" The contractors name is and his company is & Remodeling. This project started around August of 2010. A roofing and siding job that was supposed to take around 2 weeks to complete has turned into an 8 month nightmare that is still not complete. He has been giving me the run around for months and has now stopped taking my calls. He told me in the beginning, “I have never screwed anyone over a day in my life”. I have learned the hard way that he was lying.
Before he even started the new roof and new siding job, I paid him up front for all the materials so he could get started, which was understandable, assuming he would complete the job. It took him about 2 months to finish the roof, he would tell me everyday that he would be out the next day to work on it, and then he would never show and never call to give me his excuse for the day. After work I would get home to find nothing has been touched and would call him and ask him what is going on. He had an excuse each time I would ask this, one time he broke his foot, one time the materials flew off his truck, one time the materials were on back order, one time he had to move because his mother kicked him out, one time he had ‘issues’ with his children….the list of excuses goes on and on. I tried to be very patient with him and be very nice to him since he already had my money. I knew if I made him mad, he could just walk away at any given minute, which in the end he did anyway. Eventually he finished the roof, which made my skylight leak; we never had a problem with the skylight leaking before him. I asked if he would come and see why it was leaking and he said he would but never did. My husband had to go on the roof and fix it himself.
He started the siding job in the same manner as the roofing job, never showing or calling, always an excuse. He probably worked on it a total of 5 days over the course of 2 months. The siding job is still not completed and the contractor has stopped taking my calls. He already has my money for the materials that we have not gotten to finish the job, and I asked him to just please reimburses me for the materials and I will have someone else finish his work, but he never responds to my calls.
Now I am stuck with a partially sided house, a yard full of waste materials that he never cleaned up, and am out about $1,000 in materials that I already paid for and have never received.
I am writing this so nobody else will be screwed over by this man; he is untrustworthy and unreliable. We have a contract with him and he has not fulfilled his end of it and at this rate, never will. Please do not make the same mistake I did in hiring him for your contractor."

"1-11-11, Friday, I came home to find the crew lead working on the front stoop, wrapping it. I asked about the gutter and was told that it was fixed, that I had had it fixed and it was no longer a concern, even though he had asked about it. Also, the gutter over the front stoop was now leaking.
I called External Energy?s Office and asked to leave a message. When I hadn?t heard back before I thought the office closed for the weekend I called again and asked for Mr. ?s cell number.
Mr. returned the call and cutting me off, told me to simply call the office and have ?Angie? set up a work order for the items to be completed.
In fairness, the siding seems to be installed correctly, but the a lack of oversight and attention to detail was lacking.
My previous two interactions (within the last 12 months) with contractors were extraordinary in that, there were no surprises. I was fully informed as to what, when and where to expect actions to occur. If anything changed the owner informed me, checked on the crew and their work.
This organization does not instill any form of confidence in me from the initial stages of installation to the current condition. The job is not complete, as trim work has to be done on the corner pieces, the gutters replaced where damaged and remaining debris from the side of the house must be eliminated.
I hope to update this report on a positive note when everything is completed.
UPDATE 2/14/11: Mr. completed the job as he promised and followed up with installing new gutters across the front of the house, although this was not requested. He made a good faith effort to rectify the situation. The project of siding and insulation is completed with the installation of gutters today."

"Bill came to our home to provide an estimate for our remodel, and we instantly felt comfortable with Bill. He provided samples of his products, told us about his construction techniques and standards, and encouraged us to research the industry and compare other suppliers.
Bill's crew showed up promptly every morning and were very pleasant. As the construction progressed, I was given timely updates, suggestions for replacing outside lighting/house numbers/roof flashing, and my questions were professionally addressed.
Upon completion of the construction, Bill walked the exterior of our residence with us, and we were just amazed at the quality of the products and the installation. We have a new house again."

"They used a subcontractor to perform the work with daily visits from a rep. They did a very sloppy job installing the insulation board, using just their eye and a utility knife to make the cuts, so fit was very poor, with gaps around windows, doors and the of roofs and such, basically where ever they needed to cut a board there were gaps. So to my mind this extra of insulation was hardly worth the price I paid for it. Fit and finish of the siding was better but still some problems with it too. We experienced leaks in the siding on the front of the house and the rear of the house which they responded to and repaired. Hopefully there will be no more leaks."

"Extremely pleased with the whole experience. We were assured we didn't pay until we were completely satisfied... Unlike other remodeling projects we have done, we didn't have to worry. Job was done to perfection. No delays, great communication and price comparable to other companies. I would definitely recommend this company and their products to others."

"Spoke with Sales Manage at the Home Show. Scheduled home visit. Received bid from and another company I contacted. Selected . Scheduled work. Accompanied company owners and crew leader on walk through to make sure work was understood by all. Work was performed efficiently each workday and progress continued as expected. Crew worked so house was left each day protected against bad weather. Any wood that was found to be damaged from woodrot or prior termite activity was replaced. Area was cleaned up each evening and any old siding was removed from the site each day. Prior to new siding being installed, house was wrapped with Tyvec and taped appropriately. After new siding was installed, crew diligently caulked. The entire body of the house was spray painted and the trim on the front of the house was painted in a second color. During the work, one of the company owners visited the site several times. The crew took extra effort to make sure a couple of the areas of the house that needed some special attention received the necessary work so past problems would not again occur. The crew was professional and skilled. The owner performed a final inspection with me prior to final payment. We received all appropriate warranty papers. We are very pleased with the way our home looks and several of the neighbors commented on the new look and the quality work."

"Our sales presentation was done by Mr. Ganon, representing .
Among the questions we had for Mr. Ganon were:
#1: Do the screens fit tightly enough that our small house pets cannot excape?
Mr. Ganon assured us that the screens were very durable and tight fitting. His exact quote was, "You won't
have any worries with these windows and screens."
Reality: The windows had been installed less than FOUR days, when one of our pets (8 lbs.) pushed out a bedroom screen and escaped. The screens are so poorly made and fitted that there is up to a half-inch gap around the edges allowing insects into our home. Today, June 18, 2010, they installed the second set of screens and they are more poorly fitted than the originals. Now we are being told by an American Exterior executive, Mr. , that they have "fulfilled their contractural obligations".
#2: Does use their own installation employees or do they hire outside labor?
Mr. Ganon promised that all our work would be done by "highly trained American Exterior employees".
Reality: These "highly trained American Exterior employees" shot nails through the walls of our home and into the medicine cabinet in our bathroom. They also installed our porch light and flag holder with screws that were put into the vinyl siding ONLY -- not into studs. On Memorial Day our flag holder came off the side of the house and we noticed our porch light was dangling.
Truthfully, I don't know how this company stays in business.
When my husband tried to talk to management today, after seeing that the 2nd set of screens are worse than the first, all Mr. wanted to talk about was "legal responsibilities" and "court costs".
What do working people do when they trust their dollars to a company who fails to deliver and then tells the poor customer, "we have lived up to our contractural obligations"? Well, I have screens that are letting bugs into my home and I cannot raise the windows because my kittens are strong enough to push out the screens and escape.
Please, no matter what they promise, don't use . Come to my home and see the truth."

"The salesman Moody was professional and staightforward. The reason I keep going back to is that I feel I can trust what they are telling me, and this was no exception. The roofing crew were polite and worked very hard for pretty-much the whole day and did a very nice job. The foreman of the job was a pleasure to work with. He worked on figuring out how they would handle the siding/trim work that would take place once the roofing was finished while showing and explaining the situation to me every step of the way. The "handyman" who did the siding/trim work and installed the new soffit vents was also a pleasure to work with. I had gotten the siding/trim delivered ahead of time so that I could get them all painted up before they were put on the house. When got the trim pieces up he noticed that the color didn't match the rest of the trim. I had accidentally used the wrong paint. offered to repaint them if I could find the correct paint, which I did. He went above and beyond what I would have expected. The bottom line is that I, along with my whole neighborhood, was approached by another company that was offering a very good price. worked with me to get their price closer to what the other company was offering and while they couldn't match it, everything I've written above is why I chose to go with anyway. had already proven to me that they have good service and stand behind their work and so far this has been no exception."

"The project went fine. It would have been done sooner, but I had scheduled appointments on one day and the workers were delayed through no fault of theirs. Each day of work they arrived on time, took reasonable lunch breaks and cleared away materials at the end of each day. I am very pleased with their work."

"It was great. is very professional and has the customers best interest in mind. The work was done in a very timely manner. I would highly recommend. He can take on just about any project you have."
