" On 12/8/2014 I call this company because of the emblem of excellence shown on the face of the ad for this company in the Angie's List - December magazine" issue. So, I called the company for information & etc. The treatment I got was not good from 'the - get - go'. The female voice that answered was so low I had to ask her to "PLEASE speak
because I can't hear you". My request for her to speak
must have offended her, because there after her
of voice had a rude, condescending attitude during the length of the conversation. I held my temper to be able to finish with the information & service I was seeking. I explained that I must replace a washer door. She forwarded me to the parts/service desk. I was given a price for the part & placed the order. After the call, I was really infuriated how I had been treated & talked to as a new customer when talking to Customer Service
. I had not been rude nor was I condescending to the female call taker in any mean manner; I had just asked for her to speak up so I could hear her. About a half hour or so later when I had cooled down, I decided to call in to the company hoping to get the same person I had talked to once again. I didn't get her, but I told the person answering my call about the shoddy treatment I had received. There wasn't much else to say, the girl may have apologized, but I was so mad I don't remember what else was said. I believe that I made a third call to the company on the same day. I had forgotten to ask some information needed, because I was so upset the previous two times I had called. This time I believe I had gotten the original
I had spoken to the first time I had called the company. I asked for a cost-break down of the part ordered, cost for the installation/service call, sales tax, along with the discount of 10% for being a member of Angie's List. The girl seemed confused or she just couldn't do the math, because there was a pause, no answer so I may have asked if she was still on the line, but she wasn't answering me, no response, just silence. Then, all of a sudden another female was on the line saying that she had over heard her co-worker's conversation with me. I asked this person who she was; asked if she was the supervisor? The answer I got was, "yes", she was the 'Boss'. But, I also knew that this person was not who she said she was. A 'Boss" wouldn't have handled the situation in the manner she had done either. I knew that these girl's were just co-worker's covering for one another, I could tell by the
& manner of her voice. Finally I did get some of the details I wanted regarding the itemized costs & was told that I would receive an itemized invoice via e-mail. Later in the week I checked the e-mail inbox & unfortunately I couldn't retrieve the e-mail from the company due to the security system on my computer that blocks some incoming e-mails. So, I called the company again and asked the Customer Service Rep. to PLEASE mail me a copy of the invoice. I was assured that one would be mailed & I could expect it within so many days. Days went buy & no invoice in the mail. Days later I got a call from the company to set a date for the installation. A date was set & I asked the caller if she would PLEASE make sure a copy of the invoice would be sent along with the installer? She said, "Yes, she will make sure to do so". When the installer came I asked him if he had a copy of the invoice? He had a surprised look on his face when I asked this question. He said that he hadn't been given any invoice to bring along with him. I was livid, so I called the company & with cordial
of voice, I asked to speak to an office supervisor. This time I asked for the name of the office supervisor & was given the name,
. After a short pause, a woman came on the line & I asked her if she was "
, the 'Boss' ''. I was assured, by
, that she indeed was the 'Boss'. After the on-going games I wasn't too sure at this point.. I shared all of the above events with her. I told her that I was pretty displeased with the POOR Customer Service I had endured. I asked if she would mail me a copy of the invoice.
, listened to all I had to say & I appreciated her patience listening to my complaint. I asked her if she would PLEASE mail me a copy of the invoice I have been seeking. She said that I should receive a copy in the mail within a week. Time passed & still no invoice from the company. I called & asked for
. - Once again, the girl that answered my call talked in a miniature voice, I could barely hear her. It didn't seem that anything had changed with the manner in which calls are being answered .- When,
finally answered I let her know that I still have not received an invoice. She promised that she would personally send me a copy out in the mail that day.. WHEW! I finally received a copy a few days ago. Something is wrong with the personnel in that company's office. I hope the office manager cleans house or else this company could go under with the poor telephone skills & unprofessional attitude of the customer service personnel along with the type of game they played with me. I would like to use this company in the future, but if and when I do call again for service & am treated in the same manner, I'll spend my money somewhere else , there are a lot of appliance service company's in Las Vegas.

"tI purchased the $99 for $200 worth of work coupon. A technician was sent to my home the following day. I had to be at work, so my girlfriend stayed at the house" while the service was performed. The house needed minor plumbing repairs and a new replacement Reverse Osmosis (
) system installed under a new sink. The minor plumbing repairs included reconnecting a pop-up drain stop, stopping a valve from chattering (adjust pressure), stopping a faucet drip, and inspecting a water softener that was not working well. These are very
tasks and I would have done them myself, but I had a busy schedule and we had guests arriving in two days and I wanted to have the issues addressed. According to the technician and my girlfriend these repairs took less than 30 minutes to complete. After inspecting the water softener I spoke with the technician on the phone and he informed me that my system was old and undersized and need to be replaced. He offered to install a new one, but I told him no because I wanted to research the various types of water softeners first. He stressed how if he installed a new system now it would save me money. I had to tell him no at least three more times. What I did not know after talking to the technician on the phone was that he told my girlfriend that my $200 was used up in completing the minor repairs/inspection that took less than 30 minutes and that to install the
system would be an additional $175 plus $50 to tap out a knockout port on the new sink. She did not have a good understanding of the coupon or what was involved in the
system installation, so she agreed to pay the additional cost. The
system installation is not difficult and other purchasers (non-plumbers) of the system report it takes about an hour to complete. $50 for the single minute it takes to tap out a knockout port on the sink is ridiculous. The
technician completed the installation in 45 minutes. The bottom line is that we paid $324 for a supposed $425 worth of work that took less than an hour and a half. After hearing my girlfriend paid an additional $225, I called
and left a message with the receptionist. The technician called me later that day and with a condescending
repeatedly brought up the fact that my dishwasher was installed with a high water loop and not an above the sink air gap instead of addressing my question of why the $200 worth of work was expended in less than 30 minutes and I had to pay full price for the
system installation. The technician must have communicated my discontent because
called later that day and left a voicemail saying he thought the work done was worth $200 and that they charge by the job, not by time. When I received the voicemail I called back and left a message for
to call me again. He never did. I called the next day and again left a message for
to call me. He never did.

On this episode of Chat with the Experts, we talk with Chris Sublett of Vogel Appliance about how to care for your kitchen appliances this holiday season.

Angie's Answers

If the ducts are venting through a window I'm assuming the duct work is all easily accessible.  Lowe's and Home Depot sell a cleaning kit that uses an electric drill to spin the brush as it goes through the ductwork.  I've found it to work quite well and you can do it yourself.  It may take a few passes the first time to get everything out if it has been a while since it was last cleaned.  Just make sure you get all of the loose lint out after running the brush through from both ends and you're good to go.  Please note that if the line is not hard but rather a flex duct line you can easily puncture a whole in it with this kit and will do better to clean it by hand.

As stated above, it can vary between companies.

Typically just an inspection implies you do not have a contract or agreement that may include discounts or free repairs.

With our company you would get the annual maintenace service that you should do every year, and if repairs are needed, they are extra, but you aviod paying a "service call charge" that would be related to most repairs, because you are paying for the "inspection" and we are already on site.

Inspections are often discounted in the slow seasons, and can usually be found advertised , at reduced prices , on Angie's List.

So consider Angie's List and find the best of the best in HVAC contractors!

I have never seen one of this type that does not exit the house. You would not want the grease dumping into your basement, even with a filter it will happen.

The greater part of your job will be carpentry as if there is a wall behind the stove a hole will have to be cut up through the basement into the wall up to the stove. Unless it is one of the stoves that allows for it to fit inside a cabinet below. To answer correctly most here would be a picture of where this project is being done. I have done motorized ones that extend up out of the counter when in use and then retract. Those exit through the cabinet and require the cook top is to the front of the counter and not a drop in one

As an added note these tend to be better as they do not pull the heat away from the stove top when in use as much as the ones flush with the stove. I have install quite a few and happen to have an Amana cook top with built in down draft and I have to shut it of to get water to boil on the back burners.

A carpenter will know what can be cut and what not in the basement, a sheet metal contractor should know as well but at the other end for the finish by the stove they might not. Most carpenters that do kitchens have installed the minimal amount of duct work for this. They just have to be carefull with the number of ellbows and the lenght of the duct.

Appliance Repair reviews in Las Vegas

We received wonderful same-day service from
Las Vegas Appliance Repair Experts Provider Name Locked
. We were extremely pleased with how knowledgeable he was about our broken appliance. With the age of our washer he told us right up front that if it made more sense to replace the older unit rather than repair it, he'd let us know for the cost of the service call. Lucky for us, it simply needed a new $5
Las Vegas Appliance Repair Experts Provider Name Locked
switch. I plan on permanently entering
Las Vegas Appliance Repair Experts Provider Name Locked
's name, business (
Las Vegas Appliance Repair Experts Provider Name Locked
) and phone number into our rolodex so we can use him in the future for ALL of our appliance repairs. Give him a shot, you won't be disappointed... (and he was kind to our dog, which immediately earns TONS of points in our book!!).

HORRIBLE. Understanding there was a 4 hour window (10-2) I called at 10:30 to see if they knew where I was on the schedule so that I might run to the store if it was going to be a while. I was told that I was the technician's next call, so he should arrive within a half hour or so. A half hour came and went and I called back about noon and was told he was hung up at the original call, but would be to me shortly. At 1:35 I called back as there had been no contact from
Las Vegas Appliance Repair Experts Provider Name Locked
and I had been told I would receive a call 30 minutes prior to arrival. 30 minutes after 1:35 would have put them outside the FOUR HOUR window - I had waited all day for them - told twice that the technician was about to leave to come to me. They completely wasted my day, and I sit here with the same plumbing issues I had at the beginning of the day. The women on the phones were professional in demeanor, but they were flat out dishonest about the anticipated arrival time of the technician on 3 straight calls over three and a half hours. I really have to question all the positive reviews as they treated THIS Angie's List customer like garbage.

Las Vegas Appliance Repair Experts Provider Name Locked
quickly analyzed my problem. He was a sharp young man. I couldn't turn on my oven cleaning. Everything else worked. I thought it was the motor that locked the door when you turn on the self clean setting. It turned out a bar in the back of the oven that springs forward when the shelves are removed was stuck half way open. The cleaning cycle wouldn't start until the bar was fully forward. Even though he never worked on an Electrolux
Las Vegas Appliance Repair Experts Provider Name Locked
, he quickly diagnosed the problem and all was good.

I called
Las Vegas Appliance Repair Experts Provider Name Locked
to get an idea of costs to fix my refrigerator. They said they would not give estimates over the phone and needed to send a technician to diagnose and then give an estimate. The cost to send a technician is $49.95 and would be credited to the repair bill if I had them do the repairs. I said I would like a little more idea of what the cost might be as I did not want to spend $49.95 and find out they are going to charge a very high amount. The woman had me talk to
Las Vegas Appliance Repair Experts Provider Name Locked
and I told him the symptoms and he said if not major things are wrong probably $120 to $160. My refrigerator is only 3 years old so did not figure it would be major problems. I agreed to the service call and they sent a technician. After he diagnosed the problem he said it was a control board problem and would cost $320.00. That to me seemed extremely high so I told him I did not want them to fix it.
A friend gave me the name of another appliance repair company so I called them. Even though it was very late afternoon they came out to take a look. It was not a problem with the control board and they had the problem fixed quickly and charged me $85.00.
- Vernon R.

He repaired our Whirlpool fridge with an icemaker repair kit (the ice dispenser had broken). He also trouble-shooted the reverse-osmosis water filter and although he wasn't qualified to fix it suggested that it was the reason the fridge wasn't getting a proper water supply & recommended we consult a plumber.

They came out with in an hour. Surveyed the issue, wrote up an estimate ( which I thought was a little high but not sure). Because that it was the main line that had the leak, I was not comfortable in waiting, to pursue a second estimate. They went and purchased the items needed and did an excellent job.

I hired
Las Vegas Appliance Repair Experts Provider Name Locked
to send someone to put in a new garbage disposal.
Las Vegas Appliance Repair Experts Provider Name Locked
arrived and looked at our new garbage disposal unit. He said he
couldn't do the job because we needed to buy a new sink with four holes
to compete the job. So we bought a new 4-hole sink and called back and
rescheduled for the next morning.
He arrived on time (Sunday 12/21) with his son to do the work. The looked
at the sink again and said we didn't need that new sink since this one
had 4 holes. We later took the sink back for a refund. I wish he had double check before asking us to buy a new sink and then refund, because the sink is pretty heavy.
Las Vegas Appliance Repair Experts Provider Name Locked
looked at our new Waste King garbage disposal and said it wouldn't work
because it was a commercial unit and had a 2" pipe. He also said our
Waste King unit was "the best you could buy". He told us he could only
install a unit with 1.5" piping he said. We started reading the
installation guide and meanwhile he started installing his own inferior
unit which he was going to charge us $100 for. We showed him the
installation guide mentioned nothing about ours being a commercial unit
and in fact said it would fit in any residential sink with a plug. I
took the unit out and showed him with a measuring tape that the unit
worked with 1.5" pipes. Then he took off his unit and installed ours. He
didn't use the heavy-duty
Las Vegas Appliance Repair Experts Provider Name Locked
/flange that came with the unit but
used the existing, old one.
It didn't work. It was very loud and barely cut up a carrot that I dropped
in the drain.
Las Vegas Appliance Repair Experts Provider Name Locked
said it wasn't his problem because it was
'electrical' and began packing up to leave. We quickly read through the
installation guide (which he never looked at) which said to remove a
plastic plug. When asked if he removed the 'plug'
Las Vegas Appliance Repair Experts Provider Name Locked
brought some tools
back in and got back down under the sink and emerged with the plastic
After he left we discovered:1) The hot and cold water lines to the sink are switched and the faucet is crooked.2)
Our new dishwasher doesn't work. We bought it thought Lowe's and they
installed it less than 2 months ago. We have no problems with it. I ran a
load through and it didn't get the dishes clean for the first time.
Then I discovered it heats up but no water goes into the dishwasher unit. I hope I didn't harm it by
running a load with no water.
So we called
Las Vegas Appliance Repair Experts Provider Name Locked
and scheduled him to return at 9:00 am tomorrow (12/23). He fixed the faucet hot and cold water problem but after he left, we discovered he turned the faucet very loose so it would not line up, still crooked. We were just too fed up to call them back to fix it so we just left it the way it is.
We wrote an email to the company but they never returned our email. We also call the number to complain but they just tell me they are a dispatch service and there's no supervisor to talk to.
I would stay far far away from this company.
