Kansas City Foundation Repair Specialists Reviews

"Here's what I should have done: get an opinion from a structural engineer (which I did) and show the report to a bunch of foundation repair companies upfront (sometimes I showed it after they analyzed the situation and once I misplaced it and didn't show it at all). I also should have made appointments with the repair companies all at once, but I stretched it out and my house eventually got worse (it takes a few weeks to get an appointment). I gave the report ahead of time to the last company and the salesman pretty much agreed with the engineer (surprise!) and that's who I hired. Part of the reason I used PierMagic was because of the combination of interior and exterior piers they suggested, which saved a good portion of my landscaping, and avoided the need to tear down part of a decorative exterior brick wall which one other company said they probably would have to do. PierMagic also said they would haul any extra dirt from digging the interior holes in the basement floor and place it around my foundation to keep the

sloping away from the house, and that they would slap some concrete on the cracks in my basement wall and floor, since they would be mixing concrete to patch up the pier holes.
About five or six men showed up every day for five days. They were all polite and hard workers. I had a stairway into my basement from the garage, which was handy, and they also removed a basement window to haul pieces of the concrete floor and dirt out. It was a major operation. They put up big pieces of plastic as dust curtains, which helped, but by the end of the week, my floors were dustier than usual. They lifted the house in sections--that's something I wished I had asked the structural engineer about, because some companies do it all at once. One wall needed a little lift, and the other wall needed more. I had a large crack in the main floor foyer that closed up some, but not completely. I also had some cracks in the exterior brick which closed up vertically, but not horizontally and I'll have to hire someone to do tuckpointing. I had two major cracks in the basement floor and they drilled out the concrete around those and put new concrete in after the piers were in--that's something that wouldn't have happened if I had used all exterior piers. There also was a good amount of dirt they hauled up and spread around my bushes, which was a much appreciated extra service.
My only complaint is that a couple of the concrete patches on the basement floor were a little rough, and some hunks of concrete got into the drain hole near my furnace/humidifier, which I didn't notice until the job was over. I called the head worker several times with no response, but after I called the salesman back, somebody came right out and ran a snake down the hole and fixed it.

"I am a Realtor, I recommended Spartan to my clients. They had Spartan come out for an estimate. In the meantime there was a member's coupon on Angie's list, so I bought it and provided it to my clients. Spartan honored the coupon and did a great job with my elderly clients. Will recommend them to others.

"From the receptionist, to the estimate, to work performed, I couldn't be happier. By the time we had
Kansas City Foundation Repair Specialists Provider Name Locked
come out for a bid, we had already had estimates from four other foundation repair companies. It took about two weeks to get someone to come out to give us an estimate, which wasn't a big deal for us.
Kansas City Foundation Repair Specialists Provider Name Locked
was the technician that reviewed the area and gave us our bid. From the start, we could tell that he was knowledgeable and not just repeating some script from the GM. He reviewed the area and explained the technicalities of why he thought certain things where needed, and didn't try to oversell(like so many other companies!) He answered our questions professionally. He even extended a 10% discount if we booked the same day. By that time we were ready to make a decision and
Kansas City Foundation Repair Specialists Provider Name Locked
was the best deal for reasons more than just the sticker price. The receptionist,

, was fantastic through the whole process, and was able to get us on the schedule earlier than expected due to a cancellation. The foreman, Jairo, was professional and his crew were extremely hard working and respected my property. Jairo took the time to explain the process and what we could expect in the future due to the repair. The GM even came out to assess progress and answer questions. We were surprised that he did because we didn't have any issues or complaints with anything. Excellent experience!

"I called back the week of Thanksgiving as I was in town and explained I would be there for a few days and would like to get the quote even though they never followed up from my previous request. They took my info and never called me again. HORRIFIC customer service. Apparently their business is so booming they don't need to offer common courtesy. Sadly, Advantage Mud Jacking acted the exact same way. Called twice and they never followed up with me. Really horrible way to do business.

"We were very pleased. While we are not structural engineers

explained exactly what he was doing and showed us that he was following the engineers recommendations to the letter as far as the scope of the work that was needed. While I hope to never have to do this kind of work again I would hire

"The job was done in a timely manner and they were very professional. My issue was not with the services when they were performed, but how the product has not held up. We are already noticing the walkway sinking again and where they fixed cracks in the concrete with filler, it as already cracked more. For the amount of money we spent, I would have liked a product that actually held up that we would not have to replace again. A little over year later we are talking about replacing the entire slab of concrete.

"Representative showed up 15 min before scheduled appointment time. Spent some time telling me about the company and his personal sales experience before we went to look at the problem areas. Very chatty throughout the visit, asking where we are from, where my husband and I met, where our parents live, where we went to school, etc, etc. Felt very "sales" rather than diagnostic. Checked out both areas of basement/garage as well as a nearby window well not currently leaking but probably will in the future if not addressed. Came back upstairs and he worked up the plan, and spent more time going through a binder explaining all their patented inventions and processes with catchy names. Spent more effort than I cared for assuring me that they don't hire guys "who just got here from the
Kansas City Foundation Repair Specialists Provider Name Locked
valley." Then "So if I can give you the right price on this, when were you wanting to have work done?" This was our first of three estimates so we have NO idea how much this is going to cost, which will play a big factor in when we decide to do it. Representative immediately starts talking up their financing plan, while I still have no idea what the number is we're even talking about. Finally get the estimate "And if you were willing to schedule it soon, I can give you a discount on it." "How much is that discount going to be?" "Can't tell you, that's the incentive to schedule." I told him that was ridiculous and asked how I was to compare our various estimates without knowing the full picture. "Well, are you choosing on price or on who has the best plan? Because we have the best plan, but you don't know that yet since you haven't had anyone else out." Finally when pressed he did say it would be 5-10% off.
He asked if he could call me on Monday the 25th since our last estimate was Friday the 22nd. Called Saturday the 23rd and got offended when I told him we were probably putting the work off but wouldn't be using them. When I gave a few examples of the sales tactics that I was put off by I felt like he tried to argue with me to say that I shouldn't feel that way and that he's only saying what he is told to say- I totally agree on the last part, after reading other reviews and talking to a friend who had DB work on their foundation this is just the sort of tactic they use. He did say that the reason he hadn't been able to quote the specific discount was that it was part of a winter sale that hadn't officially started yet at the time so he didn't know exactly what it would be. That certainly may be true, but was not the way it was put to me at the time.
Of the three estimates we had done,
Kansas City Foundation Repair Specialists Provider Name Locked
was the only company who's representative did not ask whether we have doors upstairs that don't open and close properly. The other two were interested in checking upstairs to see any drywall cracks we might have,
Kansas City Foundation Repair Specialists Provider Name Locked
did not inquire about that. Both the others took some foundation measurements, one with an electronic device to check the elevation at various places around the main floor, one used a plumb-

to measure various points along the foundation wall in the basement.
Kansas City Foundation Repair Specialists Provider Name Locked
rep measured the length of the walls affected to come up with "28 feet of our No Water System." We got the distinct impression they're more interested in selling the system (and their basement remodeling service- which was talked up even though I had made clear that we wouldn't ever be finishing this basement. "Something to keep in mind for your next house.") than in diagnosing the actual problem. They try to make you feel nervous about other companies by giving you a website where you can look up legal action against other companies and he showed me a sheet printed out from there with all pending legal action against one of their competitors.

"My repairs were very extensive.
Kansas City Foundation Repair Specialists Provider Name Locked
, the field representative was very helpful and made several trips to meet with me and discuss what needed to be done and how it would be completed before I signed a contract. The original estimate was that it would take approx. one week to complete but do to several obstacles that came up during their work, it did take approx. 2.5 weeks to complete. I was kept informed all along the way by the foreman, Odie, as to the stage of completion, what was still to be done and any problems that they were faced with. Odie and his crew were very hard working and tried to keep my disruptions to a minimum.
Kansas City Foundation Repair Specialists Provider Name Locked
, the owner came out on their last day of work to talk to me about the job and to make sure I was satisfied. There was one area of landscaping that I was told would not have to be destroyed, but was.
Kansas City Foundation Repair Specialists Provider Name Locked
has been working with me to make it right and he has stated that his goal is to make sure that they honor what I was told would be done and to make sure that the repairs were completed to my satisfaction. While there were obstacles that surfaced, the company did not increase the cost of my repairs and the original estimate held.
Kansas City Foundation Repair Specialists Provider Name Locked
is still working to complete the one area of landscaping that was not to be destroyed and I have no doubt it will be completed this week.
It is truly wonderful to work with a company that does care about the finished product and does want to be sure that everything is done to the owners satisfaction.
I can't thank
Kansas City Foundation Repair Specialists Provider Name Locked
, Odie and
Kansas City Foundation Repair Specialists Provider Name Locked
enough for all of their work and dedication to customer satisfaction. I would certainly recommend this crew and the company to anyone that needs foundation work completed.
