Picture Framing Reviews in Indianapolis

The process was very good. I had pretty good idea of the frame styles I wanted when I walked in and found exactally what I wanted for the oil painting within a few minutes. The nice lady that waited on me was very helpfull in picking the matting and frame stock for the watercolor. The frames were promisd to be done in a week and they were. Very pleased with the results.

There were several things that I was not happy with. They are as follows:
1. Based on conversations that I had with the owner of the company I did not think any of the work would be sub-contracted to a different contractor. I don't know if it was or not but a guy that did most of the work gave me his business card and it was for a company other than
2. I feel that communication was an issue. I had difficulty getting in touch with the owner or the guy that showed up to do most of the work. There were times when I felt I needed to address issues with one of them and my voicemails were not returned.
3. The job that was done differed from the original plan and I felt that the contract price should have been lowered as a result. The owner disagreed with me. I initially was just going to let it slide but after some other disagreements I decided to address this issue with the owner. An example of work that was changed is as follows: the price was based on a contract calling for seven doors but this was ultimately changed to 5 doors and less trim after removing closets at the contractors suggestion. I felt that the contract should have been adjusted for such things since the materials had not yet been purchased but the owner disagreed. The owner also felt that the guy he sent in to do work did work that was above and beyond what was agreed upon and seemed unhappy about that. I disagreed and sent the owner documentation supporting my stance. I also don't recall any discussion on my part with his worker about what was and was not included in the contract price. So if his worker did work he wasn't supposed to or that was above and beyond I don't see how I was to blame. Still, I got the impression the owner was unhappy with me about this.
4. When the job was nearly complete the owner asked me for the final payment which I gave him. I was then informed that the job was complete and that the owner's worker would arrange an appointment with me to go over everything. I sent an emailing telling the owner I did not believe the job to be complete but I still set up the appointment with his worker thinking I could discuss it with him when he came to go over things. Things that were not done that I believed were a part of the contract included the following:
-closet was not finished
-no door knobs
-trim was not finished
-There were a couple decent sized holes where the trim was not able to cover gaps between the wall and stairs
-he had agreed to put an access panel going to the crawl space but left an open hole instead
-no handrail on stairs
Before I heard back from the owner, his worker did not show up for his appointment as we had agreed. This was frustrating since I had to take off work to meet with him. I stopped payment on the final check at that time. Since I was already off work and didn't feel like the worker was going to be showing up anymore I began to finish the job myself. I then got an email from the owner agreeing to at least some of the work not being done. I told the owner I had already incurred additional expense doing work after his worker didn't show up for the meeting and that I thought that and/or the work that was included in the contract price but ultimately deleted from the job should be taken into account and a new price should be agreed upon. The owner did not agree with me and wanted full payment. At one point I also mentioned paying less than the final price and the worker not coming out to finish the job. Owner did not initially agree to that and informed me he was putting a
on my home. He did not attempt to place a
on my home and ultimately agreed to receive $300 less than the original contract price in exchange for not coming back out. It then cost me more than the $300 difference to finish the job. By then I was just happy to be done with the guy though.
5. While negotiating with the owner to finish the job or lower the price I felt like the owner was saying things in emails that were meant to be insults.
6. When initially obtaining a quote I got emails from the owner about changing one of the basement windows so it was 4 ft X 4 ft. I didn't understand this and looked up the code myself and felt it was unnecessary. I told the owner not to do that and he adjusted the price downward since he wouldn't be doing that. It passed inspection. I'm just not sure why such a large and expensive window was suggested when I had told the owner I only wanted it changed so that it could meet egress requirements.......
On the plus side....framing, insulation, etc was done properly. Original contract price was a good price. Just wasn't happy with the communication and the fulfillment of the price. I did not feel the threat of a
and some other things the owner said were professional either.
I think this company knows what it is doing with regards to construction so it isn't an issue of competence or anything of that nature. There were just several things that were frustrating, the threat of a
in particular. My mindset at the end of the job was that I should have accepted the quote from one of the other companies I contacted. Based on that and my general level of frustration I don't feel like I can leave a high grade on this review. Had I felt the job were 100% complete or if the owner had indicated some level of understanding with regards to my feeling that changing the job so it deviated from the contract should also affect the price, I could have probably overlooked minor things and left a better review.
I would not use this company again.

It went great. I'm notorious for making last minute changes, and

The Project Assistant replied within 24 hours to ask me for a description of what I wanted done so that she could block out an appropriate amount of time for an estimate. I responded the next day (12-6-13) with a detailed description. I had not heard back from her for several days so I sent the 12-6-13 email again on 12-12-13. Her response later that day: "

(her husband) has been out of the country and just returned to the office yesterday. I wanted to speak with him prior to responding to your email. As I suspected, he confirmed that we are no longer servicing the West Side of Indianapolis. Our office has relocated to the far east side so we have redrawn our service area accordingly. Unfortunately, I don't have anyone to recommend in your area." According to their Angie's List webpage, on the date of their 12-12-13 email, they are located at the same address as they were for the work done at my residence in

of 2012. Their Angie's List webpage says that they service "

Township, which IS part of

County- approximately 22.8 miles door-to-door from their present location. If they have indeed "redrawn (their) service area accordingly," why isn't this reflected on their Angie's List webpage? If indeed they are no longer servicing the west side of Indianapolis, why didn't the Project Assistant tell me this when she first replied on 12-5-13 instead of asking for details about what I wanted an estimate for? And why wasn't this relocation a

Had a hard time finding someone to frame my photo, as I wanted to use my own uncut mat and an antique frame. Ed did a wonderful job completing the piece just as I had envisioned. Price was very reasonable and it was done quite quickly to work with my time constraint. Also purchased one of Ed's personal artwork pieces and look forward to having another of his landscape photos printed on canvas and framed!

We have been using
Indianapolis Custom Frames Provider Name Locked
for our framing for years and years, even before he had his own gallery. He is talented, creative, personable, timely, and does fabulous work! He is so easy to work with and has made our home look magnificent! He has also re-done some pieces previously done elsewhere like the 2 pieces today. In addition, we have bought some beautiful art for our home in indianapolis as well as in Connecticut from talented local artists. His gallery is a jewel on Broad Ripple Avenue and we look forward to working with him for many years!! His prices are fair and the workmanship quality always fabulous.

Work was done well and owner worked with me for a long time to select the right color and textile for the matting. Was very happy with the work that was done. He reused the frame which was already on the tapestry and made recommendations for improving the visual.

Took in an old faded framed picture and asked if we selected a new picture could it be mounted in the old frame. We gave him an idea of what kind of picture we were looking for and he helped us select one. When we found the one we liked, he said he could use the old frame with no problem. We selected mats for the picture, he gave us a price and we asked for a specific completion date.
The new picture looked great and was very well framed and looks great in our kitchen. I would highly recommend Ed

I told Ed that I wanted to spend approximately 150.00 to frame a poster for my daughter. He showed me some options for frames and mats in my price range including a coupon from his website. He chose colors I never would have picked and the project came out beautifully! He was respectful of my budget and time. When it turned out that he couldn't have my picture done on the original promised date due to his vacation, he offered to have it done sooner. I was very pleased with his professionalism and artistic skills.
