Indianapolis Foundation Repair Specialists Reviews
After a couple of days, only one of the people came to work . This person was a 60+ arthritic male who began the foundation work.
The east end of house had to be completely gutted including floors due to crawl space not having a sump pump resulting in water damage & from the roof during the 2006 hail storm.
By the way, I need to mention that the house was completely occupied throughout this helter/skelter FIASCO!!! TOTAL lack of regard for us in any capacity.
the rare occasion he would be onsite, would walk into the house & not even acknowledge my 87 yr. old mother sitting on the couch .The living room & one bedroom were our living quarters for the 8 months, yes EIGHT MONTHS of this NIGHTMARE!
At this point I did consult the Indiana Law Association. The attorneys I consulted with told me I had to give
When they stated they were finished (Feb 2013) and left, there was no word from
I'm quite sure you have determined before now that the renovation would Not be completed by
Yes, I know there are many good reviews for this "Super Service" contractor.....BUT, be afraid, be very afraid of what
there was never any clean-up in 8 months by
Well folks, there are eight months of countless specific details about this horror story I do not have the space here to relate. However I believe
you can understand and I do hope learn from this that even with a reference & an Angie's List membership YOU must do your "homework" checking the HONESTY & INTEGRITY of the license/bond/ins claims of these contractors. Again, ASK for PROOF!! Check with your county about permits(the building dept & code enforcement) to ensure your protection against these con artists. The contractors that are now coming in to give estimates to repair
Remember (as I'm told)
Good Luck to Everyone!
The recommended work came to a total of about $20,000; so at this point I am seeking an inspection from a structural engineer to get a professional opinion from somebody who does not have a stake in selling me the solutions. I explained this to
The one thing that I didn't care for during my experience was when
Update post consultation with structural engineer:
I paid $350 for a consultation with a structural engineer. His assessment was that there was nothing structurally wrong with my house that would require the use of foundation piers (ARW was recommending 8 piers at $1,000 each). He said that none of the cracks that he observed both inside (diagonal cracks in the plaster at the corner of a couple of my doorways) and outside (stair step cracks in the mortar between the bricks on the back side of my house) were that serious and were just natural for a house built in 1948. ARW had also recommend some support brackets inside my basement for one of the walls that was bowing. The engineer did concur that there was some bowing but that it was slight and there was no need for the brackets. We discussed options for improving the drainage of water away from my house (putting covers over the wells on my basement windows, re-configuring the drain pipes connected to my gutter downspouts so that the piping goes straight out of the ground instead of turning up in a U shape that is currently very clogged, and possibly adding an awning over the stairwell leading to my back door that has a drain and could be a point of collecting water). He said that it might be wise to consider a sump pump set up if I wanted absolutely no water in my basement.
It's a bit bewildering to have two such differing opinions. But at this point I am not going to go with ARW. I have an appointment with another waterproofing company to discuss drainage solutions.
