund. We have the old door arms, and they can take them back to see for themselves. But they took the cheap way out.
We think it's the fact that we are just a small job for the long distance (we are in West LA), that's the reason we've been treated this way.
In early fall 2013, we initially hired SOD to stucco our entire house. We asked for smooth stucco and were advised the issues that will crop up with this type of stucco. I understood and decided to follow through and live with it. Few weeks later, it was done, on time on budget. The stucco job looks fantastic and I now have a brand new house. Because we was happy and satisfied with the project, we decided to let them fix all the other crap work that was done by my previous contractors. It’s now January 2014 and they have methodically and continuously been doing work on our house. We have them scheduled to renovate our eye-sore of a backyard.
We FINALLY retained 1 contractor! It’s the first time in 5 years, a contractor has exceeded our expectations. What started off as 1 job has evolved into several small construction/renovation projects.
Liran, our project manager, has been/is amazing. He’s very knowledgeable, very attentive to detail, and is incredibly responsive. More importantly, he’s patient and listens; making sure to explain and provide options/suggestions, and any limitations to our wishes/needs. He’s also efficient and respectable.
Everyone we've interacted with from SOD, are professional, hard working , trustworthy, and courteous. They do what they can to make our home renovations run smoothly. They always clean up after themselves after a days work. SOD has been, and continues to be a dependable, excellent company that strives to be fair and does exceptional work. While they are not the cheapest bid, the cost is worth it. We WILL continue hiring them for additional projects in the near future. We highly recommend SOD for your construction/renovation project!
THANK YOU SOD, especially Liran, for continuous making our home, a happy home!”
When we started the kitchen we noticed that if we took down another major load barring wall it would open the floor plan tremendously but we were concerned that it might effect the roof line, but again
The tile job in the bathroom was beautiful including a radiant heated floor. We couldn't find a vanity that excited us so
I could go on and on about the good this company has done for us.
We are happy because they did a great job. They Came out and gave us and estimate made things
All their crews were very punctual and did an exceptional job. The work was performed with craftsmanlike skills. It is great to know a company who can deliver a such great service at such great prices!
don't waist your time going to a contractor who doesn't respect you or your decisions, call
We agreed to the terms +/- some changes and the third meeting was for contract approval and we signed it. We felt that about what needed to be done, and while the numbers were in line with out budget, we also liked how
From the get-go we were introduced to all workers and subs, and to some we were even given the numbers. The workers came in and knew what they needed to do, and in all but one case, they completed their jobs without issues. The only issue was the A/C contractor who had to move a vent in the bathroom, he refused to do it because of asbestos concerns.
Aside from that, it progressed fluidly and without delay or stress. I had
Inspections had only one corrections, and it was done the same day. Most importantly. and the reason for this report is that the work came out very nice, and was truly stress free.
I am happy about this work, our decision to hire them and we hope to sell the house in a timely fashion now that it looks so much better.
We think we're the best, and we can prove it.
