"I'm just going to put a copy of a registered letter I sent to
after my mother's house was eventually mostly cleaned. See the following: ...more December 19, 2011
, I’m writing this letter to you to provide feedback regarding my customer satisfaction, or in this case an almost complete lack of satisfaction, with the results your business supplied to me as a client in December 2011. I cannot say with certianty that you were aware of how badly your company acted and performed but I assume you are because your name is on the top of your check right above one
. This aforementioned person, who came into my house, looked me in the eye and shook my hand on a written and verbal promise that the contents of my recently deceased mother’s house would be cleaned out by 12/12/11. He even called this a “Drop dead date” on that evening, the 2nd of December, 2011, saying that this was giving himself and your company enough time to do a complete and thourough job, although he may call me and do it sooner if circumstances permitted. I told him that would be great if it worked out because our realtor had several people to show the house to and the sooner he could clean the house out the better. I bought his and your sales pitch hook line and sinker, only to find out that your company is one that takes complete and total advantage of a person at a time when they are emotionally compromised by the recent passing of a loved one. The facts are as follows. I called
on a Sunday afternoon, 12/11/11, to make sure that he had everything he needed from me to complete the job by the next day (the drop dead date) only to find out that he had not even started the job. He asked for more time and I gave him 24 hrs more and I asked him if he would call me when he was finished. He said that he would. I never heard from this worthless individual again. My sister said that the garbage skid was finally removed on Thursday 12/15/11 and reported that the refrigerator still had rotten food in it and the kitchen sink cabinet had not been cleaned out and that there was still dust all over the office downstairs as well as the area where the freezers had been moved from was filthy. I would never recommend your company for any reason whatsoever.
I asked my sister to follow up with
. She arranged for him to mail the keys to the house and 10 days later he still had not done so. To my knowledge he still has not done so & today is 12/27/2011. As a caveat, I would say hire these people at your peril and also get at least 2 or 3 bids. My mistake was to believe her BS as I was so emotionally cooked at the time."

"On these re-certs they dragged their feet causing delays in final closing. Had to really stay on top of them to get work performed that had been prepaid in cash. They would not start until paid and they do not accept credit cards! Our mortgage broker ...more got so frustrated with them, she had to turn negotiations over to us. Oh they will smile and be friendly, but their service in time of need (in spite of paying exorbitant additional fees) really sucks!"

Dear Angie: What are the similarities and differences between a home appraisal and a home inspection?

Jacksonville Property Appraisers Reviews
Weeks was on time and brought another gentlemen as well. He matched my desired appraisal amount and was able to support it with appropriate comps. The neighborhood is undergoing much change and I have seen lots of bad comps there previously. He found terrific rental comps and did all of this in just 2 days. He also emailed me ...more a copy of the appraisal as he had agreed to. He was timely, informative, and professional. He also gave me what no one else in town probably could have: an appraisal in 2 days (during a very busy week) and an appraisal amount higher than others had estimated."
"My mother passed away in March 2012, leaving me 50% of her home, trustee for the other 50%, and estate executor. For those of you who have been through this life experience you know there is an unknown number of tasks/issues that have to be attended to. One of them is to get the "fair
value" of the house you just inherited ...more - which I didn't remember. Two things I did do was 1) before removing my mothers possessions I took photographs of every room from several different
2) I kept a detailed list of all repairs and improvements I either contracted or did myself.

I searched Angie's List for an appraiser familiar with the area. Up popped
with five recent reviews all with an "A" grade. I contacted
on a Tuesday, liked the way he talked, asked if he could provide a retrospective appraisal (he said he could if I had a list of repairs and improvements), and setup an appointment the following Friday at 10am.
was on time. Easy to talk to. Took his own measurements (didn't use public documents). Made his own drawings of the house plan and asked questions a potential buyer might ask.
Upon reviewing the "before" photos
noticed several cracks in the drywall. I explained a soil settlement problem and that in
. 2009 I contracted an engineering firm to re-level and stabilize the house with helical piers and lots of concrete. I also indicated I contracted the drywall repair and described the techniques they used for the repairs and that I had not seen any new cracks.
On the following Wednesday I received emails with attached PDF files containing very detailed reports (19 pages on the current appraisal). Information of similar houses including sale price and pictures in the vicinity used to determine
value were included.
For the retrospective appraisal
used the repair & improvements list, before photos, and researched comparable houses that were sold around the date of my mother's death. "
"He returned my call immediately and he scheduled the appraisal inspection with my real estate agent in two days. Mr.
is also a real estate broker and he advised me of several things that I was totally unaware of- i.e., things my agent should have known.
The report was very thorough and gave me the information I needed ...more to make an informed decision as to whether to proceed or not. "
on a Friday. He came out promptly on Monday and did a thorough inspection of my property. He provided what I feel is a fair opinion of the value of my home, with sufficient documentation to support his conclusions. I recomment
