I found
on Angie's list with good ratings. He came on-time for the first visit and provided estimate quickly. He also started and finished the work reasonably fast. His charges were very reasonable as compared to the other quotes, so I decided to hire him.
He did the work, but didn't provide professional touch (it was like he ran the marathon and gave up in the last mile!). One major issue was with the installation of brick veneer. I had ordered antique Chicago brick veneer for a wall.
installed half the bricks correctly, while the other half he installed backwards (so I lost all the features of the brick face!). The bad part was he never told me that he made a mistake! I found it out later...
Second issue I had with him was that he didn't clean-up his work area very well. At the end of the project, I was left with debris as
told me (just before leaving) that he doesn't clean the debris if the materials were not bought by him.
In general, he seemed to have good potential, but bad execution. If you want to hire him, please have all the terms written and agreed up-front (including minor details). This may help him deliver better job next time.

I've reviewed this company before and said I'd hire them again. In fact, I did. So why didn't we have
and his team do everything in one job? We had a small section of brick siding that extended into a wing wall that was falling down and hazardous. It needed to be addressed immediately, so
did. When he came to quote that in late winter, he pointed out some additional areas that would be wise for us as homeowners to address. However, because of budgeting, working with other contractors (to replace our front steps/sided areas of the house), and weather reliant timelines, we chose to only have him address the urgent area. He was thorough in his inspection of our masonry areas and offered honest feedback on what we needed to do.
QUOTING:
When I called him back to have him quote additional work, he maintained his stellar reputation. Although he had already inspected the exterior of our home for the earlier job, he repeated the inspection to verify nothing new had sprung up that we should address. He was prompt and fair in giving us a quote that was a good price. We only have brick on the front of our house, unless you include our chimney - I somehow managed to forget we had a chimney in the first bid process. So, while
was out double checking everything, I asked him to inspect the chimney. It's 35 years old and hasn't had any repair work done on it... ever.
gave us some options and added that to the scope.
We never considered asking anyone else for additional bids -
worked hard for our trust and we happily gave it to him. (NOTE: Typically on any job over $500, we select at least two companies to bid for the work. On the first masonry job we had,
was not the only person to bid, his prices and policies were HIGHLY competitive!)
SCHEDULING:
We fought some spring rain to get things scheduled and when his schedule opened up, we had planned to be out of town on vacation while they were doing the bulk of the work - there would be one day of additional minor clean up after we returned. Again, we trusted him and his team to care for our house like it was theirs.
was fine working without us there. We gave him a deposit on the project and agreed that if he needed anything, we'd be available via our cell phones.
WORK:
One part of the job required them to remove some bricks from the front of the house and rebuild some of it. When
ran into an unexpected area that wasn't well mortared or bricked in a
corner, he promptly called us, sent us photos, and requested direction while explaining the different options we had and how it impacted cost. We happily chose to go with a longer term solution that added more to the cost of the project.
Pulling into our drive way was like a mini version of Extreme Home Makeover! It was so exciting to see how nice everything looked! The front brick areas were repaired, the damaged bricks were gone, the mortar looked lovely. -I really find it impressive how well they match the mortar! They swept our driveway and front stairs. I haven't found a single nail, screw, chunk of mortar, or any evidence of their work in my yard/driveway/etc. They cleaned up after themselves like it was their home! There was a TINY patch of dust in the grass but not a single chunk of discarded mortar to trip over/run over with a mower.
OVERALL:
I cannot say enough positive things about
and his team. From their professionalism and cost, to their skill and cleanliness - they are my favorite company we've worked with on this house remodel. I think it's hugely important to operate a business with integrity and
demonstrated that every time I interacted with him. The only downside I can find with them is that they've done such quality work, we may never need to hire them again. Thanks for all the hard work!

Excellent job all the way around. They took photos to make sure the job was true to the original craftsmanship and meticulously rebuilt an to look like new. They also took care to color match the mortar so that the area blends in nicely with the excellent brick work of our

style home.
They also took care not to damage our bushes and did an excellent job of maintaining the job site and cleaning up.
I highly recommend

The work was incredible. We expected a recommendation to just tear the entire brick facing down and start from scratch because it was in such bad condition. Instead, they were able to repair the cracks, replace the fallen bricks, and clean up all the mortar.
The only negative I could give was the accidental cut into our driveway that one of the workers did and never let us know. Fortunately, the driveway needs to be replaced anyway.
Given that, we'd still use P&V Masonry again without hesitation!

The front stoop looks amazing! The front walkway looked really good at first but after 5 months it started settling again. This caused additional cracking and pulling of the brick from the concrete. I called
Kansas City Masonry Contractors Provider Name Locked
and he came out within the hour. He agreed to fix it that week at no additional charge. Our settling problem is a bigger issue due to the original concrete not being laid properly but
Kansas City Masonry Contractors Provider Name Locked
was super great about doing another patch for us.

I contacted 12 masonry/ brick and chimney repair companies from Angies List within a 25 mile radius of the job-site.
Out of 12 first page companies, only three submitted bids. The others made excuses, were too busy or recommended others.
A few of these companies did not want to come out to look at the project. Instead they asked me what was needed and so I described the
Kansas City Masonry Contractors Provider Name Locked
matter. They quoted $2k to $3k over the phone. Wow.
One company I spoke to recommended

The work was repaired in one day, as promised.

Some of the bricks were missing from the front corner of our house. Unfortunately the type of brick is no longer manufactured so
Kansas City Masonry Contractors Provider Name Locked
found a suitable replacement that matched the color, size and shape. He even managed to match the face of the new brick and mortar to the original style brick and mortar. He did and excellent job at a very fair price and after he was finished you couldn't tell the old from the new.

I left a voicemail for J.D. on a Friday morning and he immediately returned my call to setup an estimate for the next day, which was a Saturday. He was pleasant and professional and returned the estimate within a couple days. We were scheduled within about a week due to a cancellation and our project ended up taking a week to finish. He wrapped up on a Saturday to complete it.
J.D. and his employee,
Kansas City Masonry Contractors Provider Name Locked
, were incredibly personable and communicated well with us throughout the week. We discussed progress and questions daily and J.D. took extra time to try to ensure that our new mortar matched the old as closely as possible. The job site was cleaned up well when they were done and he seemed to have an incredible attention to detail as he stopped by one last time to check on our site and noticed that the bricks were showing some white spots again (we didn't notice without him mentioning it) so he is going to stop by again to clean and reseal it.
They even chatted with our 11-year-old
Kansas City Masonry Contractors Provider Name Locked
when he wanted to hang out with them. This was the third mason we've hired and we will hire J.D. any time we need brick work done going forward.

The quote was much higher (about double) than a comparable company that I found on Angie's list.
Everyone at
Kansas City Masonry Contractors Provider Name Locked
that I talked with was very nice and punctual. If I got a lower bid, I would consider using them.
