"It began great, he showed up for the estimate and was quoting about the same prices as the other estimates I had received. I chose his company because they were able to do more than just paint. The first problem came when I was not home on time from work one morning and they were accidentally locked out. I called when I got home (about 30 min after they normally arrived), was rude but originally said that they would turn around and come back. Then he called back and said he didn't even have the supplies he needed so he would start fresh the next day, yet still sounded angry. He confused the colors and painted the largest room in the house the wrong color and told me on the phone that there was no way he would have done that - it couldn't have been his fault, then I heard him rustling paper and he must have found the original estimate and saw his mistake. Then he apologized and said it would be fixed the next day. When he would give me a report of what would be done that day, when I would come home in the afternoon, that portion we discussed was never done. The work he did was professional - although the cracks (only had two) are back (he only has a two month guarantee on cracks) and he didn't account for the carpet when he originally cut the doors. When I asked if he could come back and trim up the doors he said he was busy for three weeks and could have someone else do it for $175. In my opinion that was his job that he didn't finish. When you go back to look at the interior doors that he installed (minus the handles, "it was not cost effective for him to install the handles") none of them are the same length. I would not recommend this company. If you do use them, be sure and ask how long a job will take. They do not work a full 8 hour day on any day. I work nights and ended up having to sleep at other people's houses for a good portion of 3 weeks and I was told on several occasions that they "work a half day today". It's frustrating when you re-arrange your schedule and ask others if you can sleep at their house for a couple days, much less three weeks. I was up against a deadline of going out of town and flooring guys were supposed to come in and do the floor before I left. Two weeks into the project I told him that everything needed to be completed by the next thursday, he said that was no problem. That thursday, he brought in an additional man to help finish the job, the flooring guys cancelled at 5pm and had the audacity to look at me and say, "I wish I would have known they were going to cancel, we could have worked a half day today." This was 48 hours before I was leaving. And just a side note - make sure they put lids on all the paint, I picked up the paint cans they left in the garage and one was knocked over, the lid fell off and paint spilled all over my garage floor. When I checked the other lids, 50% of the lids were not on tight - I could take the lids off with my fingers."

"They are very professional. They know what they are doing and do an excellent job. They are very good at color coordinating and they know how to recommend the proper color for the interior. They clean up very well and you never even know they were there. "

"Our walls had numerous faults from previous contractor botches as well as normal wear and tear. On first phone contact, sounded eager to help and promptly set up an appointment to see the house and give us an estimate. When the work was started, was extremely detail oriented. She sanded areas that were uneven and is a perfectionist making sure that everything was painted correctly and to her standards. If we had any questions about anything during the process was more than eager to make it right. , and treated our home with the same care they would their own and made sure that everything was completed to high standards. They became like family during the process. We now have a beautiful home. Thank you , , and ."

"A tree had broken the window in our garage door and hired him just to try him out because we had such a bad experience with the guy that did our driveway and sidewalk. We hired him on a trial basis and were so happy with the job he did and it was so inexpensive. He was so conscientious that we hired him back a number of times and it was almost we became addicted to him. We pretty much to redo our entire kitchen and paint our room and kitchen. The neat thing about him is that we have an older house that has a drop down ironing board and he asked us if have an iron and I said we ?t and he said I did think because most people ?t anymore. He said I see you cook a lot and I said I did and he asked me if I wanted him to make that into a rack and I asked him how much and he said $3. IT turned out amazing and he was really creative suggesting improvements, but not being pushy. He is such a down to earth guy and I felt real comfortable leaving him in my house and going out. I couldn?t be happier with him. He is not a licensed electrician, but I had a big hole in my kitchen from where the previous owners were. He put in like an installed microwave for me and sealed and trimmed the hole and put recess lightening in there and I paid about $100 for that. We employed him for almost 2 months. He doesn?t do tile and roofing, but almost anything else he does.

"He was always on time, courteous, professional and willing to offer suggestions that he thought would make a better finished product. I have never had a painter take the time to replace damaged lumber on the house prior to painting. The proof was in the pudding, I have not had to paint my house for 10 years with the exception of a few small areas that I have had to touch up myself as a result of the extreme City winters. Mr. does excellent work and goes above and beyond for his clients. He does outdoor painting projects from the middle of April until the end of October and he would need several weeks notice in advance prior to outdoor painting. He does indoor painting in the fall and winter.

" Bates runs a very talented crew of painters. They were always on time. They worked hard all day with minimal breaks so the project moved along very quickly (we all know how we want the project done but we don't want workers in our house) In fact I was very pleasantly surprised at the efficiency with which his team moved. In and out and cleaned up so well you would never have known that there had been a crew of workmen in my house...except for the beautifully painted walls and cabinets that they left behind. I'll never use anybody else."
