"Woodwork was done and one house painted. The woodwork was sloppy and one coat of paint was applied. I pointed out where the old paint was bleeding into the new paint. Since both houses were side by side and their trailer was inside a locked fence, I wrote a check for the first house with their word that they would take care of the problem.  They got all of their equipment and trailer out of my back yard with a locked gate, went to my bank and cashed the check. I was puzzled as to why they left with another job for $1600.00 and all they would need to do to complete the first job was to apply another coat of paint in some light colored areas.  I discovered my new $2000.00 dollar gate had brown paint sprayed all over. Now I now why they left. After writing the above I e-mailed

and

.
Jacksonville Exterior Painters Provider Name Locked
said he was aware of the fence. That he left because he did not like my complaints of their work. Also said they would come back and clean the fence. Several weeks have past. I have not seen or heard from

and

. I would also like to point out that in the company's original response they stated that we did not pay period, then they changed the story after we posted proof of payment.

How to get your HOA to approve your house painting project

Before making changes to your home's exterior, contact your HOA to see if your plans fall within allowable guidelines. (Photo courtesy of Angie's List member Robert O.)

If you live in a community with a homeowners association (HOA), gaining the board's approval before you paint your home's exterior is an essential requirement.

Finding a contractor for lead paint removal

Angie’s List member Steve T. of San Diego hired highly rated Paintgreen to remove lead paint from his garage. He says company owner, John Ray, “was patient and went over and beyond to make sure all work was done to the letter of the law.” (Photo courtesy of Steve T.)

Millions of homes built before 1978 still contain lead paint. EPA guidelines now mandate safe cleaning practices for lead paint removal, but not all contractors follow the rules.

"
Jacksonville Exterior Painters Provider Name Locked
and
Jacksonville Exterior Painters Provider Name Locked
were professional throughout the entire experience. They came out to give us an estimate the same day we called. They had references available along with photos of work they had completed. They had the best price and value by a long shot of any of the other estimates that we got. They completed the work in a very timely fashion and did a great job. They were very friendly and we will certainly rehire for future projects."

"This experience went really well; the price was great, and he is reliable and is on time and comes when he says he will. The quality of his work is great, and he gets the job done promptly."

"It went very well. He did a good job. I pointed out some issues and he was quick to address them, I would highly recommend him to other people and would use him in the future."

Jacksonville Exterior Painters Provider Name Locked
came out and gave me an quote, which was the lowest of the two I received. I selected him partly because of price, but mostly because I was impressed by his knowledge and experience. We scheduled the job to be done on a weekend and Monday, but because he got held up on another job, he called and asked if he could start during the week, which was when I wanted it done anyway. He came out on Wednesday and pressure washed the entire house plus the 15' x 20' patio and 20' x 60' driveway at no extra charge. He came back on Thursday, did mostly prep work and some cut-in (where the walls meet the ceiling). He came back on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday with his crew of four (plus himself) and applied one coat to all the interior walls and the bedroom ceiling. They applied two coats of paint to most of the interior doors, jams, and trim, and two coats to the exterior. Anytime I had a concern and pointed it out to

, he saw that it was taken care of completely to my satisfaction.

"This painting company is a small, local operation run by
Jacksonville Exterior Painters Provider Name Locked
and a few of his helpers. They did an OK job on the house, but my warning to others is based on the improper and faulty job on the driveway & walkway, lying to me, and absence of integrity and intent to repair the faulty job. I knew the patterned concrete driveway & walkway may require xylene-based paint, so I specifically asked
Jacksonville Exterior Painters Provider Name Locked
to test for xylene. He told me he performed the test and the result was negative for xylene, so he will use standard latex-based paint. Just a few weeks later, a few areas started peeling, so I asked him to come back and take a look. First couple of times, he said, "I'll be there tomorrow," but never showed up, and he stopped taking my calls there after. I let a few months pass by and caught him on the phone again. Same game - "I'll be there tomorrow," and then never shows up. Do not use them!

"Everything went fine except in areas that could not be seen, unless on a ladder, for which they did a

"JPW came out, gave estimate. Was prompt and courteous. Did pressure washing where needed, caulked certain areas. Painted exterior of house and trim in a timely, prompt manner. Cleaned up well. There were a few spots that showed up not as well covered around the base, and I called and he came right back out and touched it up."
