Car Inspecting reviews in Los Angeles

We took my husband's 2004 VW GTI 1.8T to

after reading the positive reviews here, on VW Vortex and on Yelp.
The GTI was having hesitation problems under light to normal acceleration. The VW "Stealership" we took it to before

(Pacific Volkswagen) was too incompetent to find anything wrong (no surprise there). But
Los Angeles Motor Vehicle Inspection Provider Name Locked
found the problem (a vacuum leak on one of the many tiny intake hoses that caused the intercooler to fill with oil). They replaced the defective part, cleaned everything up, and had it done the next day. On top of that, the bill was lower than expected as well.
Ivo (the owner) is a total professional at what he does, and we have no problem recommending his shop to anyone who needs a reliable and trustworthy mechanic. Thanks again!

I came to this place specifically because it was highly rated on angieslist, my hope was I could find a non-niche auto repair shop that was fair in the

area (YA RIGHT!). So I have had a problem with my Cadillac's cooling system which I had pretty much narrowed down to 1 or 2 problems, I've done a fair amount of car work myself and am not a

when it comes to these kind of things, I know the fix is roughly $50-$70 in parts, and with the equipment they have might take an hour and a half to fix so guessing the standard $50-$80 an hour for labor I was expecting about $200-300 would be fair for everything.

I told them everything I knew about the problem that I was expecting to change the thermostat and/or the water pump, but that I had checked the hoses and radiator and knew those were not the problem. I was hoping that this wasnt the kind of place that takes you as some kind of rich

yuppie and would try and snake you, THATS EXACTLY THE KIND OF PLACE THIS IS.

I got a call the next morning. They said that they "think" the thermostat and waterpump need to be switched along with the hoses for $800!!! But that they may have to do more after that. So let me get this straight, I paid $46 for a diagnoses which you just regurgitated back everything I said to you, which also is a maybe to fix anything, and you wanted to fix hoses that don't need to be fixed, how much without the hoses? $588!!!I

subsequently looked up an online calculator to do this job in this zipcode and the high end was $510 (Low end $257)

so now im going to buy the parts myself take it up to a guy I know in pasadena (who gave me a free over the phone estimate, btw) and is charging me $100 for the job.I suppose if you like overpaying this is the place for you

I have been using them for years for another vehicle that I own that has 218,000 miles on it, which is still going strong. They have always been on time and accurate in their diagnosis. Their prices have always been reasonable. They definitely know what they're doing. They're very reliable. They basically keep cars running forever.

This is my 3rd
Los Angeles Motor Vehicle Inspection Provider Name Locked
that I have brought to them for service over a period of 15 years and I have been satisfied. I virtually never have to have work redone and they do the little things that independent places don't do. Yes, they tend to be expensive, but I feel I get what I pay for. This service went perfect, and as usual when I got home, I checked under the hood to make sure the oil was changed and everything was OK. I have been very satisfied with SM

When I arrived at the station to have my car inspected I was surprised to be met by a woman,
Los Angeles Motor Vehicle Inspection Provider Name Locked
Cook, the owner. She was extremely knowledgeable and friendly. I was surprised to learn that the station has been there since 1972! This is a drive-through station, and there was no waiting at all. The

check was done very quickly and efficiently, and the service even includes a free self service car wash, that I found to be fun. I was surprised at how fast it all went. I left with my certificate and a shiny car! I will definitely come back again next time my car needs to be

I used them based on report in Angie's List saying they were honest and did good work. I second that endorsement. They were honest, fast and they did a good job. I will definitely be going back to them.

I called in advance. I mentioned internet ad at shop's website.
Staffed by one man. He greeted me and gave me a service form to complete, collected my key and my DMV form.
I gave him $40, cash.
I was the only customer at the moment, 4:30pm Friday afternoon.
The man finished the test (passed) in under ten minutes and answered my questions on how to report result to DMV.
No further salesmanship: I appreciated that very much.

I have used this smog station off and on for several years now. There are two bays. On several occassions, they operate only one bay at a time. However, when busy with multiple cars waiting, I have seen them operate both bays.
On Monday, 12/4/2012, I arrived at about 10:20 AM and had only one car ahead of me that was already being tested. Several minutes after I arrived, the technician began the testing on my vehicle. What I appreciated the most was he was concerned with treating my car delicately...careful opening (and closing) the hood of the car, going in and out of the vehicle driver seat, he carefully opened and closed the door, etc.
I was in and out of there in about fifteen minutes, about the quickest time I have experienced thus far. I also used a discount coupon that I had been given by them on my previous smog check on my second vehicle, for 20% off.
This location has never let me down or given me pause. I will definitely be using them in the future and recommend them as your place to get a smog check.
