was extremely helpful in assessing our needs and goals for a security system. he sent a tech within a few days who was able to complete the order in a timely and courteous manner. everything was installed and functioned as promised. we were very pleased and would certainly recommend
to anyone on angie's list who is interested in a security system

I couldn't be happier. At first the monthly price point for monitoring made me hesitant but after doing an ROI on the overall system it turns out to be cheaper than the main competitors.
The system is so
to "install". Install is really not even the correct word. How about, plug in the base, set it on the counter (or mount it with 2
screws to the wall), place all your sensors were they belong using the extremely strong adhesive strips already on them, test the system with a
, short call to their initial setup service line and you are done.
I was done in 15 minutes from un-boxing to the final test call. I have 5 door sensors, 3 motion and 2 heat/fire/co sensors.
What's really amazing is how fast the system communicates via the cellular link up. I expected a 15 to 30 second delay at best. While on the phone with the agent while we tested each sensor, he could see that I opened a door in less than 10 seconds, usually 5 seconds at most. I have had a few false alarms when I forgot the motion sensors were on at night and they have called in less than 2 minutes every time.
I also really love the reminders I get on my phone when I travel outside my home "zone" (a one mile radius (can be set to a larger radius if need be)). My phone pops up a message saying I forgot to arm my system. All the reminders ("notifications") are customizable so you don't have to get them if you don't want.
Oh yeah, and the ability to assign separate codes to each member of the family or guest/temporary codes to service people is awesome. I can tell when my teenager gets home at night, etc.
Hope this helps!

The alarm service itself is fine, if not the cheapest available. My only complaints are with the contract terms and the company's business policies related to its contracts.
First, the company insists that you sign a five-year contract. In 2010, when I purchased my home, I offered to take over the remainder of the prior owner's contract so that I, as the current homeowner, would be the party obligated for the bill. One would think that this would be the preference of the company. When they sent me the contract, I had to argue with them at length that I had no intention of signing up for an additional five years but was only offering to take on liability for the remaining term of the prior owner's contract. They acted like I was an idiot for not wanting to lock in their rate for a longer period of time. Eventually I told them that I was sending them a contract for the remaining 2.5 years and that they could either keep it or throw it away and continue to bill my address under the prior owner's name.
Second, the company's service contract automatically renews for AN ENTIRE YEAR if you do not provide notice in advance of the termination date and the contract requires that notice be provided in the form of a signed letter. The company holds you to this contractual term if you miss the notice deadline, requiring payment of the entire additional year. So bascially, they make every effort to rope you in to a longer contract term than you would really desire. I find the termination provisions to be very unfriendly to the customer. If you do purchase service from this company I would suggest providing them the notice of termination immediately after having the service connected to avoid forgetting to provide the notice and losing the ability to decide whether to extend service after the initial contract term.

We got the name of
Kansas City Home Security Companies Provider Name Locked
from Angie's list. There was one review and it
was positive. During the process of purchasing the DSC (brand) system
from
Kansas City Home Security Companies Provider Name Locked
, we were told by the sales person (who eventually installed the
system) that there had been a lot of advancement in technology and the
new systems were much better, easier and allow for more control than our
17 year old Caddix Security system which had started to have
problems. The Caddix was a great system and the company who installed
it offered prompt response to any questions or repairs for 17 years.
They were somewhat expensive though and we decided to try
Kansas City Home Security Companies Provider Name Locked
.
My wife told the sales person from
Kansas City Home Security Companies Provider Name Locked
a brighter, more easy to read
display and being easy to use and adjust were important factors for us.
When the system was installed, the installer told us our old Caddix
keypads could be sold on Ebay for as much as a $100 a piece. He
suggested he take the three keypads and test them at his house to make
all three worked and then he would drop them back by to us. Their store
front is very close. We thought that was very nice of him to check
them for us. The salesman/installer was pleasant but seemed primarily
familiar with just one DSC model rather than other choices available.
We ended up upgrading to get a display with English read out which is
what we had before.
Our first evening with the system was
disappointing. We realized the display was no brighter or even as easy
to read as the Caddix. The volume of the chime was much lower than our
prior Caddix system and too low to hear except when in the vicinity of
one of the pads. Although the
Kansas City Home Security Companies Provider Name Locked
of the chime could be adjusted
roughly 20 ways, we could find no way to adjust the volume (which is
much more important). We attempted later that afternoon to call the sales
person/installer for help on the cell number he left for us to contact him. We
made several attempts to contact him, leaving messages over the next
week. When he did not respond to the messages, we started to try to
catch him by calling the store and finally reached him about a week
later. He said he would check the installation manual to see if there
was a way to adjust the volume and get back to us. He said he knew we
could add a separate chime unit if the volume of the pads could not be
adjusted. He also said he had not had a
Kansas City Home Security Companies Provider Name Locked
to check the old
keypads. He promised to get back to us.

After a few more weeks going into middle/late June, my wife contacted him at the
retail location and he said he was really busy and had not had a
Kansas City Home Security Companies Provider Name Locked
to
check whether the volume could be adjustable. He did mention possibly
getting a separate chime to add to the system but did not know the price
to add it. He said he had our old keypads at his desk but had been not
checked them out yet. He promised to get back to us as soon as he
could. On
Kansas City Home Security Companies Provider Name Locked
3rd, I called the store and the individual who installed
the system was not there. I talked to a woman at the store and
explained the situation. She apologized and said she would see him the
next day on the 4th and would make sure he got back to us. We waited but
never heard any response.
I made one attempt in late
Kansas City Home Security Companies Provider Name Locked
to reach the employee who installed the unit. He was not in
at the time and I never heard back from him. In early September, we received our
first quarterly alarm monitoring bill which was in excess of the amount
agreed to. My wife got a hold of the lady at the
Kansas City Home Security Companies Provider Name Locked
store I had
previously talked to and she said she would correct the bill. My wife
explained the situation saying we had never heard back from the
installer. She also requested the keypads just be returned to us at this
point. She promised to follow up with the salesman/installer and make
sure he got back to us. She did correct the monitoring billing but we
never heard back from
Kansas City Home Security Companies Provider Name Locked
.
At this point, over 4 months after
the install, we assume we will never hear back from the
Kansas City Home Security Companies Provider Name Locked
and that
they just are not going to follow up with us on our concerns. We
emailed a distributor of DSC about configuring the keypads for
additional volume but never heard back from them.

The installation was great but the very next day, the thermostat was not working as they described. We were unable to change the settings from the Go!Control Panel or the computer. When we called they walked us through fixing the connection and it worked fine for a day. The next day we had the same issue and when we called to schedule a service they could not come out on an evening or weekend for six weeks, therefore we had to take time off from work to have them come out and fix it. They fixed it and it worked correctly for two days then we had the same issue. We asked them just to take it out and they told us we would be charges because we exceeded the 3 day trial period. After speaking with multiple people, they finally agreed to remove the thermostat and not charge us. We kept the alarm system which works great! I really like how you are able to review when people come and go online. Very helpful when we have people coming to the house to do work.

exceptional service provided changing a keyed deadbolt to a latch turn. Especially appreciated was specific instructions- with warnings- for my reinstallation into the door (i had removed the lock to take to the shop.) Even provided extra long screws at no cost to make the strike plate more secure.

This was the single most awful purchasing experience of my life. The owner, Mr
Kansas City Home Security Companies Provider Name Locked
, would call us to try and get us to buy new equipment but we just wanted out of the contract. Then he would get mad and hang up on us. We felt like we should get a restraining order against him. A lawyer we hired informed us we would not be the first. Because of this company, a bill was put before the Missour House of Representatives (sponsored by a representative that had been an
Kansas City Home Security Companies Provider Name Locked
customer) to make it unlawful to enter into automatically renewing contracts unless the service provider sends out a notification that the contract will run out between 90 and 30 days before the end of a contract, so fortunately for others our experience will not be repeated. Unfortunately
Kansas City Home Security Companies Provider Name Locked
is still in business.

Because of a recent break-in at a neighbor's home I was anxious to have an alarm system installed before leaving for a vacation.
Kansas City Home Security Companies Provider Name Locked
worked me in so I could get an estimate ASAP so the work could be done before my trip. After discussing various alarm alternatives
Kansas City Home Security Companies Provider Name Locked
gave me a quote on the system that best suited my needs. I then set up an appointment and 2 installers came and installed the system and thoroughly tested it out. They gave me a basic lesson on how to use the system so I could set it before my vacation. The office staff was very helpful and gathered all the contact information they needed from me and sent me paperwork to confirm the information I gave to them.

The entire company rallied around our alarm services after suffering a lightning strike and house fire. Remaining contents in our home were secured by their quick response. The entire organization has gone above and beyond to patch the damaged system, installed temporary devices and plan for long-term security services. They deserve our strongest recommendation for future security services.
