"My experience with
was fantastic; definitely an A +. I had contacted A Place for Mom initially which I found out was a competitor to them," but glad that I decided to utilize
instead. I learned that A Place for Mom was a national company, where as
only focuses in the DFW area and had the personal touch that I needed. They were compassionate, trustworthy and I could tell they were picky in the places that they would refer me to tour. They made this process so much easier for me by narrowing down the
to 2 places for me to tour, taught me things to ask when touring that I would have never thought about and helped me with negotiating the rates which saved me $1,800 over the first year.

"Terrible! Rehab unit of 24 beds has staffing of 2 RNs, 2 CMAs and 6 Aides. Sounds good until you realize that all the patients need help toileting, and many are" incontinent, or close to it. The result is that patients end up wetting their pants waiting for help. Activities look good on paper, but seldom materialize. One of the physical therapists was very condescending to both my mother and our family. I had to often remind Staff that my mother is an adult who had been living independently until her fall. Communication was always instigated by me. No one mentioned that my Mom had significant rectal bleeding that required medical intervention. I found her bloody clothes when I did her laundry. No one told me that mom cried every time the hateful speech therapist came in - her room mate told me. No communication about PT goals, or even that mom was getting speech therapy- both unneeded and unwanted, since the therapist brought mom to tears. Cleanliness - it's tough in any institution, but one of my mother's room mates was incontinent, with significant dementia. Because she played with the faces, it took 3 aides to clean her up. Then my mother would be unable to use the toilet until the entire shared bath was cleaned again. This was repeated several times each day. It's a tough job, and I saw a lot of good, but there were serious lapses, most which came down to lack of staffing.

Assisted living

Assisted living facilities provide care for people who aren't able to live on their own but who don't require the kind of care found in a hospital or full-time retirement home. Facilities vary significantly in quality and price.

She started staying there in January of 2010, I took her out in August of 2014. I was shocked to find out they do not provide security. A lot of the patients have alztimers, My aunt had her

coat stolen. Another attended had a 10,000 dollar tennis braclet stolen as well. They did not do any cleaning in her apartment, when we removed her furniture the carpet was white, because of so much dust collection. In five years, the entire time she was there, it had not been cleaned. They were charging in between 5 and 6 thousand dollars a month for the care. I complained to a company that takes the complaints, they closed the case without informing me. People should know what kind of facility they are putting their loved ones in before doing so.

On its face, it was a nice facility, the therapy was good, the food was good. There was some dissatisfaction with response time when my mother-in-law needed tending. It seemed that some of the staff was quite dedicated, while others not so much. But my mother-in-law enjoyed her stay, for the most part. | |We ultimately had to find another facility because our 100 days of Medicare ran out, and

When unexpected health issues arose which caused a major change of plans, the staff was extremely supportive. Our loved one was cared for with compassion and dignity. We are forever grateful for the help and guidance provided.

Most of the residents are a little younger than my parent's so my stay there was a lot like a very long cruise with parents. The residents are really interesting people and have lead quite diverse lives. It's a excellent facility with lots of activities to engage the residents. Some of the residents have cars and there are field trips with the Juniper bus for movies, shopping, church or visits to other local sites of interest. The staff is great and the food is excellent and there is an

menu if you want something other than one of the two offerings at each meal. It's served by a wait staff in the

room and there are nice touches like cereal in the morning can be topped by bananas or berries depending on what is available.

Now a days I'm a volunteer one day a week doing technical support to help residents with iPads, PCs, smart phones etc. Most of the staff I knew from my stay is still there.

I am tremendously impressed with

and I strongly recommend it to anyone who is considering assisted living or a respite stay.

My mom moved into
Las Vegas Assisted Living Facilities Provider Name Locked
in Aug. of 2009 and transitioned very well, other than normal dementia issues. Over time her illness amplified into a lot of anger issues and ballistic behavior. The administration at Juniper was a Godsend, helping to steer us to the correct Doctor that found the proper medication that finally allowed my Mom to enjoy life and live in a calm normal manner. Juniper was a good family support system as well.

The staff and facility were wonderful. They worked with us to find a suitable room and provided a lot of support while moving her belongings into the community. Sadly, my MIL passed away the day she was to move in so I can not comment on care provided on a daily basis.
